PTC is pleased to introduce Windchill Product Analytics 11.0. Windchill Product
Analytics is an analysis and decision support system that enables companies to gain
early visibility of product performance along multiple dimensions, such as,
environmental compliance, life cycle analysis, and product cost. As a manufacturer, you
can use Windchill Product Analytics to identify and resolve high-priced problems and
potential failure points before they occur.

Windchill Product Analytics.

About Substance Update Tool

From Windchill Product Analytics 11.0 F000 onward, PTC delivers substance data and
compliance specifications periodically through Substance Update Tool. Using this tool
you can selectively download substance data and install compliance specifications when a
new compliance specification or a new version of an existing compliance specification is
released. The Substance Update Tool delivers the last two revisions for a compliance
specification. As a best practice, PTC recommends that you do not deploy many revisions
of a particular compliance specification as this causes performance issues during IPC file
processing and page loading on the application user interface.

This tool is independent of the Windchill Product Analytics product installer and is
available for download from PTC.com. You can download the compliance specifications
and substance data before you install or upgrade the software. For more information on
downloading substance data and compliance specifications using Substance Update Tool,
see Windchill Product Analytics Installation Guide or Windchill Product Analytics
Upgrade Guide.

About License Upgrade

You require a new license if you are installing the software for the first time or when you
are migrating from InSight Environmental Compliance 4.0 to Windchill Product
Analytics. You do not require a new license if you are upgrading between Windchill
Product Analytics releases or maintenance releases.

Windchill Product Analytics 11.0 F000 is certified and tested on the following platforms:

Database Support
Windchill Product Analytics 11.0 F000 is certified and tested on the following databases:

• Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Enterprise Edition (64-bit) SP1

• Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Enterprise Edition (64-bit)
• Oracle 12.1.0.2 (64-bit) Enterprise Edition
• Oracle 11g R2 Enterprise Edition 11.2.0.2 (64-bit), 11.2.0.3 (64-bit), and 11.2.0.4 (64-
bit)
Windchill Product Analytics 11.0 F000 does not support the Microsoft SQL Server 2008
R2 Enterprise Edition (64-bit) database.

If you are upgrading your existing database to the supported database versions, you
must upgrade the database before you install or upgrade the software.

Refer to the software matrix document from the Reference Documents page on PTC.com
for information on the combinations of platforms, operating systems, and third-party
products that are certified for use with Windchill Product Analytics.

Oracle Database Configuration

Performance issues are observed when you install Oracle 11g with SSL connection. This
is due to a known issue with Oracle (# 20683229,). For more details, refer to the Oracle
Website.

To work around this issue, configure the Oracle installation as follows:

1. Open the sqlnet.ora file located at dbhome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN in the database

installation.

2. Append the following script after the WALLET section in the file.

 SSL_CIPHER_SUITES= (SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5,
SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_SHA)

3. Save the changes.

4. Restart the server.

Java Update
Windchill Product Analytics 11.0 F000 has been tested and verified using Java version
1.7.0_72 (64-bit). You must install or upgrade to Java version 1.7.0_72 before you
install or upgrade to Windchill Product Analytics 11.0 F000.

Java version 1.7.0.12 (64 bit) is supported for HPUX 11i V3 server.

Verifying the Status of Verdict Recalculation after a Software Upgrade

When you update compliance specifications manually using the
runECComplianceSpecUpdate command, you can use an SQL command to verify the
status of verdict recalculation of the compliance specifications. When you run the
runECComplianceSpecUpdate command on an upgraded environment, the following
options are listed:
• 1—Schedule Supplier Parts with material content for re-calculation
of compliance verdicts for ALL compliance specifications in the
system
• 2—Schedule Supplier Parts with material content for re-calculation
of compliance verdicts for an INDIVIDUAL compliance specification
• 3—Exit
Run the following SQL commands to verify the verdict recalculation status depending on
the option you entered:

• Option 1—Compliance verdict is recalculated for all compliance specifications:

SELECT PROCESS_STATUS, count( * ) from EC_SPP_PART_RECALCULATE_CPL
JOIN EC_COMPLIANCE_SPEC_SECTION S on S.ID=CSC_ID group by
PROCESS_STATUS;

• Option 2—Compliance verdict is recalculated for individual compliance specifications:

SELECT PROCESS_STATUS,S.CSC_SPEC as "NAME", S.CSC_SECTION As
"SECTION", S.CSC_REVISION as "REVISION", count( * ) from
EC_SPP_PART_RECALCULATE_CPL JOIN EC_COMPLIANCE_SPEC_SECTION S on
S.ID=CSC_ID group by PROCESS_STATUS,S.CSC_SPEC, S.CSC_SECTION,
S.CSC_REVISION ORDER BY S.CSC_SPEC,S.CSC_SECTION, S.CSC_REVISION;
Known Issues
• INSIGHT-21339—When you upload an IPC file for a supplier part, the compliance
verdicts are calculated for the compliance specifications such as REACH, RoHS, and
GADSL for that supplier part. You can view these compliance statuses under
Proposed Compliance on the View Uploaded Data page. The compliance verdicts
are not calculated for the EICC Conflict Mnrl compliance specification and the
compliance status for this compliance specification will appear blank on the View

 Uploaded Data page. Similarly, when you upload an EICC Conflict Minerals Report
that contains a product level declaration for the same supplier part, the compliance
verdict is calculated only for the EICC Conflict Mnrl compliance specification. The
compliance status is not calculated for the other compliance specifications and will
appear blank on the View Uploaded Data page. When both the IPC and EICC
Conflict Minerals Report data are uploaded for the same supplier part, the compliance
status dashboard on the Supplier Part Information page will display the
compliance statuses for all the compliance specifications. This is a known behavior.
• INSIGHT-23179—When you generate the compliance status report for a BOM and
export it to Excel, the Product Compliance Summary table will display a
maximum of 30 compliance specifications and the corresponding compliance status for
the BOM. If you have installed more than 30 compliance specifications in Windchill
Compliance, then details of some compliance specifications may not be available in
the Product Compliance Summary table in the Excel report. This issue will be
fixed in a future release.
• INSIGHT-23183—While reporting a BOM to IMDS, if you make selections on a
validation screen and then sort the columns, the reporting process may clear some of
the selections. Select the required details again on the validation screens to complete
the BOM reporting process. This issue will be fixed in a future release.
• INSIGHT-23205—While searching for a document using the certificate of compliance
option for Document Type on the Search for Document page, the following two
values are displayed:
– Certificate Of Compliance—This value comes from the Windchill Compliance
database. When you execute the search using this option, the application displays
the search results on the Document Search Results page. PTC recommends
that you use this option for Document Type to search for documents.

– CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE— This is a legacy value and is displayed if

you have migrated from Insight 4.0 to Windchill Product Analytics. When you
execute the search using this option, the application does not return search
results on the Document Search Results page. This issue will be fixed in a
future release.
