7 Playback Mode

By selecting a track the SMAVIA Recording Server appliance switches from playback / live
mode in the playback mode. The full functionality for track playback and analysis is avail-
able. Unnecessary functions are disabled (e.g. buttons for selecting a split type).

Some functions are not available for all camera types. Corresponding buttons and controls
are deactivated if required.

7.1 Track Types

Secure tracks and saved tracks are not available in any track mode (see SMAVIA Record-
ing Server Preloaded “Configuration”).

Long Play Tracks

LP tracks are usually large ring buffers. They are used for current recording. One LP track
is assigned to each camera.

Secure Tracks
Secure tracks are usually relatively small ring buffers. One secure track can be assigned to
each camera. The recording settings for secure tracks may differ from those of a LP track.
These secure tracks is saved as soon as an alarm is triggered on the device (see SMAVIA
Recording Server Preloaded “Configuration”). This prevents the current images from be-
ing overwritten. New secure tracks will subsequently be created in which the recording is
continued.

Saved Tracks
Saved tracks are secure tracks that have been protected against overwriting after an alarm
had been triggered. Depending on the number of triggered alarms, more than one saved
track may exist for each camera.

Reference Track
Single images of the cameras are stored in the reference track. These images can be used
in order to compare current camera settings and positions with the original conditions. Ref-
erence tracks are therefore not used for recording or playback.

8.3 Index Search

With the Index Search, events are searched for before and after the starting point.
The “events” listed for the index search are a collection of individual events. Individual
events which occur within 10 seconds, e.g. via image comparison, make up one event.
An event can be both a recording after image comparison and a marker (index mark after
contact) for constant recording.
Before calling up the search function and starting the index search, please set a starting
point for the quick search with the slider in playback mode. You can also use the Simple
Search by Date and Time here. The corresponding image is now the starting point for the
index search.

¾¾ Select the Index Search tab.

You will now find seven events before and after the Current Position. The Current Po‑
sition is the starting image determined by the quick search or simple search before the
search function is called up.
You can access the listed events with the Event back and Event forward buttons. If you
would like to view events belonging to the relevant event, close the search function.
You can also select an event directly by double-clicking the corresponding list entry.

¾¾ Select with the arrow buttons the relevant event.

8.4 Extended Search

The extended search is used when other data, in addition to the image data (including date
and time), is saved for the image. This is especially the case with ATMs and cash registers.

Note that the “Global” option allows to search in all tracks.

The options available in this search criteria are defined in the “Search criteria” configuration
dialog (see SMAVIA Recording Server Preloaded “Configuration”).

The Extended Search is carried out within a time window. The time window is determined
by the entries Start and Stop.

¾¾ Select the SmartFinder tab.

¾¾ Open the Advanced Search Options dialog with click on Options.

Fig. 8-9

Image changes are generally displayed as rectangular fields. You can specify in the
Draw‑Mode section whether the display is to be realized as individual fields or as a com-
bination of fields.
In the Search-Mode a relationship is established between these rectangles (image chang-
es) and the marking drawn by you.

www.dallmeier.com 37
SMAVIA Recording Server

8.5.2.1 Draw-Mode
The Draw-Mode affects the appearance of the existing image changes.

Rectangle
If you have activated Rectangle in the Draw-Mode, all the changes are each displayed
with a rectangle, whereby rectangles may also be positioned partially on top of each other.
If you have not activated Rectangle in the Draw-Mode, adjacent and overlapping rectan-
gles are combined into a single area.

Fig. 8-10 Option “Rectangle” activated

Fig. 8-11 Option “Rectangle” not activated

www.dallmeier.com 38
SMAVIA Recording Server

Intersection
If you have activated Intersection in the Draw-Mode, only those rectangles are displayed
that are linked correspondingly with the marking drawn by you, depending on the search
method (see section “Search Mode”).
If you have not activated Intersection, all the rectangles are displayed.

Fig. 8-12 Option “Intersection” activated

Fig. 8-13 Option “Intersection” not activated

8.5.2.2 Search Mode

The selection in the Search-Mode field are theoretically used to specify the search method
and thus the number of relevant events.

Balance Point Search

The rectangles that mark a figure change have an imaginary geometric balance point as-
signed.
If Balance Point Search is activated, a hit is always listed when this geometric balance
point lies within the marking drawn by you.

www.dallmeier.com 39
SMAVIA Recording Server

Fig. 8-14 Balance point within the marking = Hit

Fig. 8-15 Balance point outside the marking = No hit

Intersection Search
If Intersection Search is activated, you already obtain a search result when a rectangle
of a figure change intersects the marking drawn by you by even the smallest amount. The
geometric balance point is not of relevance then.

Fig. 8-16 Rectangles intersect the marking = Hit

www.dallmeier.com 40
SMAVIA Recording Server

8.5.2.3 General Comparison Of The Search Modes

If one compares the two search modes, it becomes clear that more search results (hits)
result during an Intersection Search than during a Balance Point Search.
However, there is a danger at a Balance Point Search that too few search results are
available and that a relevant event is not listed.
If you cannot define the search range (marking) exactly at first, you should first activate
the Intersection Search mode. After a rough analysis you can set your marking again and
specify a narrower selection with the Balance Point Search.

12 System Messages

The protocols summarized as system messages cover user actions, results of the device
integrity tests (e.g. camera failure) and messages from the internal system surveillance
(e.g. hard disk or fan failure).
The logging of system messages is conducted automatically and can not be deactivated.
The ERROR LED on the device front side (SMAVIA appliance) indicates critical messages
(system integrity tests and internal system surveillance). In support of this the messages
may also be indicated by a warning dialog or sound.

System Messages Confirmation

The system messages warning dialog is displayed in every mode (sequencer / live, play-
back / live and playback).

Fig. 12-1 Warning dialog system messages

Filter System Messages

If the System Messages warning dialog is displaying messages related to different subjects
the corresponding filterbuttons will also be displayed. The appropriate filters can be acti-
vated with a click. This enables a clearly arranged and subject related display.

Hide Warning Dialog

The warning dialog can be hidden in the live and playback mode by any user.
The warning dialog is hidden for 30 seconds with a click on Suppress temporarily. It will
remain hidden even if a new event triggers a new system message meanwhile. The dialog
is displayed again after 30 seconds, independent from the current mode.

Confirm Warning Dialog

Users with access level 1, 2 or 3 can confirm the warning dialog provisionally with a click
on OK.
Thereby the warning dialog will not be displayed in live mode any longer. It also will not be
displayed if a user with access level 1 or 2 logs into playback mode.
This is different for a user with access level 3 or 4 (administrator, installer). If these logs
in the playback mode, the warning dialog appears again and displays all not definitively
confirm messages.

Final Confirmation
The final confirmation of the warning dialog can only be conducted by an administrator (ac-
cess level 3) with a click on OK. It is irrelevant if the dialog is displayed in live or playback
mode.
