This documentation is valid for the SMAVIA appliance DMS 2400/DLS 1600 in connection with the software SMAVIA
Recording Server version 8.1.1.

Live
Control in Live Mode and Login
View

Live
► Move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the display.
The split type selection is displayed.

Playback
► Select the required split type (single split A/multi split B).

The selected view is displayed.


The split type (C) is available only for analogue cameras in hybrid mode.

Search
Single Split Options
The single split displays the live video with up to 25 fps.

Export
► Select the single split.
► Right-click in the split.
The context menu is displayed.

Messages
► Select a camera.
► Activate the Audio option if required.
► Activate the Sequencer if required.

Multi Split Options 1

A multi split displays the live video with 1 fps.


► Select the required multi split view.
► Right-click in a split.
The context menu is displayed.
► Activate the Audio option if required.
► Activate the view Full screen (single split) if required.

Multi Split Options 2

► Select the required multi split view.


► Double-click in a split.
The split is displayed as single split with up to 25 fps.

► Double-click in the single split.


The previous multi split view is displayed again.

Login

► Move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the monitor.


The Login button is displayed.
► Click the Login button.

The Login dialogue is displayed.


► Enter the User name (A) and the password (B).
► Confirm with OK.

In the group login mode a virtual keyboard is displayed ony.

Track Selection and Analysis of Stored Images
User Interface
After login the user interface is displayed with a live image.
► Move the mouse pointer to the lower edge of the screen to display the using panel.

► Right-click the Track Selection button.
(Bank device → Left-click)
The Track Selection panel is displayed.
► Select the track type (tab).
► Select the track.
► Click Open.
The playback control is activated.

Playback Control
The newest image (end of track) after the track selection.

A Delete
Delete all images in the current track.
B Start/Stop A B C D E

Playback
Toggle recording in the track (green = active / gray = inactive).
C Export
Store images on CD / DVD+ / USB stick / HDD (see Export)
D Print

Search
Print the currently displayed image.
E Track selection
Display of the Track selection panel (see above).

Export
Functions 2 (bottom right)

A Search
Search for specific times, data and events in the track (see Search).

B Settings
This function is not available in the current software version.
C Zoom
Enlarge an image section (see below).
D Close
Stop playback of the track.

Zoom
► Click the Zoom button.
The mouse pointer will be displayed as a magnifying glass.

► Position the mouse pointer on an image section.


Zoom in → Left-click (up to 8 x)
Zoom out → Right-click

► Exit the function with a click on the Zoom button.

Search
Search for Specific Times, Data, Events, Markings or Motions in a Track
Select Track
► Right-click the Track selection button.
(Bank device → Left-click)
► Select the track type (tab).
► Select the track.
► Click Open.

Simple Search – Jump to a Point in Time


► Click the Search button.
► Select the search function Simple Search (tab).
► Set the Date and the Time.
► Click Start.

The corresponding image is displayed.

Quick Search – Jump a Period Forward/Backward


► Click the Search button.
► Select the search function Quick Search (tab).
► Set the Unit and the Distance.

► Select the appropriate image with Backward (A) or Forward (B).

Index Search – Search for Images with Markings


► Click the Search button.
► Select the search function Index Search (tab).
► Click the Refresh button (B).

The result list will be generated and displayed.

► Select a result (image) with Backward (A) or Forward (C).

Extended Search – Search for Images with Stored Data
► Set the search categories (A).

Live
► Enter the search criteria (B).
► Set a period (C).
► Activate the Global (D) option for the search in all tracks if required.

Playback
► Click Search.

Export
► Select a result (image).

SmartFinder – Search Images with Motions in Defined Sections

Messages
► Set a period (A).
► Click Define.

► Define the image section with the mouse pointer


as a rectangle (left-click + drag).
► Adjust the image section if required.
Position à Left-click + drag&drop
Size à Left-click on the border + drag&drop
Delete à Right-click

► Proceed as described for max. 4 image sections


if required.
► Click Search.

The result list will be generated and displayed.

► Select a result with Backward (B) or Forward (C).


The corresponding image will be displayed with indicators for search sections and motion sections.

Export
Creation of an Export List and Storage on a CD/DVD+/USB stick/HDD

Select Track
► Right-click the Track selection button.
(Bank device → Left-click)
► Select the track type (tab).
► Select the track.
► Click Open.

Select Image
► Find the image.
► Click the Export button.
► Click Add image.
► Note the option Further cameras (see below).
► Proceed as described for all images.

Select Period
► Find the oldest image of the period (start of event).
► Click the Export button.
► Click Sequence start.

► Find the newest image of the period (end of event).


► Click the Export button.
► Click Sequence end.
► Note the option Further cameras (see below).
► Proceed as described for all periods.

Further Cameras
The corresponding images from other cameras can be added after the
selection of an image or a period.

► Select the image or the period (see above).


► Click the Export button.
► Click Cameras....
The Cameras dialogue is displayed.

► Select the additional cameras with a click.


(orange = selected)
► Confirm with OK.

Create Export List

The export list can be created after the selection of the images
and periods.
► Click the Export button.
► Click Export ....
The export list is created and displayed.

The List dialogue will be displayed.

► Check the export list.

Playback
► Insert a CD/DVD+ or connect a USB stick/HDD.
► Confirm with the Next button (A).

Images and periods can be selected and deleted (B) from the export list.

The Device dialogue is displayed.

► Select the Device (A).


► Check the available memory capacity.
► Confirm with the OK button (B).

Files on a re-writable medium can be selected and deleted (C).

Completion
The Export dialogue is displayed.

► Note the progress bar.


► Wait until the message Export finished is displayed.
► Confirm with the OK button (A).
► Close the playback mode.
► Remove the CD/DVD+ or the USB stick/HDD.

The display of the log file can be activated for information any time.

Analysis of System Messages (Error, Status, Logins, Actions) and Storage on a USB stick

Display
System messages (short) can be displayed on the device front side.

► Note the message.


► Take the required measures.

Monitor
System messages (detailed) can be displayed with a pop-up dialogue.
► Note the messages.
► Take the required measures.
► Confirm the messages with OK.
The dialogue can be hidden for 30 seconds with Suppress temporarily.

Analysis
Move the mouse pointer to the upper edge of the screen
to display the menu bar.
► Click Setup.
The configuration selection is displayed.
► Click System (A).
The dialogue selection System is displayed.
► Click System Messages (B).

Define Analysis

► Set a period (A) if required.

► Select the message category (B).


Standard → error and system messages
Protocol → logins and logouts
Actions → user actions

► Start the analysis with Apply.

The corresponding messages will be displayed in normal view.

► Filter the messages (A) if required (see below) .


► Change to detailed view (B) if required.

Playback
The System Messages dialogue can be closed with OK.

Export
Filter type
The filter type is indicated by a symbol and a tool tip.

► Position the mouse pointer on a filter button.

Messages
► Note the tool tip.

Apply filter
Initially all messages will be displayed.
(all filter buttons = blue)

► Click a filter button.


Only the appropriate messages will be displayed.
(filter button = red)

► Click another filter button if required.

Only the appropriate messages for both filter types (OR relation)
will be displayed.
(both filter buttons = red)

Export
The displayed system messages can be stored as a text file
on a USB stick.

► Connect a USB stick.


► Filter the system messages if required.
► Click Export Messages.
