Symptoms of stress Reflection

 How do you know when you are feeling stressed?   What changes do you observe in
your physical, mental or spiritual health?
 Usually when I am stressed, from a physical standpoint, my mood changes a
lot, I become very irritable and anxious. Hence, I start becoming very
impatient with my friends and family friends, and possibly start to hit/throw
objects out of anger. I also tend to stop eating, and this has led to physical
changes such as me losing weight and looking weaker. From a mental and
spiritual standpoint, I tend to start feeling overwhelmed, unfocused and
unmotivated to do anything. My thoughts turn negative and I usually stay this
way for the entire day.
 How are physical, mental and spiritual health related? Why is it important to
understand the links between mind, spirit and body?
 Your physical, mental and spiritual health is all connected to each other in
some way. When one aspect of a person’s health (Physical, mental or spiritual)
is undergoing stress, overwhelmed or is negatively affected, symptoms are
seen in all 3 of them. For example, when someone is going through mental
stress from homework, you can see physical changes to their behavior as well.
They will start to sweat more, have changes in their physicality or become very
aggravated. Spiritually, their mood becomes very sulky and dull for the rest of
the day or even week and they will seem unmotivated. It is important to
understand the links between the mind, spirit and body because when one
aspect is stressed, you can balance the three and keep the others calm and
controlled.
 What are some physical changes you might observe when you experience stress?
 Physically, when I am stressed my whole body feels very weak and tired. I
sometimes have trouble sleeping, and when I’m awake, I tend to get
headaches. Sometimes my hands start to sweat. I start to lose focus and fidget
a lot with things around me. In extreme cases of stress, I might start crying, my
mind might get foggy or I might start breaking out on my face.
 How might positive self-talk(definition: It’s like having an optimistic voice in your
head that always looks on the bright side.) help in dealing with stress?  What can you do to
make this strategy work for you?
 I know that this strategy works for many people and I think that It works so
effectively because it brightens your mood and helps you look at the situation in
a different perspective. For me, this strategy can help in dealing with stress can
help calm me down and help me think straight and not through a stressed
mind. To make this strategy work for me, whenever I get stressed, I can move
to a quiet and peaceful room for a few minutes, away from what causing the
stress, do some positive self-talk until my mind is clear relaxed, then go back
to whatever I was doing with a more positive mood. To make it more effective
I can just do it more often, and that way, in very stressful situations I can use
this strategy comfortably and cure my stress well.

How do you deal with stress? – Instructions for a bad day

The first thing that I do when I get stressed out is move away from whatever is causing
the stress to occur. I then start by taking deep breaths so that my heart rate slows down
and my panicking reduces. After that, I will calm my head down with a glass of cold
water and maybe something small to eat. This will help refresh my brain and give me
energy for when I go back to what I was doing. I usually don’t experience terrible
amounts of stress, so by this time I would have calmed down and gone back to whatever
I was doing before. However, if the stress is worse, it takes some more times to relax my
head. If would first talk to myself and remind myself that stressing out will get me
nowhere and that if I tackle the situation with a more positive attitude, I will be more
productive and efficient. To ensure that my physical and mental health recover, I would
take 25-30 minutes and do something that brings me joy. This helps me take my head of
everything and just enjoy what I’m doing. For me, this would either be going outside,
playing around with my soccer ball, playing some video games, or just simply sitting
down and enjoying a book. If the stress has gone to an extreme and I still haven’t
recovered, I would stop engaging with the stressor for the day and just leave it to freshly
start on the next day. All these activities will help me positively bounce back from
whatever stressful situation I was going through.
