Hydraulic Function get slow and hydraulic overload
Failure/Problem

Hydraulic Function get slow after 5~10minutes operation

Symptom
Machine can start but 5~10 minutes’ operation, hydraulic function get slow, and exhaust smoke too much.
At that time, can’t operate any hydraulic attachment.
History
Since machine arrival on Yangon, machine comes with Log Clamp Attachment and Three spools
Control Valve. Customer wants to buy this machine as Bucket Attachment. So GM instructs to
dismount Log Clamp attachment and its control. Mechanics take out all components and block pilot
control inlet to log clamp spool.
Machine just arrives to site and machine can’t start because of low capacity of main relay. After that
operator start operation. After 15 minutes operation, boom can’t lift up and exhaust smoke is too much.
Customer informed service team to check the machine.
Cause & analysis
Test machine about 15 minutes. After 10 minutes, hydraulic function get slow and exhaust smoke too much
without operating any attachment. It indicates hydraulic function overload. Check previous actions to
machine and analyze with diagrams and structure of Hydraulic system. Test pressure check, Working
pressure (70bar) and Relief pressure (180 bar) is OK. When problem occurs, system pressure goes up and
reaches relief position (180 bar) without operating any attachment. It shows Log Clamp spool oil leakage to
pilot control chamber and incoming oil put main spool to other side and block center passage. So Hydraulic
oil can’t go to other spools and relief valve open and oil go to tank. Need to fixed log clamp spool at neutral
position. Decide to fix log clamp spool with jammed nuts and bolts.
Action
Meet Customer (in-charge) and ask the operator about problem. Service team inspects the machine
visually. Test machine about 15 minutes. After 10 minutes, hydraulic function get slow and exhaust smoke
too much without operating any attachment. It indicates hydraulic function overload. Check previous actions
to machine and analyze with diagrams and structure of Hydraulic system. Test pressure check, Working
pressure (70bar) and Relief pressure (180 bar) is OK. When problem occurs, system pressure goes up and
reaches relief position (180 bar) without operating any attachment. It shows Log Clamp spool oil leakage to
pilot control chamber and incoming oil put main spool to other side and block center passage. So Hydraulic
oil can’t go to other spools and relief valve open and oil go to tank. Decide to fix log clamp spool with
jammed nuts and bolts. After fixing machine, Test machine with pressure check about whole day(OK).
