Purpose
Review this guide to successfully update to Oracle Supply Chain Management (SCM) Cloud, update 20C.

Scope
Oracle SCM Cloud: 20C quarterly update

Details
Use these resources to prepare for, deploy, and validate your Oracle SCM Cloud quarterly update to 20C:

1. Read the New Feature Summary and What’s New guides, available on the Oracle Cloud Release Readiness site, for details about what is
new and changed in the latest quarterly release of Oracle SCM Cloud. In addition, be aware of any changes to common technology and
user experience for the latest quarterly update. These changes apply to all product families within the Oracle Cloud Applications, including
Oracle SCM Cloud. You can find the Common Technologies and User Experience New Feature Summary and What’s New docs alongside the
Oracle SCM Cloud docs on the Oracle Cloud Release Readiness site
o Communicate upcoming user experience changes and any minor changes or enhancements to your user base, and schedule end-
user training as needed.
o Evaluate which new features you would like to roll out, and make plans to implement the new functionality after your update is
complete. Where possible, Oracle allows you to control when new features are exposed to your end users. This enables you to take
your update first, and then manage the introduction and use of new features at a pace that works for you.
2. Check the pre-update and post-update steps listed in this document to help you plan any pre-update or post-update tasks that you need to
perform for the products that you are using. Read the Known Issues document (Doc ID 1563075.1) for your quarterly update to learn about
any known issues that you should be aware of in this update.

Pre-Update Steps

You may need to perform some pre-update tasks before your quarterly update takes place. Use this table to help you determine whether a pre-
update step applies to you, and if so, then follow the instructions in the Follow these steps column.

Analytics work area: Shared Folders > Custom.
 Alternatively, you can download content to local
storage and reload it after the update is
complete by using the Archive / Unarchive
feature.
Identify the algorithms that you have extended.
After you finish the quarterly update, you must
perform the Merge Algorithm Extensions steps
described in the Post-Update Steps section of this
document.
In most cases, if a scheduled process for Product
Hub is aborted by the update process, then the
aborted process auto-recovers and continues from
the processing stage at which the process was

Follow these steps

circumstances, such aborted jobs do require
resubmission by users after the update is
completed. This may lead to duplicated effort and
poor user experience.
To avoid such duplicated effort, you may choose to
schedule your long-running scheduled processes so
that they complete well before the update process
is started.
The scheduled processes with the potential to take
longer to complete are:
 Item Import
 Product Hub Publication Job
 Item Keyword Search
Before you begin, ensure that your instance does
not have any patching activity in progress. If so,
then wait until the patching activity has completed.
This scheduled process usually takes less than 10
minutes to complete. However, if you have more
items enabled for Asset Tracking or have many
items that are enabled for Genealogy Tracking, this
process might run for about two hours.
To synchronize the item master attributes to assets:

1. Sign in to Oracle Applications Cloud as a user

having the Maintenance Manager or Asset
Administrator role.
2. In the Navigator, click Tools > Scheduled
Processes.
3. On the Scheduled Processes Overview page,
click Schedule New Process.
4. In the Schedule New Process dialog box, search
for and select the Synchronize Item Control
Attributes to Assets process.
5. Click Submit to schedule the process.
6. On the Scheduled Processes Overview page,
verify that the process is completed
successfully. You can click the Refresh button to
view the job status.
This process only updates data for assets that have
not been synchronized yet. You can rerun it
whenever it's necessary to synchronize assets.

Post-Update Steps

You may need to perform some post-update tasks after your quarterly update takes place. Use this table to help you determine whether a post-
update step applies to you, and if so, follow the instructions in the Follow these steps column.

Follow these steps
Navigator > Tools > Download Desktop Integration
Review the following considerations:
 If you do not want to uptake the new functionality
provided by Oracle Fusion Pricing, then no action is
required, whether or not you have implemented
any algorithm extensions.
 If you have not implemented algorithm extensions
in your existing release but you still want to uptake
the new functionality, then perform either step A
or step B:
A. If you have only Version 1 algorithms, you
must promote all of the algorithms from
the Manage Algorithms page in the Pricing
Administration work area to have the
features from the latest release.
B. If you have Version 0 algorithms, no action
is required. You will automatically have the
features from the latest release.
 If you have implemented algorithm extensions and
also wish to uptake the new functionality, then
perform the following steps:
1. In the Pricing Administration work area, select
the Manage Algorithms task.
2. If you have implemented algorithm extensions
only to disable caching, and no other changes,

then deactivate algorithms with higher
versions. Verify that version 1 is the only
active, published version of the pricing
algorithms mentioned in "Identify Algorithms
Extensions" in the Pre-Update Steps section of
this document.
3. For all other algorithm extensions, create a
new version from the version 0 of each Oracle
predefined algorithm that you have extended.
You should have generated a list of extended
algorithms by following the Identify Algorithms
Extensions steps described in the Pre-Update
Steps section of this document.
4. Reconcile your algorithm changes to this new
version. Make sure there are no additional
changes made for disabling caching.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each algorithm
extension.
6. When you are ready to test your changes,
select Actions > Promote All to promote the
algorithms, and then publish your modified
algorithms. Verify the functional flows after
publishing.

Note: If you do not perform a Promote All action before

publishing, algorithms may reference version 1 algorithms
in the prior release.
