This should be obvious enough to go without saying given how this is a game made
in, you know, Japan, but amazingly enough there are idiots who will argue otherwise
all day so I guess it has to be said: Miyazaki stated in an interview before that
the text is originally written in Japanese and later translated to English (with
the voice recordings coming last), and the translation company itself says the
exact same thing (「宮崎さんによる日本語のセリフ原案を元にした英語の脚本の制作」="(We) make
the English script based on Miyazaki-san's Japanese lines."）. So yeah: If the
English text contradicts something in the Japanese text, it's wrong. If the English
text has nuances the Japanese text doesn't, those nuances are wrong. It's that
simple.

The literal translations listed here are meant to clarify meanings and nuances.
They are not suggestions for alternate translations.

Due to the wording of "high lord" and the crown's description calling him "the one
high lord", some interpret this as meaning Wolnir is positioned above the other
lords. The Japanese text has no such nuances, and "the one" in the crown
description is not even present in the source text.

Pontiff Sulyvahn 法王サリヴァーン Lord of the Laws, Sullivahn 教皇サライヴァー
ン 法王 is the Japanese translation of pope/hierophant/pontiff. Also, the
Japanese includes 王 = lord, keeping with the theme of lots of lords in the game.
法王 is also used as a Japanese translation for Hindu dharmaraja, the Dalai Lama,
and Islamic caliph.

The name is pronounced like "Sullivan", except with a longer "van".

In Japanese, Braille is 点字 = "dot-words" which is just a descriptive word that
might work in a fantasy setting, while in English it's named after some French guy
which may not fit.

Could mean "greatshield that resists curses" or "greatshield that resisted a
curse". Should be noted that the "Pursuer" boss in Dark Souls 2 was named the 呪縛者
