The purpose of the article

In this ever changing world of the 21st century where a new something becomes obsolete

very quickly in very less time, in this era of the internet where everyone is connected with

everyone else and the world has become a global village where the physical distance is neglected

and globalization is booming companies are using technology more than ever to gain competitive

advantage. This article explains the use of information technology by organizations to become

more productive. The article also redefines the vision of global corporations which is the key

ingredient in the global corporate strategy.

How the article supports my argument

The article basically presents the idea of information technology and its implications to

the global businesses. In the CLA 1 we are to analyze the cross-functional organizations,

business intelligence, customer relationship management, and the use of social media which all

comes under information technology. With the use of information technology, organizations are

able to understand the customer habits in great detail and provide them with better goods and

services thus gaining more customer loyalty and more market share. With the use of the

information technology organizations are able to transfer, store, and process huge amount of

data.

Most important aspect of the article

The article talks about the importance of information technology in the modern business

world and how it helps them to gain competitive advantage over the competition, the article also

talks about the information technology relation with global vision, corporate strategy, cultural

diversity, and global supply chain management (Ahmed, Qadri, Shahzad, & Khilji, 2011) which
makes it very easier to know the importance of it. The article is related to CLO 7 as it directly

talks about how to achieve success in the global economy as well.

Findings and conclusion

The world has shrunk down to become a global village in terms of reachability and

communication and globalization has played a huge role in that. Today we can enjoy the

products made thousands of kilometers away at our whim, talk with anyone anywhere in the

world through the help of internet. In such world where boarders and barriers are the things of

past, the organizations should manager their corporate philosophy in order to survive in the long

run.

Industry example

There are many examples of companies that uses information technology to gain global

success. I would like to provide an example of how Amazon uses information technology to

dominate the world market of online shopping. Amazon uses information technology to link

directly information system and its development using logical analysis. The company produces

structured reports on a daily basis on various elements of the company. Management Information

System (MIS) of the company is basically a set of inter-related machines which are organized in

a hierarchical structure that covers all components of the company. The company was also first

to start a service of customer reviews on any of its product.
