11 think about your in- salon routine. (PAUSE)

21 This time let us learn about the first technique. What is the first technique again?

22 Correct! The first is analyze hair texture (PAUSE)

23 When we say texture it means the visual surface characteristics of something.

24 So here is what to do for you to analyze hair texture (PAUSE).Listen very carefully.

25 First, take a strand of your hair at the crown. Meaning on the very top of your head.

26 Second, slide your thumb and index finger up and away from the root to assess the thickness.

27 By doing so you will get to know if your client’s hair is fine, medium or coarse.
28 You can try it in your own hair this time. So first, take a strand of your hair at the crown.
29 When we say strand it means one single hair. Are you doing it now?

1 Next thing you will do is ( PAUSE) slide your thumb and index finger up and away from the root to
2 assess the thickness of you hair (PAUSE).
3 So I think you can now determine whether your hair is fine, medium or coarse.

5 RADIO TEACHER: The second technique in analyzing your client’s hair is to test elasticity.

6 When we say elasticity (PAUSE) this means (PAUSE) capable of being easily stretched or expanded and

7 resuming former shape.

8 How do we test elasticity ? Here’s how.

9 First, is hold the strand of dammed hair firmly between both thumbs and index fingers.

10 Then, gently stretch it.

11 Healthy hair will expand up to one –fourth of its length and return to its original size.

12 Now, you can test the elasticity of your hair on your own. Ready? (PAUSE). First hold the strand of

13 dammed hair firmly between both thumbs and index fingers.

14 Then gently stretch it. Done?

15 If your hair is healthy your hair will expand up to one fourth of its length and return to its original size

16 as we already know. But when your is porous, it will stretch further loose its from or break up.

18 RADIO TEACHER: You already know two of the three techniques in analyzing your hair.

19 Now, at last let us learn the third technique that is assess porosity.

20 What is porosity? (PAUSE) You may ask me? (PAUSE)

21 Porosity means the capability of being penetrated.

22 Here’s how to assess porosity.

23 First, hold a small section of hair between your thumbs and index fingers with strong, even tension

24 Then, slide your thumb and index finger up and down to observe both reflection and roughness

25 Healthy hair will reflect light and porous hair will absorb light.

26 Now, do you think you can check the porosity of your hair? Can you do it alone?

27 To repeat, to check porosity hold a small section of hair between your thumbs and index fingers with

28 strong, even tension

29 Then, slide your thumb and index finger up and down to observe both reflection and roughness

30 As I said, healthy hair will reflect light and porous hair will absorb light.
