Salt’n Pepper restaurants are Pakistan’s most recognized and distinguished hospitality
brand with a history of market innovation and excellence in restaurant chain operations.
Regarded and respected as number one restaurant entity in the country by both local and
foreign observers, Salt’n Pepper restaurants are a benchmark in food, quality and
hospitality. Salt’n Pepper started as a place for friends, family and neighbors to gather.
The tradition continues even now since the group has held true to its origins a passion for
flavors, creativity and tradition.

The Salt’n Pepper group is led by Mahmood Akbar, viewed as Pakistan’s most proficient
restaurateur and hotelier. Mahmood’s culinary education began at home. Given his
parents love for food it was natural that Mahmood would make his mark in the food
business. After completing his studies in Hotel Management from USA, Mahmood joined
Hilton International Chain as the Food & Beverage Manager. He also worked briefly with
Hilton International in Hong Kong and the Far East before returning to Pakistan. He quit
the job after five years to fulfill his dream of launching Pakistan’s first restaurant chain.
Now even after 25 years in business, Mahmood remains as passionate as ever about food
and hospitality. His restaurants use the freshest and the best available ingredients along
with regular in-house trainings and strict quality controls. He ensures that fresh
vegetables, fruits and meat are bought everyday and consumed by the same night.
Recently Britain’s most prestigious and largest book publisher, Dorling Kindersley
approached him to co-author an international book on Curry. The book features recipes
for making curry from around the world and Mahmood’s contributions have been
globally appreciated by food lovers.

The Salt’n Pepper group currently comprises seven restaurants in the two provinces of
Pakistan. Each restaurant offers superlative food quality and unique dining experience to
food aficionados. It all started with the launch of the first Salt’n Pepper Restaurant on the
Mall in Lahore in 1983. Regarded as the mother branch of the Salt’n Pepper family, the
Salt’n Pepper Mall is located in the education and business hub of the city. Similar to the
Mall Road branch, the Salt’n Pepper Restaurant in Liberty is among the most visited
restaurants of Lahore, with a daily turnout of almost 2,500 customers. The Salt’n Pepper
Liberty restaurant also has an Al Fresco dining area surrounded with shopping activities
of the famous Liberty market throughout the day and well into the night.

The Salt’n Pepper Village Restaurants in Lahore and Karachi portrays a picture of the
rural Pakistan. These restaurants have revolutionized the dining experiences in Pakistan,
offering classic sub-continental specialty dishes in a live buffet style. The Salt’n Pepper
Village in Lahore has a seating capacity of 350. This restaurant is said to have created the
elite food street of Lahore on the M.M. Alam Road. The restaurant has had the honor to
host many dignitaries including the late Benazir Bhutto, Lady Diana and Indian Prime
Minister. The Salt’n Pepper Village in Karachi has created waves of its own. Located on
the sea coast, this 550 seats restaurant offers a scenic view of the Arabian Sea and the
daily inflow runs into thousands. It is considered as the largest and also the most popular
restaurant of the metropolis.

The Salt’n Pepper Grill in Lahore offers the most scrumptious and sumptuous grilled
meat, poultry and seafood experience in Pakistan. This restaurant is one of the most well-
kept and lively restaurants in Lahore, where visitors can have intimate and private meals
in dining halls, or have pleasurable dining experience in an Alfresco Garden Area. The
Salt’n Pepper group proudly owns country’s most advanced health and lifestyle club; the
Sukh Cha’n Wellness Club in Lahore. Located in a posh vicinity, Sukh Cha’n has more
than 4,500 members subscribing to Club’s services, amenities and facilities which
include the best gymnasium in Pakistan, a temperature controlled swimming pool,
Jacuzzi, sauna/steam rooms, café for unique dining experience and a lounge to hold
