Lefty is an informal word used popularly for people who use their left hands to do virtually
everything. no one has come up with a particular reason why some people are left-handed but
according to research about 13% of the populationaround the world are left - handed. Researchers
also think it is genetic i.e it runs in the blood of blood related people. There is the believe that there is
a particular geneand if you have that gene one or more of your children may be left ʹhanded. Also if
you are left-handed yourself,you already have that gene and will pass it on through the generations.

In science the brain works in a complex manner,it is cross-wired.i mean the left hemisphere
controls the right -handed side of the body and the right hemisphere controls the left- handed side
which is why researchers think only left-handers are in their right minds!funny isn͛t it?

The left hemisphere according to how the brain is organised controls speech, language, writing,
logic, mathematics, science this is the 



. Most right handed people possess
good scientific and writing skills. They also have speech control.

The right hemisphere which is controlled by the left hand controls music, art, creativity,
perception, emotion, etc this is the   


Most left-handed people are creative,
emotional and they possess art skills. They are also often good in things that involve hand-to-eye co-
ordination.

Left-handers have certain attributes, they often reach puberty 4-5months after right handers.
They are more intelligent although there are some dumb lefties. They are better looking most times,
they are also imaginative wow! great qualities you would say but they also have their own
weaknesses.

First from research a handful of individuals believe that left- handed people have criminal
tendencies. Most notorious criminals were said to have been left-handed I may not be able to
mention names but osama bin laden ,sadam hussein were left-handed. Although thereare some few
left-handed stars &achievers talk about Isaac newton, George bush, Wole soyinka, Kanu nwankwo
and so on.

Left-handers sometimes struggle with stuttering an attribute most right handers have over left
handers.They sometimes face the problem of dyslexia a condition when they are unable to read and
write well.(word blindness) but this is not very common.

Another problem is being clumsy and awkward especially when they are being forced to use right-
handed tools and machinery.they also find it difficult to switch to the right hand when they are
expected to, a lawyer gave an account of how she almost infuriated the judge when she raised her
left hand in court instead of right.A friend of mine was almost slapped when she stretched forth her
left hand to collect something from an elderly man. Another lefty friend shakes hands with the left. It
is also said that when a leftie wants to receive a call and at the same time write the message down
he is faced with a bit of difficulty.

Lefties are well known to be mostly genuises but does this now mean that only lefties are
genuises?NO! research has proven that there is a degree of left-handedness in everyone.if you want
to know how much of left-handedness you͛ve got try this:

If your left keeps coming first in most cases then there is a level of left-handedness in
you.there are also people who can use both hands conveniently.this are the real special
people because they have got both the left and right co-ordination.
But if you are asking for my own opinion I feel left handed people stand out because there
are not so many of them and they look fascinating with the way they do things but on the
whole whether you are right-handed ,left-handed or make use of both everyone is unique in
his or her own way and there is a drop of greatness and intelligence in everyone.
