Palesa Mine falls under the Thembisile Hani Local Municipality jurisdiction but also
borders Ekangala Township under the Tshwane Metro Municipality (Tshwane Region 7)

HCI Coal has a local first strategy
Vendors are required to:
• Employ locally
• Procure locally
• Include a CSI element into project, that directly benefits the local community
• Appointed vendors are also encouraged to transfer skills to the local people
Tenders process is fair and transparent and adjudicated according to our local first
strategy

Our tender process supports local entrepreneurs without compromising quality,


safety and service at our mines

• Local – Thembisile Hani District, Tshwane region 7
• Black owned – Black Ownership >50%

Tonnage Available
• 100 000 tons per month
• Trucks are expected to, on average, complete three trips a day
• We require multiple vendors who can supply a fleet of trucks totaling
40 trucks

How to succeed
• Take the time to read the documents and apply accordingly
• Submit all relevant documents or your application will be declined
• If your business does not have the relevant experience, JV/ partner with a
company that does
• Do not send us false information – you lose credibility immediately
• Prove that your business is local – list your business address and provide
documents
• Show us your business exists, provide your business registration
documents
• Make sure you submit the proposal on time

Our tenders are awarded without compromising quality, service and safety at
our mines

Phase 1
• A request for proposal will be issued on 04 April 2019
• Interested businesses to submit proposals by 15 April 2019
• Ensure you have all required information as per the checklist
• Your application will be declined if any required information is not
provided as per the checklist
• This means your business will not proceed to Phase 2
Phase 2 – Dates to be advised
• Proposals will be audited for checklist compliance
• Adjudication of proposals
• HCI Coal conducts equipment audits and agreements of proposed vehicles
• Vendor interviews
Phase 3 – Dates to be advised
• Shortlisting
• Appoint vendors
