FOREMAN TRAINING- TRAINING OF SUPERVISORS

Due to the success of the Foreman training we have been approached by our members to host another
Foreman training workshop to up skill their Site Supervisory Management which includes foreman / leading
hands charge hands etc) in the age group 25 to 45 .

The program will be run over 10-12 modules (one module per month) at a cost of approximately R650.00 per
module (subject to change) (levy paying members will be subsidised by the MBA Skills Development
Trust). We will require 12 candidates to run this program, commencing in June 2014.

After each module the candidate will undergo a competency test and if found competent this module will be
included in a Certificate of Competency. If the candidate chooses not write the competency test at the end of
each module he will be issued a Certificate of Attendance at the end of the program .

A module could last one day. The maximum length of time would be two full days. It is anticipated that these
modules will either be on a Wednesday or Thursday of each month.

Currently the modules that we are looking at are: (The modules are subject to change)

1 Labour Management which includes Disciplinary processes and management of the BIBC Collective
Agreement
2 Health & Safety for Supervisors
3 Read and Interpret Drawings
4 Basic Setting Out *****(If the candidates have a maths literacy problem this may mean that they
would have to attend a maths literacy course run over 5 Saturday mornings at a cost
to be determined)

5 Basic Estimating which includes how to determine the cost of an activity


6 Programming an activity
7 Managing and controlling Sub Contractors
8 Quality Control

9 Report Writing with the emphasis on how to keep a proper work diary and record relevant
information/activities
10 Understanding Contract Documentation

Certificate will be a joint certificate issued by the training provider and this Association.
