 Follow: In this activity only gestures or actions of the pupils will be needed because this must be a
ACTIONsilent game. The pupils will follow whatever the teacher acts.
 Motivation: Have you heard of a story before? What is the title of the story?
Today, you will hear another story.
 Review: The teacher will recall the basic elements of a story first. A story will be presented on the screen
and the students will identify the characters, the setting, and what is the story all about.
 Instruct: Today I will show a short video about a story entitled: Cussly in the Playground
 Make: Let the students make their own predictions of what will happen to the story.
 Ask: What is happening in the story? What is going to happen in the story?

Activity Discussion
 Ask: Who are the characters in story? What is the story all about? What happened to the characters in the
story?
 Summarize student response. Conclude: It was recess, every kids are playing in the playground and

taking turns in sitting on the seesaw, swing, and slide. But there’s one kid who just arrived and started
E pushing the other kids because he wanted to be the only one to play. The kids started going back to their
classrooms. While Cussly is one the swing he suddenly falls to the ground. The other kids helped him. He
apologized to the kids for being mean.
 Values: To think in advance on the consequences will make us become careful in the decision we
make. This lesson will promote the value of being thoughtful on your daily actions.
General Discussion

 Ask: How do you make predictions? Does it set our expectations? Does it help in our comprehension?
How about comparing our thinking with what the author has written?
 Summarize student response. Conclude: Start by reading the title of the story. Look for clues about the
character and their actions in the story. Then we use it to guess what will happen next in the story.
Guessing makes our story interesting because we think differently from each other.
Higher Order Thinking

 Ask: What do you think would have happened if Cussly asked politely the other kids to play on the
swing?
 Summarize student response. Conclude: If Cussly had asked politely and hadn’t pushed the other kids
then they could have prevented him from falling on the ground.
Groupwork
Activity: The students will be working by group. Each of the groups will be given a set of situation with a
picture and they will have to predict what will happen next. They will have to make three (3) predictions for
each. They will be sent to a breakout room for 15 minutes to discuss with each other their answers.
