General Instructions:-
1. This question paper comprises of three sections, A,B and C. You have to attempt all the sections.
4. Question numbers 1 to 20 in Section-A are one mark questions which include MCQ, VSA type and assertion-
reason type questions. These are to be answered in one word or once sentence.
5. Question number 21 to 30 in Section-B are three marks questions which include short answer type questions.
These are to be answered in about 50-60 words each.
6. Question number 31 to 36 in Section-B are five marks questions which include long answer type questions.
These are to be answered in about 80 - 90 words each.

31. (a) What is the role of fuse used in series with any electrical appliance?
(b) Why should a fuse with defined rating not be replaced by one with a larger rating?
(c) Name the three types of wires used in household circuits. Out of these three which wire is used as a
safety measure especially for those appliances that have metallic body? State the colour of insulation
used for this wire. How it ensures the safety of the user?
32. (a) Resistors are given as R1 = 10 ohm, R2 = 20 ohm, and R3 = 30 ohm. Calculate the effective resistance
when they are connected in series. Also calculate the current flowing when the combination is connected
to a 6 V battery.
(b) Two bulbs A and B are rated as 90 W -120V and 60 W -120 V respectively. They are connected in
parallel across a 120 V source. Find the current in each bulb. Which bulb will consume more energy?
(c) The filament of an electric lamp, which draws a current of 0.2 A, is used for 5 hours. Calculate the
amount of charge flowing through the circuit.
