b. Areas of apparent conflict between documents shall be brought to the attention of
Company for resolution.
c. In the event of a conflict between this document and a relevant law or regulation, the
relevant law or regulation shall be followed. If the document creates a higher obligation, it
shall be followed as long as this also achieves full compliance with the law or regulation.
d. Design, engineering, procurement, and construction for equipment shall comply with the
statutory laws and regulations of the final location of the asset. Refer to documents
identified in the Purchase Order for a list of these regulations.
e. For projects where the final location of the asset is in the EU:
1. Products supplied shall be confirmed to comply with applicable EU directives.
2. A Declaration of Conformity shall be provided.
3. The CE mark shall be affixed to the package nameplate.
4. Components supplied shall be listed together with the EU directives with which they
comply and the rationale by which compliance has been achieved.
5. A Technical File in compliance with applicable EU directives shall be compiled and
retained for a period of 10 years.
6 Basic design
6.1 General
6.1.1 Add
a. Plan shall be supplied that identifies when the 3 year of uninterrupted service period
begins.
b. The Plan shall identify required start up and commissioning inspection requirements.
6.1.5 Modify to Read
Noise control shall conform to the noise section of GIS 40-103, or GIS 40-104, if included in
the Purchase Order, or other documents in the Purchase Order.

6.1.21 Instruments and valves, including auxiliary systems, shall be securely mounted and supported to
prevent damage during shipment, storage, operation, and maintenance.
6.1.22 Pumps shall conform to HI 6.1-6.5.
6.3 Ratings
6.3.1 Delete Note 2
Add
a. If NPSHR is within 1.5 m (5 ft) of (NPSHA) (including preliminary estimated system
acceleration head), speeds shall be less than 80% of those listed in Table 3 and Table 4.
b. Direct acting pumps shall not exceed 30 strokes/min conforming to Table 4.

6.3.8 Unless approved otherwise by BP responsible engineer, liquid end shall be sized using
volumetric efficiency less than or equal to:
a. 90%, if piston type.
b. 95%, if plunger type.
6.3.9 a. Maximum allowable continuous rod loading shall not be exceeded at maximum rated
pressure.
b. Maximum allowable continuous rod loading value and calculation shall be provided for
review by Company responsible engineer.

6.4.7 Rabbet fits may be used for component alignment.
6.5.14 Flanges
6.5.14.6 Modify to Read
Flat faced flanges with full raised face thickness may be used except with cast iron.

6.7.2.6 Body and follower type pistons shall not be used.

6.7.5.7 a. Stuffing box mounting surfaces shall be square with bore.
b. Bore shall be concentric with alignment shoulder.
c. Maximum TIR of these surfaces and bores shall be 25 µm (0.001 in).
d. Gland openings for connection of pipe shall be labelled with metal tags.

6.9.8 Direct acting pump drive cylinder shall have drain connection at each end of each piston
chamber.
6.10 Lubrication
Add
6.10.1.9 Oil reservoirs shall include the following as a minimum:
a. Capacity that is designed to allow for system rundown and provide a retention time of
3 min to settle out moisture and debris unless approved otherwise by BP responsible
engineer.
b. Fill connections, armoured gauge glass, level indicator, and breathers designed for outdoor
use.
c. Sloped bottoms and connections for complete drainage.
d. Cleanout openings.
6.11 Materials
6.11.2 General
6.11.2.1 Add
a. Materials shall be subject to approval by Company responsible engineer.
b. Materials for pressure containing parts shall conform to 6.11.2.1.1 through 6.11.2.1.5.

6.11.2.1.1 For flammable, hazardous, or toxic pumped fluid at temperatures between -29°C and 399°C
(-20°F and 750°F), material shall be carbon steel, minimum.
6.11.2.1.2 For noncorrosive, nonflammable, nonhazardous, nontoxic pumped fluid at temperatures
between -29°C and 343°C (-20°F and 650°F) and pressures to 7,000 kPag (1,000 psig), material
shall be nodular iron, minimum.
6.11.2.1.3 For noncorrosive, nonflammable, nonhazardous, nontoxic pumped fluid format temperatures
between -18°C and 232°C (0°F and 450°F) and pressures to 1,750 kPag (250 psig), material
shall be cast iron, minimum.
6.11.2.1.4 For salt water pumped fluid, material with chemistry shall conform to ASTM B148,
Type C 95800, (nickel aluminium bronze, minimum, with minimum 4.5% nickel).
6.11.2.1.5 For raw seawater, material shall be duplex stainless steel, minimum.
6.11.2.11 Modify to Read
If data sheets indicate presence of hydrogen sulphide in liquid, materials exposed to that liquid
shall be selected in conformance to GIS 36-250, if included in the Purchase Order. For Refining
applications sour service requirements are defined in GP 36-26.
6.11.6 Welding
6.11.6.3 Add
d) Piping welds shall be 100% radiographed.
e) Test procedure and results shall be submitted and shall be subject to approval by Company
responsible engineer.
f) Welds shall have either magnetic particle inspection or liquid penetrant inspection, subject
to Company approval.
7 Accessories
7.1 Drivers
7.1.2 Motors
7.1.2.1 Modify to Read
a. Motors shall conform to the one of the following specifications, as included in the
Purchase Order.
1. GIS 12-201.
2. GIS 12-202.
3. GIS 12-203.
4. GIS 12-204.
b. Consideration shall be given to the starting conditions of both the driver and pump and the
possibility that these conditions can be different from the normal operating conditions.
c. Motor service factor shall be 1.15.
d. Motor data sheets shall be fully completed.
7.4.1 General
7.4.1.4 Add
a. Mounting plates shall have vertical jacking bolts to facilitate levelling prior to grouting.
b. Each pump and driver support (including gear, if any) shall have alignment positioning
screws in longitudinal and transverse horizontal directions to facilitate alignment in the
field.
7.4.1.9 Add
a. Peelable shims shall not be used.
b. Step shimming or tapered shims shall not be used under equipment single mounting foot.
c. Motors requiring full length support or tapered or stepped shims shall not be used.
7.5.1 General
Add
Controls and instrumentation shall conform to the following sections of GIS 40-103, or
GIS 40-104, if included in the Purchase Order, or other documents in the Purchase Order:
a. Electrical, control, instrumentation, and telecommunications installation.
b. Electrical design.
c. Instruments and control.
d. Instrumentation and control panels.
e. Installation of field instruments and tubing.

7.5.5.5 Minimum alarm and trip switches shall be as Table 14.
7.5.5.6 a. Instruments and controls other than shutdown sensing devices, shall have valving to permit
their replacement while the system is in operation.
b. If shutoff valves are specified for shutdown sensing devices, a means of locking the valves
in the open position shall be provided.

7.5.6.1 a. Power and control wiring within the confines of the baseplate shall be resistant to oil, heat,
moisture, and abrasion.
b. Stranded connectors shall be used within the confines of the baseplate and in other areas
subject to vibration.
c. Power and control cables shall conform to GIS 12-151 or GIS 12-152 (the version in the
Purchase Order applies).
d. Wiring shall be sized for the full range of expected temperatures for both operating and
environment.
7.5.6.2 Leads on terminal strips, switches, and instruments shall be permanently tagged for
identification unless otherwise specified.

d. Impact of acceleration head loss on process piping in supplier scope shall be determined.
As a minimum, the system acceleration head shall be calculated in conformance to the
equation in API 674, Annex E, and HI 6.1-6.5.
7.7.1 General
7.7.1.1 Add
a. The following additional engineering data shall be provided:
1. Peak to peak pulsation at pump flanges as % of line pressures.
2. Suction manifold length and diameter.
3. Discharge manifold length and diameter.
4. Suction valve velocity.
5. Discharge valve velocity.
b. The following information, required for pump modelling in both acoustical pulsation and
mechanical piping analysis, shall be provided after Purchase Order:
1. Plunger barrel and liquid end manifold dimension and clearances.
2. Valve, valve lift, and valve spring data required for dynamic modelling.
3. RPM, stroke, crank angles, and other dimensional information required to model
plunger reciprocating action.
4. Dimensional data for liquid end connections and preliminary locations in reference to
baseplate.
7.7.1.2 Add to a)
Pulsation suppression devices for pump suction and discharge connections shall be provided.
7.7.1.3 Add
a. A design analysis for pulsation and vibration control shall be undertaken for pumps greater
than 75 kW (100 hp).
b. Supplier shall use Annex C.1.3, Analysis Approach 2, if stated on data sheets, for the
following critical installations:
1. Multiple pumps in parallel.
2. Variable speed pumps.
3. Pumps with multiple fluid types.
4. Variable operating conditions.
c. Critical installations shall also include pumps with high process safety risk, such as
pumping flammable fluids at high rates or pressures, if stated on data sheets.
d. Supplier shall conform to pump design requirement of Annex C, Sections C.1.5, C.1.6, and
C.1.7.
Add
8.1 General
8.1.1 Add
a. Prior to the start of manufacture, an ITP shall be submitted for approval by Company
responsible engineer.
b. The ITP shall include inspection and testing activities to be performed, including those at
sub-suppliers’ works and shall make reference to all testing procedures, control documents,
and resulting records and reports.
8.1.3 Add
a. Company and the Company appointed representative shall at all times have access to the
workshops and testing facilities, including workshops of sub-suppliers engaged in
supplying material or in fabricating the equipment for the purpose of inspecting the
purchased equipment.
b. Company and the Company appointed representative shall be granted permission to
photograph the equipment in the scope of the Purchase Order during manufacturing,
assembly and test.
8.1.6 Add
Notice of at least 10 working days shall be provided for Company observed, or witnessed
testing.
8.1.9 Add
The quality management system shall conform to ISO 9001, API Specification Q1, or other
agreed internationally recognised standard to ensure that the products and services provided
conform to the requirements for supplier quality identified in the Purchase Order.
8.2 Inspection
Add
8.2.2.1.3 PMI, shall conform to GIS 36-103, if specified in the Purchase Order.
8.3 Testing
8.3.2.4 Modify Last Sentence to Read
To prevent deposition of chlorides on austenitic stainless steel as a result of evaporated drying
after testing:
a. Water shall be totally drained.
b. Standing water shall not be allowed to evaporate to dryness.
c. Standing water shall be wiped dry.
d. New seals, gaskets and “o” rings shall be used to rebuild the pump.
8.3.2.5 Modify Second Sentence to Read
The hydrostatic test shall be considered satisfactory when neither leak nor seepage through the
cylinder or cylinder joint is observed within a 2 hour period.
8.3.2.5 Delete Third and Fourth Sentences.

8.4.3.11 Pumps shall be completely drained and dried after test.
8.4.3.12 If specified, packing and plunger shall be removed from stuffing boxes before shipment.

8.4.9 a. Equipment or materials that contain or are coated with any regulated substances, such as
the following, shall be prominently tagged at openings to indicate nature of contents and
precautions for shipping, storage, and handling:
1. Insulating oils.
2. Corrosion inhibitors.
3. Antifreeze solutions.
4. Desiccants.
5. Chemical substances.
6. Hydrocarbon substances.
b. Regulated substances shall have a MSDS.
c. MSDSs shall fully conform to regulations for MSDS preparation specified by entity that
has jurisdiction and shall include a statement that the substance is considered hazardous by
regulation.
d. If a substance is exempt from regulation, a statement to that effect shall be included.
e. Before shipment, MSDSs shall be forwarded to receiving facility.
f. At shipment, MSDSs in protective envelopes shall be affixed to the outside of the
shipment.
8.4.10 Any item that has to be removed for shipping shall be identified with metal tag that includes
item number, part or assembly name, and part number.
9 Supplier’s deliverables
9.1 General
Add
9.1.4 Technical data, registers, documents, and drawings that together define the scope of the
Purchase Order shall conform to the requirements for supplier information identified in the
Purchase Order.
9.2 Proposals
9.2.2 Drawings
Add
9.2.2.3 Rating and conditions of service shall be provided for applicable components such as pumps
and their drivers, heat exchangers, and heaters.
