System Hierarchy Setting Training
1 OUTLINE .......................................................................................................................................................... 3
1 OUTLINE
1.1 Configure the System Hierarchy
System Hierarchy is the folder definition and arrangement of the Plant or Project. The Hierarchy is
used to group the objects according to discipline or area/unit during modeling on SP3D.
Moreover, when we want to refer to the other discipline's object, if it is hard to recognize where the
object is modeled in the hierarchy, it would impede the project execution, so the hierarchy should not
be deep to understand easily.
This training will help you set up the System Hierarchy.
The System Hierarchy appears on SP3D like Explorer of Windows, which is called Workspace
Explorer.
To organize the Objects on SP3D, you need to have a System Hierarchy set up in advance.
One of the administrators must set up the System Hierarchy, where all users can refer to the
Hierarchy.
There are two ways to create System Hierarchy.
One is to create manually on SP3D, and the other way is to import Excel sheet wherein a template is
used to define the Hierarchy setting.
(2) Set the Work Space using Define Work Space command.
(5) New Generic System will be added on the list, and then double click on the name and change it to
‘JGC_Training’.
(6) After creating ‘JGC_Training’ hierarchy, create different types of hierarchies under this
hierarchy.
• Generic System
• Conduit System
• HVAC System
• Electrical System
• Equipment System
• Piping System
• Pipeline System
• Structure System
• Unit System
• Area System
Example
(2) Set the Work Space using Define Work Space command.
(5) Set the Excel file to import and select a destination for the log file. And then click ‘Import’ button.
(7) System hierarchy from Excel file is imported as in the following example.
(1) In SYSTEM_HIERARCHY sheet, input the Piping System and Unit System, with their
respective Unit names as shown below.
Unit Name
+Dummy Unit System
Unit Name
+Dummy Unit System
(2) Create a new sheet and rename it with the same Piping System name which you defined in the
SYSTEM_HIERARCHY sheet.
※Caution
Piping Spec can be defined at the same time as Pipeline System.
This means that only the specified Piping Spec may be used for that specific Pipeline System.
If you use several Piping Specs, leave this column blank.
(2) Set the Work Space using Define Work Space command.
(5) Set the Excel file to import and select a destination for the log file. And then click ‘Import’ button.
(7) Pipeline System hierarchy from Excel file is imported as in the following example.
2.3.3 Move the Pipeline System and edit the System Hierarchy.
Move all Pipeline System from Piping System to Unit System Hierarchy.
(2) Select the equivalent dummy Unit System for Parent System and click OK button.
(3) There is no pipeline under the Piping System hierarchy, so right click the unnecessary Piping
System and click Delete button.
(4) Select dummy Unit System and open Properties and then rename to the correct Unit name.
(5) Repeat the above steps to move all the other Pipeline System to its appropriate Unit System.
