Aims:

1.revise and consolidate The Present Tense Continuous

2. making students confident in their ability to use the language

3. creating interest in the topic of the lesson

4. creating a relaxed atmosphere proper for studying

6. foster learner independence and cooperative learning

7. stimulating students imagination and creativity

8. to give students more practice on pronuntiation,vocabulary to be taught

Objectives/Specific Competences:

At the end of the lesson the students will be able :

1. to consolidate the form and function of the Present Tense Continuous


2. to practise listening, reading and speaking skills.
3. to use the key vocabulary and grammar structures correctly.
4. to use body language (miming) when referring to actions happening at the moment of
speaking or expressing ability.

Activity 1: Beginning the lesson


Procedure: T. greets Ss. and checks the presence in class.
Ss. tell the T. the names of the Ss. who are absent.
T. asks Ss. whether they had any kind of home assignment.
Ss. answer T.’s question
Aims: - to start the lesson in a proper manner;
- to check who is present in class;
- to establish a connection between the previous lesson and the new one;
Timing: 2 min

Activity 2: Warm Up
Procedure: T starts miming different activities and the students have to guess the activities
mimed by the teacher.
Aims: -to get the students in the mood for the lesson
-to elicit the answers from the students
Timing: 5 min

Activity 3: Matching Exercise


Procedure: Teacher asks students to open their books on page 15.Students do as
instructed.Teacher refers to the picture on page 15 and asks students questions related to that
particular picture. Students give their answers. Teacher reads the instructions,the example and
she explains the task. She allows them enough time to complete the task. They can check
their answers with their partners.
Aim: to associate pictures with the right verbs
Timing: 15 min

Activity 4: Listening Practice


Procedure: Teacher asks the students to look at the picture in Exercise 4.Teachers goes
through the picture and elicits the chores that the people are doing.Teachers explains the
task.She plays the recording twice if necessary. The pupils listen and match in their
notebooks. Teachers checks their answers.
Aims: to develop their listening skills

Timing: 10 min

Activity 5: Worksheet
Procedure: Teacher distributes the worksheets.She asks students to work in pairs.Students
have to complete the sentences with the verb in the parenthesis.Teacher checks the answers
with the students.
Aims: to practise writing skills and provide feedback
to provide students with further practise on the topic;
to check students’ work and make sure the task was completed accordingly;
Timing: 15 min

Ending the lesson


Procedure: Teacher writes the home assignment on the blackboard.
Students. write the home assignment in their notebooks
Teacher thanks students for the lesson and greets them.
Aims: -to provide further practice on the topic;
- to make sure Ss. are provided with enough practice for next time;
-to end the lesson in an appropriate way;
Timing: 3 min
