Intel® Management Engine (ME) Firmware update Procedure

This utility updates the ME Firmware.

Please read this document carefully before using the utility.

1 ME Firmware versions to be updated

Confirm your computer is one of the following ME Firmware versions.

2 CAUTION:

 Log on to Windows as an administrator.

 Connect the AC adaptor and the battery pack, do not remove them until ME Firmware
update is complete.
 Back up important data to other media or an external hard disk before ME Firmware
update.
 Only for Windows 7 and turning on BitLocker Drive Encryption
Suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption until ME Firmware update is complete.

For Intel® AMT user
 After firmware update, AMT setting will be cleared. Regarding re-setting,
please ask system administrator.
 After firmware update, the application which uses Intel® Identity
Protection Technology may not work correctly. In that case, please ask the
manufacture of application.

3 Procedure

3.1 Confirm the ME Firmware version

(1) Execute PC Information Viewer.

Click "All apps" on the taskbar at bottom.
Click "PC Information Viewer" in "Panasonic" menu.

Right-click the blank area on start screen.
Click "All apps" on the taskbar at bottom.
Click "PC Information Viewer" in "Panasonic" menu.
Windows 7
Click [Start] - [All Programs] - [Panasonic] - [PC Information Viewer]
- [PC Information Viewer]
(2) Select the [Setup] tab. Check the ME Firmware version from item of “Intel(R) ME
Firmware”.
(3) Confirm the ME Firmware version is same as ‘Target ME Firmware version’ in the table
above.

3.2 Preparing the ME Firmware update program

(1) Turn on the computer and log on to Windows as an administrator.

(2) Execute the downloaded file.
(3) Click [Yes] at the User Access Control screen when this screen is displayed.
(4) Read the license agreement carefully, and click [Yes].
(5) The screen to specify the destination location appears. The default location is
“c:¥UpdateMeFirmware2”. Specify your location and click [OK]. (You usually don’t
need to change the location.)
(6) Wait until the destination folder is displayed.

3.3 Execute the ME Firmware update program

(1) Execute “UpdateMeFirmware.bat” in the destination folder.

(2) Click [Yes] at the User Access Control screen when this screen is displayed.
(3) The message of “The computer restarts automatically after update. Do you want to
continue? (Y/N)” is displayed. If you accept restart after update, press [Y] and Enter.
(4) ME Firmware update program will run. Wait for 1～4 minutes. Automatically, Windows
will restart after completing ME Firmware update. If Windows does not restart
automatically within 1 minute after “FW Update” reaches “100%”, please restart
manually.
(5) Confirm the ME Firmware version is updated to ‘New ME Firmware version’ in the
table above in PC Information Viewer. (Refer to procedure 3.1)
