1.0 OBJECTIVE

To provide all information concerning the activities to ensure compliance with

requirement approved drawing, technical specification, standards and code of practice.
The method of statement highlights all aspect of activities in connection with the
installation of exhaust fan to ensure that works are carried out to the latest
specification, specification, standards and code of practice and the installation can be
correctly monitored and installed.

2.0 SCOPES

To define and establish the method of statement for installation of exhaust fan with
reference to approved shop drawings and specifications.

3.0 HANDLING AND STORAGE

3.1 Pre-delivery and Storage Preparation

3.1.1 Prepare delivery schedule and check site conditions as well as storage
capacity.

3.1.2 Prior to delivery of material or equipment to site, a site survey and

necessary coordination with main contractor is made with regards to
access for safe transportation of the material or equipment to designated
location.

3.1.3 Coordinate with site workers responsible for the system installation.

3.2 Incoming Storage at Site

3.2.1 Check model and type of material or equipment against delivery order.

3.2.2 Check any damage during transportation.

3.2.3 If there is any evidence of damage, an internal inspection shall be made

together with supplier’s representative and the Consultant. A report shall
be submitted to the Consultant on completion of such inspection

3.2.4 Route identification and marking work shall not be started until
coordinates with other Mechanical and Electrical Services

3.2.5 Minor deviation from the approved construction drawing and M&E
drawing would be determined on site with the consent of consultant site
staff

4.0 WORK METHODLOGY

4.1 Installation Procedure

4.1.1 Confirm fan locations in approved shop drawings.

4.1.2 Confirm fan models and dimensions as per specifications.

4.1.3 Confirm fan operating weights and suitable support as per specification.

4.1.4 Confirm the requirement of concrete plinths and roof/wall opening as

per approved drawings.

4.1.5 Lift the fan with human power or chain block.

4.1.6 Make bracket support with anchor bolt and standby the supporting rod.

4.1.7 Lift the fan and position in place to the support brackets.

4.1.8 Use bolt and nut to secure the fan in place.

4.1.9 Use spring isolator to isolate fan vibration.

4.1.10 When the fan is properly secured in place, connection all the necessary
ductwork.

4.1.11 Check and confirm the power requirement of the fan and connect the
power supply cable to its terminal and make sure the termination is
fastened tightly.

5.0 HEALTH, SAFETY, SECURITY AND ENVIROMENT

5.1 All workers will be provided with appropriate personnel protection equipment
(PPE) and this PPE must be worn during work. Workers who failed to comply
with this requirement will be removed from site.

5.1 Safety work procedure will be established in compliance with DOSH

requirements inclusive all pertinent machinery and operator certificates will be
submitted to the safety officer.

5.2 Unauthorized personnel are not permitted within construction area.

5.3 Safety Officer will closely supervise and checked the safety of the construction
area. Safety measures will be intensified when the risk are higher during period
of work.

7.0 TESTING AND INSPECTION

7.1 Testing and Commissioning Procedure

7.1.1 Check and confirm incoming power supply is correctly supplied to the
control panel.

7.1.2 Check and confirm that power supply cable is properly terminated to the
fan terminal.

7.1.3 Check and confirm that ducting is properly connected to the inlet and
outlet of fan.

7.1.4 Check and confirm that the blade is free to rotate before power up.

7.1.5 Check and confirm that fan is properly secured and vibration isolator is
properly installed.

7.1.6 Power up the fan and record the running ampere against the
manufacturer’s recommendation.

7.1.7 Measure and record the air flow rate against manufacturer’s
recommendation.

7.1.8 Measure and record noise level.
