ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Entrepreneurship is the art of business of starting a business; basically a startup companies offer
creative products, process and sevices. We can say that it is a activity of full of creativitiness .
An Entreprneur observe everything as a chance and to displays th bias in taking decision to
exploit the chances.

An Entrepreneur is a creator or a designed who designs who has new idesas and business prosses
acc.to the Market requrrements and not the own passion. To be a succesful entrprenuer, It all
very important to have managing skill and strong teams building ability, and team building
ability and how to manage a large team during the work load these are the major skills of an
entreprenueur.

Entrepreneur are the innovator or creators who introduce something very diffrent or new to the
firm or economy .So, it can be a new way of production, a new source or a new material, a new
marketing strategy that would led a new innovation or any other similar innovation. Thus , an
entrepreneur is an innovator, borrower, purchaser, or creator, etc. Some of the famous
entrepreneur are lakshmi Mittal,Ekta Kappor,Azim premji.

Motivation- An important Factor

The performance of a Entrepreneur is all depend on his ability and willingness to performs. Here,
the ability we mean a education, skills, experiesnce and the willingness we mean these all factor
depend on the the level of the motiuvation. Since the Motivation is one of the fundamental factor
required for an entrepreneur to promote his ideas.

Who are entrepreneurs?

An entreprenur is a driver:- An Entrepreneur are the preson of charge , The leader and the person
to overlook to for the leadership.he in the one that pushes the whole team and inspires a team to
follow . The Entrepreneur is the man tha sits in the driver position of the car and the car is the
company, and he has the ability to change direction, slow ,fast or even stop a venture.

2
An entrepreneur is a starter:-Entrepreneur is an initiator , a driver and a challanger . Sometimes
soneone that creates something new, either an initiative, a bussiness or a company. He or she has
the beginning of a venture, project or a company. He is the starting point ,may be he or she is not
the ideator but he is definetely the one who that decides to make that idea a reality.
An entrepreneur is accountable and responsible:-The enrepreneur is the ultimate responsible for
the fate of the company and of it s venture which can be in a company, a project,or other feild.
The enre prenur is the one that has the highest shares or stakes at the venture, thus the ont that is
needed to be empowered to fully direct the endeavor.

Being an entrepreneur is not directed is not directly related to having an equity stake in a
company, but instead showcases the leader quality .why do we temd to associate entrepreneurhip
with equty ownership , instead of understabilty it as the one that has the highest stakes in an
endevar, which sometimes gets translated into entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurship is more than financial gains

we intend to associate entrepreneurship is not directly related to having

an equity stake in the company, he or she is get exposured to the finance upside and downturn of
the company . corporate ventures and the corporate entrepreneuship allows to benfits of the
upside of their projects and without haivng aquity stakes.

Entrepreneurship and Intrepreneurship arey the diffrent?

The main diff. between entrepreneurship and Intrapreneur is that Intrapreneur is an employee
,and the entrepreneur is free and the leader of operations. Intrepreneur is the change initiatives
takes with agoing concern by the people working in that organization.

The difnition implies that new initiaves, dynamics and creativity and that augment orgainzational
competence are intraprenuship ,Ivancevvich and skinner obseve Intrapreneurship si an
entrepreneural person employed by the corporation , anti encouraged to be innovative and
creative .

The ec[ats suggest that intrapreneurship is such a thoughtful and creative initiative taken by the
person, working in the organization that eventually ensure organization that eventually ensures
organization success, progress, competitive edge, and market sustainbility . Therefore

3
Intrapreneurs are usually found in enterprises that encourage experimentaiton, tolerate failure,
recougnize success and share the feild experience.

Importance of an Entrepreneur.

An entrepreneur is an individual who sets up and grows a buisness. They combine diff. factors of
the production to tries and create a new profitable bussiness venue. Entrepreneurs are themselves
an important factors of the production and an essential aspects of the fuctioning free marketing
economy.
Efficency improvements:-  A succesful entrepreneur may take revenues from the establishment
bussiness This can causes creativeness destruction A phases used to describe change in the
econony which in the short- termcould lead to firms going out of bussines and job losses.
However, this potential fro creativeness their own effiencesy example In response to uber taxi
sevices it created an incentive for estalishment taxi firms to develop thier own website and apps.

New market:- Entrepreneurs can often redifine the rules of and establisment industry for ex. in
1990s if you want to rent a room, you would scour newspaper ads and then have to make
decision based on of text. now you can easily scan through different possiblities and have an
opportunitiy to get to know your potential flatmate before you move in. this has vreated a new
market an ddew service that increases the efficency of finding a compatible person to live with.

Dynamic efficency:- Entrepreneurs can maek radical changes and introduce new technologies
which significantly move on an industry . for example henry novel use of assembly lines enable
a drastic cut in the average cost of productiong a motor car. His efficency saving forced other car
maker to follow suit.

New economy:- The new technologies economy offer increased opportunities for entrepreneurs .
Low start up cost, give entrepreneur the pootential to find new market to develop Many of the
current large technological firms are relatively young and started on the small level.

Importance of Creativity and Innovation in Entrepreneurship

4
Innovation is at the heart of any growing economy, especially in those where standard practices
and existing business models have become obsolete. Redundancy in business practices can lead
to financial stagnancy. Entrepreneurship is key to innovating at the individual business level as
well as inspiring overall business-sector growth. Successful entrepreneurship requires a focus on
creativity, integrating innovation and strategic business practices.

Impact of Globalization on Established Businesses in Developed Economies

Modern business practices have had to evolve rapidly to stay effective. With the exponential
globalization of the world’s economy, many industries have looked internationally for both
manufacturing and market development. Although this is an inevitable aspect of globalization, it
means that jobs, growth and wealth have been moving overseas.

This is especially true for large-scale, established businesses. To stay competitive in the
globalized marketplace, they have to minimize expenses and streamline business models. As
large-scale industry has traditionally accounted for the majority of revenue in developed
economies, the out-sourcing of their manufacturing and market distribution can reduce stability
and growth in those economies.

New Opportunities for Creative Entrepreneurship

When big businesses pull out of a developed economy they leave a void. Obviously, this is not
initially a positive thing for an economy. However, it does open up that economy to smaller,
developing businesses, creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to experiment with new business
models and ideas. Because of this, innovative entrepreneurial business people are becoming
increasingly integral to the stability and growth of developed economies. Many even say the
perpetuation of these developed economies depends on the success of their creative
entrepreneurs.

Integrating Creativity and Strategic Business Practices in Entrepreneurship

Imagination is essential to starting a business, whether coming up with exciting new products
and services or using modern forms of target-market analysis and engagement. However, this
should not solely be the role of the singular entrepreneur, small business owner or any specific
employee. The most productive businesses are those that embrace creativity and inspire
innovation. Incentivizing creative product and strategy development can help propel a business,
with all employees actively seeking opportunities for further growth and innovation.

5
In general, entrepreneurs excel at recognizing and pursuing opportunities, whereas large,
established companies excel at making use of opportunities and appropriating their value. For
small businesses to succeed in today’s competitive markets they need to find opportunities and
take advantage of them. They should emphasize the importance of creativity and imagination
while valuing and employing the strategic business practices necessary to implement new ideas
effectively.

Binny Bansal and Sachin Bansal’s Untold Story

● Binny Bansal and Sachin Bansal started Flipkart by delivering books themselves in 2007.
● Binny shares his experience of handing over the baton of his company to Kalyan
Krishnamurthy.
● He left Flipkart on allegations of personal misconduct in November 2018.
“Someone once said that the journey is more beautiful than the destination. And just
sometimes, the journey changes the destination”.
Something similar happened with Flipkart, India’s ecommerce posterboy, and its founders
Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal. The course of their journey, which started from a humble two-
storeyed building in Koramangala, was altered irrevocably by US retailer Walmart’s
acquisition of Flipkart and the exit of the founders. However, the destination is still a long way
ahead.
Anand Daniel of Accel Partners, in Accel’s #INSIGHTSPodcast series for 2019, talked to Binny
Bansal, the entrepreneur who strummed the strings of technology and product development in
the backend with the motto of making ecommerce simple and seamless for Indians. He also
made decisions which altered the course of Flipkart and played a big role in shaping what it has
become.
During the candid chat with Daniel, the 37-year-old Flipkart cofounder reminisced about the
most important moments from his stack of memories — right from his childhood to launching
his first startup to building the Flipkart Mafia. “My childhood was mostly dedicated to sports and
athletics. However, things changed when computers as a subject was introduced in Standard IV.
My interests changed,” said Binny, as the conversation started.
From being an average student, Binny went on to join IIT Delhi’s Computer Science graduate
course, a place where he found both his cofounder, Sachin Bansal, and his soulmate, Trisha.
Interestingly, Snapdeal cofounder Rohit Bansal was also his batchmate and they were best
buddies in the first year.
While the story of the Flipkart cofounders and their journey of building India’s most-valued
ecommerce unicorn has been told and retold often, every time either of the Bansals speaks about
it, they reveal some new experiences, some untold stories.
Here is one such unshared version of Binny Bansal’s 11-year journey in the Indian ecommerce
ecosystem.

6
Incidental Introduction To Ecommerce
After a one-year stint at Sarnoff as a software engineer, Binny Bansal was referred to Amazon in
a similar role by Sachin in 2007. Here, their alignment of thoughts and “soul-searching” led them
towards ecommerce. But what we don’t know is that before arriving at the idea of Flipkart, the
duo explored opportunities around improving Google Maps and launching a comparison
shopping engine similar to Amazon’s Junglee.
“Google Maps at that time was quite bad. But the ecommerce sites in India were crappy. We
found this while researching for the launch of a comparison shopping engine, so the discovery
was incidental. Nobody was doing ecommerce right,” chuckled Binny.
And doing it “right”, according to Binny, was keeping it simple. This meant when customers
look for a product, they should get the right listing and be directed to the item quickly. When
they order, they should get what they want. Last but not the least, if they have any problems or
issues, the company should be responsible and resolve them.
Flipkart was launched as an online bookstore in 2007. The startup’s mantra was to provide
simple and seamless ecommerce services. One of their USPs — which worked majorly in their
favour — was to deliver on or before time. For instance, they would promise a delivery in four
days but the products usually made it to the customer before that.

Some of Flipkart’s core principles, which have remained strong over the years, are:

● Keeping the customer first by doing “right” by the customer

● Keeping things focused and simple
● Focusing on technology

As Binny Bansal explained, the duo knew intuitively that trust in the brand was going
to be the key to success and not the next month’s numbers. Also, keeping things
simple was important even with an expanding category base. “It was important to be
focused on technology, as we believed that the only way to scale was tech; we had to
be audacious,” he added.

Entrepreneurship is a two sided coin which has both bright and dark side

An entrepreneurship is not a easy task like to just to think the idea and start working on it it
includes many factor as we have discussed and also discuss in the upcoming points, it has both
success and failure depending on the work and effort that you are pushing on it.

It may take long year of time to build a proper company and a successful startup, Sometimes a
stupid idea with proper effort and right direction can make thing a way good that it look like in
the present and sometimes a good idea without proper work , direction, lack of motivation and
other things led to demolish that company. So it has both the faces like a coin, the main thing is
how and how much you work on it to make things great.

Let disscuss both the factors of Entrepreneurship.

7
Bright side:-

You will have variety in life: Doing the same thing all the time can really get boring after a point
of time. Serial entrepreneurs don’t face this problem. They have a lot of variety in their life
because they head a number of enterprises. That is why they are more active and motivated. Also
serial entrepreneurs are generally thorough about the business world because they always have
so much going on. At every step they learn a new aspect of business, which a regular
entrepreneur may not be aware of.

You will have increased chances of success: The more shots you take, the more the chances of
you hitting the target. That is basically the story of serial entrepreneurs. However, you should
keep in mind that even they have to work hard (much harder than regular entrepreneurs) to
achieve success.

Dark side:-

Lack of focus: With so many things going on, it is easy to lose focus. Scattered focus is equal
to distraction and that will not help you. If you don’t manage to focus on each of your
businesses, all your businesses will be doomed and that will hurt your reputation as well as
your finances drastically. To be successful you have to be equipped with multiple resources,
people, and latest technologies.

Harder to make decisions: You can’t make collective decisions at any point of time especially if
the growth of your firms is different. If one of your companies is not doing so well while the
other is positively thriving, making the same decisions for each is not ideal. That is why experts
advise that you keep each of your firms separate. All accounts, resources, and investments
should be kept detached so that decision-making is easier.

You surely don’t want to head a few mediocre businesses. That won’t give you satisfaction. To
be a successful serial entrepreneur, ensure that you have the right resources and the ideas.

The Main frame

Thanks primarily to Starbucks, within the past 20 years the coffeehouse has become a familiar
8
feature of Indian life. Every day, millions of Indians stop for an espresso-based coffee drink.
People who would not have dreamed of spending more than 50 bucks for a cup of coffee a few
years ago now gladly pay Rs3 to Rs5 for their cappuccino, mocha latte or vanilla ice blended
drink.

The specialty-coffee business is growing at a healthy pace. During the past 20 years, there has
not been a single year, despite war and recession, in which specialty coffee sales have not grown.
In many years the increase has been in double digits. In addition, no coffeehouse chains have
failed during this time, although the list of casualties in other industries is quite long.

Starbucks, The Coffee Bean and other major chains serve average quality drinks in
establishments that have the same generic design appearance. Indeed, Starbucks and The Coffee
Bean are often referred to as "fast food" coffeehouses due to their "cookie cutter" design. Now
that Indian's coffee preferences have broadened and matured, many are asking for more from
their coffeehouse.

A niche exists that has yet to be filled for a high-volume,  upscale, quality-driven
coffeehouse with a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Dark Roast Java meets this need and fills this niche. We offer high-quality products in an upscale
environment. Furthermore, our high-profile location in Indore provides a mixed customer base
that will maintain high levels of business in every season, at all times of the day, every day of the
week.

Financials
The company anticipates rapid acceptance of the Dark Roast Java concept in Indore, with
revenues of Rs600,000+ in the first fiscal year, rising to more than Rs1,000,000+ in year three.
Net profit is projected to be approximately Rs99,000 in year one, growing to an estimated
Rs265,000 by year three.

An advanced and expandable point-of-sale system

After carefully tracking the performance of the Indore store through an expandable and highly
detailed point-of-sale system, we will use this as a "blueprint" for expansion. For example, daily
sales are tracked and analyzed by item, time period and cost of goods. Labor requirements are
matched to projected in-store sales based upon past performance for maximum efficiency. Even
after paying higher than average wages, we expect to allocate no more than 25% to labor costs.

This Business Plan only provides data on the Indore coffeehouse.

India.

1.1 Mission

Our goal is to be the coffeehouse of choice for the local Indore community, downtown business
workers, tourists who visit the city, and students, by providing a higher quality experience than
any competitor. As a result, we intend to create coffeehouses that quickly achieve profitability
and sustain an attractive rate of return (20% or more annually) for our investors.

We also want to make our contribution to the welfare of the local community by supporting
charitable and civic activities. We will support the farmers who grow our coffee by using Fair
Trade, Sustainable Production and Organic products whenever possible.

Dark Roast Java also awards its business to as many local suppliers as possible, keeping the
business in the community or, at the least, in the state.

1.2 Objectives

● Make Dark Roast Java the number one destination for coffee in Indore
● Sales of Rs600,000+ the first fiscal year, Rs750,000+ the second fiscal year and Rs1 million
the third fiscal year
● Achieve a 15% net profit margin within the first year and 30% by FY3
● Achieve a total net profit of Rs150,000+ in FY1 and Rs200,000+ by FY3
● Be an active and vocal member of the community, and provide continual re-investment
through participation in community activities such as the Chamber of Commerce and
financial contributions to local charities and youth organizations
● Create a solid concept in the industry and track performance in order to begin expanding to
other markets within six months

1.3 Keys to Success

The keys to our success will be:

● A superior-tasting product backed by a unique quality store

A relaxing, upscale interior design

● Prime site selection with an upscale affluent population, year-round tourist activity, heavy
pedestrian traffic by the site, a dynamic student population and a concentration of local
businesses
● A market that exposes Dark Roast Java to high-profile "trend-setters" and "key influencers
● Ongoing, aggressive marketing
● Highly trained and friendly staff

10
● Multiple revenue streams including gift items, gift baskets and coffee gift/frequency cards in
addition to coffee, pastry, chocolates, tea, juice, water and soft drinks
● A dynamic website with online sales capability

● Variety: No other coffeehouse in the area will provide the range of coffee drinks, tea, cocoa,
juice, smoothies and other products that Dark Roast Java does.
● Location: Dark Roast Java will be located in the prime section of downtown Indore in the
heart of the shopping and entertainment district. Dark Roast Java locations are designed for
high volume year round, with revenues and profits to match.
● Expansion: Assuming this store is successful, it will be the first of a chain of Dark Roast
Java coffeehouses located in markets that have similar demographic profiles, significant
traffic by the store, year-round tourist activity and a sizeable student population.

The Dark Roast Java Concept

At one time Cadillac was the acknowledged quality automobile in India. Then came Mercedes-
Benz. And then Lexus, with its superb product and service approach. Dark Roast Java will be the
first "Lexus" of the coffeehouse chain industry, offering a higher quality product and better
quality service in an exceptional environment. The only coffeehouse that comes close to being as
upscale as our concept in the Pacific Northwest is Torrefazione, with its high style Italian decor
(they were recently part of a Rs72 million dollar buy-out by Starbucks).

The first Dark Roast Java is located in Indore. Other Dark Roast Java coffeehouses will
eventually be located in select affluent markets that support the business model (e.g. Mount Hill,
Newburg, Springfield, Bayview, Orchard Valley, Beachey Head, Capital City).

Dark Roast Java offers a superior coffee product, delicious pastries, fresh juices, the finest tea
drinks, Ghirardelli cocoa, gourmet chocolates and gift items.

The Dark Roast Java staff members who prepare the coffee (baristas) are highly trained and
experienced. They know how to prepare an excellent espresso-based drink and brew tasty coffee.
We use the highest quality equipment and ingredients to deliver a noticeably superior product.

Our design style is different from all other coffeehouses, an upscale "Cote d'Azur" look. It
features stained glass decorations, art glasswork, Mediterranean Riviera style furnishings and
outdoor dining.

2.1 Company Ownership

11
Dark Roast Java is a privately held corporation. It is registered as a state LLC Corporation, with
ownership shared by Ramesh, Suresh, Mahesh and other outside investors.

2.2 Start-up Summary

Start-up expenses are in line with those of other coffeehouse chains. For example, Starbucks
spends approximately Rs380,000 on average to build-out a new store location. Our costs are an
estimated Rs225,000 and Rs25,000 for opening inventory and operating capital. Future stores
should cost no more than Rs175,000 to build out since many of the costs incurred here will not
have to be repeated later.

Products

Dark Roast Java sells high-quality specialty coffee beverages, tea, juice, water, soft drinks,

with the leading national chains.

14
● Tea is primarily supplied by Harney & Sons Tea, Connecticut.
● Our water vendor is Crystal Geyser, St. Helena, CA
● Juices are provided by Longhorn Orchards, Corpus Cristi, TX (fresh orange juice and
lemonade) and Genesis Juice, Eugene, OR
● Pastries are provided by local Indore companies such as D'Angelo's Bakery, Indore Biscotti

Angeles and Black Forest Chocolates, Arnold, CA
● Gift items are from various vendors
● Soft drinks are provided by Sprecher's Brewery, Milwaukee, WI, and Thomas Kemper Soda,
Seattle, WA

3.2 The Dark Roast Java Menu

The Dark Roast Java menu sets us apart from other coffeehouses, giving us a competitive edge.

● We offer six groups of drinks—coffee, tea, Italian sodas, smoothies, juice and cocoa—with
several choices within each group. This enables us to provide more variety than our
competitors while keeping the preparation of the drinks easy to execute.

● We are taking advantage of the immense popularity of flavored drinks and Chai tea by
offering a product mix that includes items the other coffeehouses don't carry as well as more
familiar drinks.
● We are the only coffeehouse to have a wide range of gourmet hot cocoa.
● Dark Roast Java offers several smoothie drinks and Italian sodas.
● We carry the highest quality fresh juices.

Prices have been determined after a thorough analysis of all food costs for every item in each
drink. In some cases, an average price has been calculated and applied to all similar drinks in
order to keep the menu from confusing the customer.

15
Web Plan Summary

We plan to expand the functionality of our website so that it becomes a substantial revenue
stream for Dark Roast Java.

Although we've projected modest sales because of the difficulty in predicting online sales
activity, we believe the potential exists for Internet sales to become a substantial percentage of
our revenue.

We will sell a number of items at our website, including:

● Whole beans
● Tea
● Cocoa mixes
● Chocolates
● Gift baskets
● Gift items
● Art glass

We will sell a variety of high design stained glass, glass artwork and accessories featured in our
coffeehouses by establishing ourselves as an agent for the artist/manufacturers. We will process
the order and the artist will fulfill it. In this way we provide exposure and additional sales
activity for the artists, and Dark Roast Java creates an additional revenue stream that could
become substantial over time.

Special downloadable offers good at the retail stores will be posted from time to time on the
website.

Eventually, customers will be able to reload their Dark Roast Java Card online so they can use it
in lieu of cash or credit when they make purchases.

The website will also function as an online "brochure" for both the Dark Roast Java quality story
as well as enable visitors to "see" our retail store, get directions and maps, see our menu and find
out about special events.

6.1 Online Marketing Strategy

All communications materials will include the Dark Roast Java website address. For the media,
an online press kit will be available which will include downloadable photos, PR releases, stories
of interest, testimonials, bios of key management and reproduceable logos.

16
Special PR will promote our gift basket business and the sale of our upscale design glass
artworks.

We will host online "events" for our customers. For example, a visiting author may go online to
chat with visitors to our website. Or we may support a charities' fund-raising activities. This will
provide us with opportunities for media coverage.

Eventually, when more stores are opened, the website will function as a means of internal
communication through a password-protected area. Here, company rules, health department
regulations, news, chat, "live" internal announcements and virtual meetings will take place.

In-store Online computing

An appealing customer feature at Dark Roast Java will be two Internet access stations with 17"
monitors. These will enable people to access the Internet while at the store. The price for this
access hasn't been set yet but will be approximately Rs15 an hour with some fractional division
rate structure at 15-minute intervals (perhaps Rs5 for every quarter hour). The Dark Roast Java
website home page will be the always-on start page for the monitors.

The Internet stations enable customers to check their email or access websites for business, study
or travel information.

Internet access is provided more as a customer service than a revenue source. Although it will
return a profit, the amount is difficult to determine now and so it hasn't been factored into the
P&L.

Our best estimate is that the two stations will be on for a total of four hours daily, producing
Rs1,800 a month in gross revenue (Rs21,600 annually minus approximately Rs1,000 for the
basic fee plus the percentage of sales).

6.2 Diffrent Requirements for the development

Dark Roast Java plans to employ a graphic designer and back-end user interface technical
developer to create our simple, classy, yet Internet focused site.

The maintenance of the site will be done by contracted outside consultants. As the website is

expanded and improved, future development may include items such as tracking, newsletters,
down-loadable menus, a coffee "chat" room and user Web pages. A technical resource may need
to be contracted to build the trackable download and the newsletter capabilities.

17
Financial Plan

Sales growth will be a minimum of 15% annually, margins excellent, profits at
approximately 20% - 25%, cash flow adequate.
Marketing will remain below 5% of sales.
The company will invest residual profits into financial markets or real estate.
Future cash investments will use NPV projections to achieve maximum return with limited
risk.

8.1 Important Assumptions

● The 20-year record of positive growth for specialty coffee drinking will continue at a healthy
rate. The Specialty Coffee Association says that the market is far from saturation and will not
reach maturity until at least 2019.

● The resilience of the coffeehouse industry to negative national and world events will
continue. Despite recession and war the coffeehouse industry has shown strong growth every
year for the past two decades.

● The quality of national chains will remain the same or decline slightly rather than improve as
they standardize their stores, increase automation of espresso drinks and mass-produce the
roasting process.

● Coffee drinks will continue to be considered an "affordable luxury."

● 15% minimum sales growth rate over the next three years as Dark Roast Java becomes well
known.

SWOT Analysis
Strengths
Strengths are factors that give you an edge and keep the customers coming. The ultimate goal of
the strengths section is to highlight positive qualities relating to the cafe staff, how you do
business, the restaurant’s location or the menu.ry,deo player failed to load.(Error Code: 101102)
For example, a strength could be that your baristas are well-trained, know your customers and
keep regulars coming through the doors every morning. Maybe you have an excellent coffee
bean supplier or your location attracts nearby office workers on their lunch breaks. Anything that
makes your business valuable can go in this section.
Of course, it can be hard to get outside your own viewpoint to see what people like about your
cafe. Maybe you think the new, trendy drink is tasty, but your customers find it gimmicky. Make
sure you ask customers and employees what they think makes your place special.
You don't have to say that you're doing a SWOT analysis for a coffee shop and would like
feedback. Instead, casually ask your regulars what brings them in every day. If you want to be
more formal, design a survey and offer a discount to those who answer it.
Weaknesses
Weaknesses are places where the cafe falls short. Weaknesses stem from flaws in your
company’s culture, poor training practices, financial limitations and other sources. When drafting
the weaknesses section of a SWOT analysis, turn a critical eye to the cafe and highlight your
coffee shop’s shortcomings.

For example, you may not open early enough for some morning commuters or have late enough
hours for hardworking students. Maybe you often find yourself short staffed or low on certain
ingredients. Don't be afraid to add these things to your list. Knowing your weaknesses allows
you to address them and become more successful.
Opportunities
Opportunities are external factors that can allow you to grow your cafe. Social and financial
trends related to current and potential cafe customers create opportunities. For example, a new
apartment complex could open up nearby and bring hundreds of potential new customers your
way.

Threats
Threats are potentially dangerous marketplace conditions that the cafe has no control over. The
threat section of a cafe SWOT must discuss important financial and social trends that endanger
the cafe as well as the well-being of other competitors.

23
For example, if the price of coffee skyrocketed or a major cafe franchise moved in down the
street, you would record this as a threat. Simply identifying these threats can help you prepare
and protect your business.

● Benefits and Drawbacks of Online Fitness Training

Online training is one of the fastest growing segments of the fitness industry. In fact, according
to Flurry Insights, health and fitness app usage rose 62% in the first half of 2014, and it's
growing at a rate 87% faster than that of other industries. In more tangible terms, a 2015
study performed by researchers at the New York University School of Medicine, found that more
than half of all smartphone users had downloaded a fitness or health app.

That's a lot of downloads.

It's not just fitness apps that are growing in popularity. Streaming programs, such as Grokker
and Crunch Live, are popping up all over the internet, and full-length fitness videos abound on
YouTube.

All this growth is incredibly positive—it provides health and fitness resources to the general
consumer wherever they happen to be, without requiring access to a gymor fitness studio. But it's
not without problems.

For one thing, the sheer volume of online fitness possibilities can feel paralyzing. If you think it's
hard to choose which gym to go to in your neighborhood, it's going to be a lot harder to choose
25
which YouTube channel to follow when sifting through the 65 million results you return after
searching "fitness videos."

If you're ready to test the waters of online fitness, here's what you need to know.

Benefits of Online Fitness

Login Anywhere. As long as you have access to pre-downloaded videos and/or a WiFi
connection for streaming videos, you can workout wherever you are.
Workout for Less. Most online fitness programs are much less expensive than similar offline
programs—most range in cost between $10 and $20 per month. This is due in part to lower
overhead expenses, and in part to the wider audience and the greater opportunity to sell programs
to more people. In fact, many programs are offered free of charge, particularly if you're not
hoping for personalized, one-on-one attention

Exercise According to Your Schedule. Instead of being locked into a specific class schedule at
your local gym, online programs are almost all offered at your convenience.

Access Limitless Opportunities and Trainers. You're no longer required to take a class from
the one Pilates instructor at your local studio. When you head online, you have Pilates instructors
from around the globe, all ready and willing to help you master your favorite moves. Same goes
for different types of exercise. Just because you don't have a Krav Maga class in your area
doesn't mean you can't go online to find a Krav Maga training program led by certified
instructors.

Skip the Gym or Studio. If you're new to exercise, you aren't sure what types of exercise you
like, or you feel intimidated when walking into a new workout environment, online training is an
excellent reprieve from the traditional gym or studio. You can test different programs from the
comfort of your living room, learning the basics before taking your practice into the "real world"
of clubs and gyms.

26
Drawbacks

The first thing to think about when considering an online fitness program is "know thyself." If
you struggle with self-motivation, you don't like exercising at home, and you prefer a social
workout environment, online fitness may not be for you. Other than those three "biggies," there's
one other major drawback for online fitness:

● Nobody's There to Check Your Form. Very few online fitness programs enable the
instructor to see you, check your form, and offer modifications or corrections based on
your performance. This means you could inadvertently perform exercises incorrectly, or
even unsafely, without knowing it. This is particularly concerning for beginners and those
recovering from injuries, as they're more likely to perform exercises incorrectly.

How to Get Started

If you've decided online training is worth giving a whirl, here's what you should think about as
you get started.

Decide What Type of Program and Feedback You Require. This is the most important step.
If you're hoping for more one-on-one, personalized help, look into workout programs led by a
specific trainer that is held for a certain number of weeks or months. If, however, you require
less personal feedback, organizations like Fitness Blender and Nerd Fitness offer a number of
pre-packaged programs you can work your way through on your own terms. If you're more free-
flowing and simply want high-quality, full-length workout programs you can access and stream,
Grokker, Sufferfest, or YogaDownload may be a better fit. And finally, if you're more interested
in short video clips and exercise tutorials, you can't beat YouTube's search for its sheer volume
of responses. Just be sure to vet the credentials of the YouTubers you watch (or anyone you
follow, for that matter)—it's possible for anyone to upload a video and pretend to be an expert
without sufficient training or experience.

27
Select Your Budget. You can pay almost anything for anything. While many streaming services
are less than $20 per month, more personalized programs and one-on-one personal training
services are going to cost more. Decide what you're comfortable spending before you start
looking at options. As with much in life, you often get what you pay for. If you're hoping for
higher-quality resources and care, you might want to ante up a reasonable budget.

1. Take Advantage of Free Trials and Programs. Most online fitness venues and trainers
know that the best way to land new clients is to let them test-drive their services. As such,
there are lots of free and discounted resourcesavailable. Go ahead and take advantage of
them.

2. Ask Questions. Once you've narrowed your search to a few key programs, don't hesitate
to ask each company or trainer about the program's benefits, personalization, ongoing
motivation and feedback, and anything else you're curious about.

3. Seek out Reviews and Referrals. It never hurts to see what other people are saying
about the program you're considering. Other people's experiences can give you a good
glimpse into what you can expect as well.

4. Sign Up! Go ahead and let the rubber hit the road. Make a decision and give an online
program a try. Very few programs require a long-term commitment, so you're almost
always welcome to cancel if you decide it's not a good fit for you.

GET ON THE CHALLENGE It’s time to spring challenge yourself and achieve real fitness
results. Get stronger, leaner, and perform better in all you do with my ‘Mega Moves Workout
Series’. It’s simple, yet challenging and a workout you can alter with a variety of exercises along
with a varied incline, pace, or additional resistance on your Total Gym.

MEGA MOVES METHOD REVIEW Understanding how to master the method and
implement it on your Total Gym will make all the difference in your workout, as well as the
results you ultimately produce.

The amount of strength utilized is based on your own bodyweight along with the incline of your
Total Gym. Determining the right incline for each exercise is based on your current strength
level and a setting you can sustain for a certain time period. Some exercises may need more
resistance/ incline, others may need less. As rule:

 Practice perfecting the exercise form

 Work on core stability to execute the movement precisely
 Make adjustments in body positioning or Total Gym incline setting when needed

The Total Gym glide board makes low-impact exercises more challenging by adding instability
and core stamina. Your smaller muscles will ignite to stabilize you during the exercises… and
this is a mega challenge!

As a review from Blog 1 (insert link here once live), listed are the important concepts to integrate
when performing the Mega Moves workouts on your Total Gym.

1. Slow Tempo
2. Static Hold
3. Tuck Pelvis & Engage Core
4. Proper Shoulder Alignment in Planks
5. Proper Knee Alignment in Lunges/ Squats
6. Intensity Levels: Total Gym Incline vs Decline

Make sure you have reviewed and understand the concept for this type of workout method before
testing it out on your Total Gym. This was all explained in Blog 1/ Part 1. If you missed it, no

29
worries!

MEGA MOVES WORKOUT: LEGS Get your body in shape for the warmer weather and feel
red carpet ready with these mega moves on your Total Gym.

GEAR:
 No shoes required! This style of workout is typically performed barefoot.
 Use of sticky socks will help to preventing slipping, but are not required.
DIRECTIONS:

The workout is performed in a timed circuit, NOT reps

Dynamically warm-up your muscles then proceed directly into the Mega Leg Circuit

● Perform each exercise SLOWLY for 60-90 seconds on one side, then repeat the second set on
the other side in the same manor. This is considered 2 complete sets.
● Do what you can in the amount of time. It’s not a race.

Choosing your timed interval sets:

● 60 seconds/ exercise = 5 minutes on 1 side

● 90 seconds/ exercise = approximately 8 minutes on 1 side
● Start with 60 seconds, if you need a challenge or have more time, do 90 second intervals.

● Total workout time with warm-up, 4 complete sets, at 60 seconds/ exercise will take
approximately 30 minutes. Add 2 additional complete sets if you have more time for a 40 minute
workout or use the 90 second timed interval formula… you decide!

Always adjust the Total Gym incline to accommodate your strength level.
Now let’s get moving!

30
TIP:
I suggest printing or writing this workout on a board so that you know what exercise comes next
and it flows smoothly for the timed intervals.

9 Surprising Benefits of Exercise

For most people, weight loss is the main motivator for getting into shape. But there are a lot of
other benefits to exercising than just fitting into those skinny jeans. Believe it or not, regular
physical activity can improve your sex life, decrease your cancer risk, make your skin glow and
more. Whether you're already fit or looking for a little extra motivation, check out 10 additional
reasons to get moving!

1. Reduces your dementia risk.

Over the years, studies have found that staying active can boost mind function and energy,
decreasing the risk of dementia. Physical activity "improve[s] cognitive function in healthy
elderly persons, and potentially reduce[s] the risk of developing cognitive impairment,"
according to the Alzheimer's Association. Dance classes particularly, which require learning
skills like memory and concentration, are especially helpful for individuals with an increased risk
of Alzheimer's disease.

2. Decreases your osteoporosis risk.

Fitness, especially load-bearing exercise, is important for bone health, according to certified
personal trainer Leigh Crews. "Exercise can be one of the most important things you can do to
prevent osteoporosis, protect yourself from falls and help maintain bone mass," she says.

31
According to The University of Arizona, strengthening exercises like weight-lifting, jogging,
hiking, stair climbing, step aerobics, dancing and racquet sports are best.

3. Prevents muscle loss.

As we get older, not only do our bodies build muscle less efficiently, but the muscle we already
have breaks down more quickly, according to a study in The American Journal of Clinical
Nutrition. This makes regular exercise an integral part of healthy aging. "Exercise not only helps
us maintain our muscle mass, it can increase it," says Crews. "This ultimately keeps our
metabolism high, gives us strength and endurance to complete tasks of everyday life, and helps
prevent falls, which can be a life-changing experience for older adults."

4. Improves digestion.
The Gastroenterological Society of Australia found that exercise helps the intestinal muscles
break down food and move it through your system correctly by strengthening the abdominal
muscles and minimizing sluggishness. Dr. Katz seconds these findings, noting that regular
exercise "can help prevent constipation." He says even short, intermittent walking throughout the
day can help keep things regular.

5. Reduces stress, depression and anxiety.

We've been hearing for years that regular activity boosts your mood, but it does much more than
that. According to the Mayo Clinic, "once you get motivated, exercise can make a big difference.
Working out can definitely help you relax and make you feel better, keeping anxiety and
depression from coming back." How? When you exercise, neurotransmitters and endorphins that
ease depression are released. Plus, you raise your body temperature, which has been shown to
calm nerves.

6. Enhances mental performance and work productivity.

Dr. Katz is a firm believer that exercise is important for improving overall quality of life,
especially when it comes to work. Not only does exercise improve self-confidence in the
workplace, which helps you take on leadership roles and perform better, but it also increases
overall productivity and focus. A study released by the American College of Sports Medicine
found that 65 percent of employees surveyed reported an increased ability to manage their time

32
and produce more, as well as an overall improved mental and interpersonal performance when
they worked out in the middle of the day.

7. Reduces cancer risk.

Several studies have confirmed that the risk of lung, colon and breast cancers can be greatly
reduced in regularly active people. In fact, a 2007 study found that exercise is an important step
to preventing breast cancer because higher levels of estrogen (which is stored in fat) increase
your risk. "Women who exercise heavily are, in general, older at the time of the[ir] first period,
and tend to have irregular periods and a shortened estrogen-producing phase," the American
Association for Cancer Research reports. "Postmenopausal women who are physically active
have also been shown to have lower levels of estrogen."

8. Helps reduce stroke severity.

A study by the Bispebjerg University Hospital in Copenhagen following first-time stroke patients
found that "people who exercised the most prior to their stroke were two and a half times more
likely to have a milder stroke compared to those who exercised the least," reports WebMD.
Another positive tip? Even activities like "light housework, a walk outside and lawn care" count.

9. Improves your skin.

If vanity is still your number-one motivation to get in shape, then add glowing skin to the list of
benefits. For one thing, "exercise enhances the blood flow to your skin," Dr. Katz says. Studies
have also shown that exercise improves acne by controlling the production of acne-inducing
testosterone hormones like DHEA and DHT. Plus, sweating can unclog pores and help clear up
your breakouts—ultimately detoxifying the skin of oils and dirt.

FUTURE SCOPE:

Due to its unconventional nature, initially people were not really interesting and it was not
lucrative back then, but now after global connection has been improved through various means
like internet, it emerged out as one of the finest and profession which required a specific skill set.

Now there are different categories in this also , like weight exercise trainer , conditional training
expert , yoga exercises , nutritionist and includes mobility ,posture , stability , human anatomy

33
and effect of exercises on muscle ,physiology, risk stratification etc … one need to pick out these
qualification to persue his/her dream ahead . .. i personally would suggest dont just start without
these qualification as it would hamper in long run( the most you can do is to acquire them side
by side ) .

Many insititute offers these courses and one such i know is golds gym GGFI

After aquiring this qualification of P.T. you would be able to give services to your clients
through different social platforms as well as in person you can give training .

Now a days , it is highly lucrative job and personal trainers charge on an average 3 to 5 thousand
per client to train personally plus you can earn through guiding people on social platforms (e.g.
gurumaan — who dont even live in india ) and also join gym .. which will be helpful in getting to
know your clients .you can also make diet chart for the people and charge them accordingly .
You can counsel them and charge them accordingly .

Therefore i think it is just time to tap this area , but my friend like all professions , it also needs
time and energy to be invested , it also needs a qualification so that people should know that they
are getting help from a reliable source plus if you have good grasp over your area , you will
excel.

Just be honest to clients , to your profession and be ready to share your knowledge .

“Today’s trainers need to keep up with current trends such as CrossFit and unique combination
concepts: yoga-meets-Pilates, cardio-meets-boxing, Tai-Chi-meets-aquatics” says Cathleen
Kronemnemer who has been in the industry for almost three decades. She believes that diversity
in training abilities is key, especially with the growing population of teenagers entering in as
clientele. She also says, “male trainers to know proper conduct when working with teenage
female clients.”

Personal trainers are expected to be a jack of all trades AND a master of one. They are told to
have a wide range of skills AND find a niche. Clients expect them to help with making major
lifestyle changes during only 1-2 short hours of contact a week for sometimes lower pay than

34
that of a fast food burger flipper. Find a niche but stay open-minded and multi-skilled is the
message being delivered to aspiring personal trainers from marketing and business experts.

Personal trainers are accountable for more than helping people build muscle and lose weight. A
personal trainer’s scope of expectations has continuously broadened during its official lifespan,
of about 35 years. Trainers are expected to understand the many mechanisms of the human body
that influence and are impacted by exercise. Research continues to demonstrate that there is a lot
more to being healthy than cardio and weightlifting. It’s not as simple as calories in and calories
out for many folks.

Nitschke says, “It’s no longer about being fit – it’s about overall lifestyle management and to do
that, people need tools and resources that help them achieve that balance and that happens
outside of the gym. There also needs to be greater emphasis on holistic training – not just the
physical side of fitness.”

One of the tools to pay attention to is genetic testing. It’s not something within the scope of
practice of a personal trainer. But, encouraging clients to dig a little deeper with their doctor,
nauturopath or nutritionist can help lead the way with fitness programming.
