SUMMARY:
On 08/15/2020 I assisted in arrresting who violated a police zone established in Arcadia Park. After turning him over to other
officers for transport, I had no further involvement in this case.
SCENE:
On 08/15/2020 protests and counter protests occurred in the downtown area of Kalamazoo. After reports of multiple fights with dangerous
weapons, I responded to the area with other PSOs as a member of a team assigned to made arrests.
Upon arrival to Arcadia Park, I overheard loud verbal announcements conveying the message that a police zone had been established and that
subjects who violated that zone would be subject to arrest. While moving forward behind the primary line of officers, a male subject was
identified who was not departing the park as ordered. The arrest team was then ordered to take him into custody.
ARREST:
I assisted in arresting the male, later identified as by placing his hands behind his back and applying flex-cuffs to his wrists. I
ensured that I could fit my gloved pinky into the hole along with his wrists. After this, I handed him of to PSO Bugarin and had no further
invovlement in this case.
WATCHGUARD:
My BWC WFC1-011846 were activated for this incident and coded out as, case written.

INFORMATION:
On Saturday 8-15-20 KDPS was downtown Kalamazoo reference protests. A police zone had been established. Numerous subjects were arrested
who were in violation of the police zone.
OFFICER ACTIONS:
At the time of the incident, I was assigned to an arrest team. KDPS was deployed at Arcadia Park. While in the area, numerous loud verbal
announcements were continually given. Those announcements were informing subjects that a police zone had been established and anyone
violating that would be subject to arrest.
While moving forward behind the crowd management team, a male subject was identified as not following police orders. He was in violation of
the police zone. Members of the CMT took custody of the subject and passed him back to the arrest team. I held onto the suspects camera,
camera bag, and paperwork. I turned over the property to PSO Bugarin. The suspect was later identified as .

SUMMARY:
On Saturday August 15, 2020, officers were responding to the downtown area of Kalamazoo City due to multiple protesting groups. After the
protests had become violent and turned in to a riot, KDPS initiated a police zone and was arrested for remaining within the
zone. I stood by until the Kalamazoo County transport van could transport him to jail.
OFFICER ACTIONS:
I was instructed to walk to the pickup point for him to be transported by the Kalamazoo County transport van.
SUSPECT IDENTIFICAITON:
was verbally identified as he did not have an ID on him. His identity was verified with his SOS information. .
He was transported by the Kalamazoo County transport van to Kalamazoo County Jail.
DVR:
My department issued body worn camera was in use during this investigation.
DISPOSITION:
This concludes my involvement in this incident.
