Course Requirements and Evaluation

MATH 141L is a Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) class. Your grade will be based on assignments done in class,
which occasionally will be finished as homework. To earn a grade of CR you must earn 70% of the possible
points on the problems assigned.
Each of the in-class assignments is worth 10 points and will be due on Canvas at the end of class or,
occasionally, before midnight on the day of the class. These assignments cannot be made up.
All students will be graded in exactly the same way, so please don’t ask for special consideration or for extra
credit.

Class Regulations
If you behave in a way that may disturb other students, you will be asked to leave class.

University Regulations
Dropping a class is your responsibility. Please read the regulations at

How to Do Well in MATH 141L

1. Never miss any part of any class. Not one minute.
2. Have any required materials and your calculator when you sign on to each class.
3. Ability to concentrate is important. So get enough sleep, which probably means between seven and nine
hours each night. Less than six hours is not enough. www.sleepfoundation.org/press-release/national-sleep-foundation-
recommends-new-sleep-times
4. To further help your concentration and to free up time to study, break yourself of phone addiction. When
you study, turn your phone off. During class, turn off your phone and put it in a different room, if
possible. www.forbes.com/sites/alicegwalton/2017/12/11/phone-addiction-is-real-and-so-are-its-mental-health-risks/#1b4a195b13df
www.helpguide.org/articles/addictions/smartphone-addiction.htm
5. Study groups are powerful ways to learn. Get together on Zoom with your group to discuss concepts and
compare solutions to the worksheets.
6. Get help as soon as you need it. If you get stuck or would like further explanation of a topic, consult your
study group, your instructor, or contact one of the Tutoring Labs listed above. A lot of help is available to
you. Take advantage of it.
