America gets a D grade for limiting abortions

The National Abortion Rights
Action League (NARAL), a
prominent abortion advocacy
group, released a state-by-state
report on the status of state laws

into the 2011 legislative

On the other side, a large
collection of states received
F grades because they have
become havens for pro-life
legislation that is helping
women and preventing
many abortions.
These states include Alabama,
Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana,
Kentucky, Louisiana,
Michigan, Mississippi,
Missouri, Nebraska, North
Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma,
Pennsylvania, South Carolina,
South Dakota, Texas, Utah,
and Virginia.
I am very grateful to MWC’s
volunteers, and I want to thank
them for partnering with the
Center. Our volunteers do a lot
of little things which make a
big difference for our clients,
physically and spiritually.
Some volunteers do things like
vacuuming, cleaning the
bathrooms, preparing mailings,
running errands, doing data
entry, or sorting baby and
maternity clothing.
Other volunteers answer crisis
phone calls from clients, meet
with women for Bible studies,
serve as labor coaches, make
hospital visits, or they may be
the ones who encourage MWC If you are interested in

“You are in the right place”—a client story

In March of 1992, I was a
Christian woman who had
strayed far from the Lord. I had
been raised in a conservative
Baptist church and attended a
Baptist Bible College. Some-
where along the way I became
a bitter, rebellious woman.
At 29 years of age, I found
myself poor, desperate, and
possibly pregnant. I was
guilt-ridden and embarrassed;
I didn't know what to do. I had
no extra money to spend on a
pregnancy test, so to the yellow
pages I went. I found a very
‘generic’ ad that said:
“Metro Women's Center,
FREE Pregnancy Tests.”
There was no mention of
Christianity at all, and the word the news that, yes, indeed my
‘free’ was enticing to me. If
I were indeed pregnant, my
plan was to abort the baby, ask
God for forgiveness, and go on
with my life. There was no way
I was going to embarrass my
family or myself with this
unwanted pregnancy. I thought
for sure that my family would
disown me.
So, off I went to MWC on
Bass Lake Road in Crystal.
I walked up the steps and into
this room, where I immediately
recognized the Christian music
playing in the background and
noticed all the Christian books
and Bibles on the shelves.
I knew this was NOT the place
I wanted to be. But before I
could sneak out, a woman came
up to me and asked if she could
help me. I replied “No, I'm in
the wrong place.” She smiled
and said, “No, I believe you're
in the right place. My name is
Randi. How can I help you?”

The state of abortion clinics — nationally and locally

Nationally—closed abortion centers
American Life League’s Stop Planned Parenthood project (STOPP)
reports that a 2009 survey of Planned Parenthood (PP) revealed
the following:
• A total of 38 PP facilities closed in 2009 and
the number of PP surgical abortion facilities has
decreased. Over a two-year period, six surgical
abortion facilities were closed.
• In the last four years, PP has increased the
number of facilities that commit medical
abortions by 74. Drugs administered by doctors
for this deadly purpose include mifepristone
(RU-486) and methotrexate.
The large increase in medical abortion facilities is due to the fact that
medical abortions are more profitable for PP, since the first drug dose is
taken at a PP facility, and the second dose can be taken at home (where the
mother then gives birth to her dead baby). PP spends less to commit those “ I’ve noticed that everybody that is for abortion has already been born.”

Locally—St. Paul Planned Parenthood mega clinic
Currently in Minnesota there are seven clinics providing abortion services
for women. Additionally, Regions Hospital houses a HealthPartners clinic
that performs over 700 abortions each year. This fall, Planned Parenthood
began preparing the site where they plan to build a new “mega-abortion
clinic” at the corner of Charles and Vandalia in the Midway area of
St. Paul. It appears that some of the workers who are helping at the site are
unaware that they are building a clinic where abortions will be performed.

Recent Developments, January 2011

• Since October 1, 2010, an additional $30,000 has been donated for
the Amazing Grace Home (AGH), bringing the Capital fund balance
to over $240,000 (chart shows fund growth through Sept. 30, 2010).
• The policy and procedure operating manual and resident handbook
for AGH have been prepared, and the board of directors is preparing
to review and refine these documents.
• A realtor has been retained to act as MWC’s agent in the search for
just the right location for the home.
• Several opportunities have presented themselves as sites for the home,
and MWC’s board is reviewing each option. Please pray that the Lord
would direct us to the right place, in His time. so that the Amazing
Grace Home can be established.
