Windows File Association

Sometimes you may have a reason to change the default application that Windows
chooses to open a particular file type. For instance, your PC may automatically launch
Windows Paint to view a file ending in '.JPG'; but you might want to use Microsoft Photo
Editor instead.

Follow the directions here to make Windows remember your preference.

1. Right-click on the document and choose


the ‘Open with…’ command.

2. In the dialog box that pops


up, mark the checkbox to
'Always use this program to
open these files'.

3. Select an appropriate
application. (If the one you
want is not shown in the list,
you can use the ‘Other’ button
to navigate to it.)
