Why is IT Quality important to you?
In today's world, business success is highly dependent on the quality of information
and information processing that supports the business. Companies that cannot
keep up with the fast pace of improvement will have a hard time to keep up with
their competition. More and more, stakeholders such as CEO's and Business
Managers, require professional high-quality services from their IT department that
are at least as good as the services the market can offer, against favourable rates.

Over the past years, the IT Governance Institute has worked together with hundreds
of professionals to develop a framework that incorporates the combined experience
of IT practioneers, the newest insights from leading academics and the standards
set by worldwide accepted frameworks, such as ITIL®, CMMI®, PMBOK® and
ISO17799. The latest version of this framework has been issued in December 2005
as COBIT® 4.0. COBIT® provides a framework for describing and structuring the IT
environment through defining IT goals, IT processes, information criteria, control
objectives and many other characteristics of components of the IT environment
and their relations. This framework can be used to assess and improve IT Processes.
What does the COBIT® 4.0 Quick Scan entail?
Process evaluation
KPMG Advisory has taken the COBIT® framework and developed a service that
will allow a quick and structured assessment of your IT environment against
COBIT®. This COBIT® 4.0 Quick Scan encompasses an efficient high-level assessment
of the key IT Processes.
This process evaluation covers the following areas:
• Maturity : the degree of reliability or dependency the business can place
on a process achieving the desired goals or objectives;
• Completeness : the coverage of the process against the activities suggested
in the COBIT® framework;
• Effectiveness : the degree in which the IT processes support the corresponding
IT goals;
• Process Risk : the relative importance of the IT processes for achieving the IT goals.

Recommendations
Based on the process evaluation we will suggest practical recommendations
for improvement concerning the control maturity and process activities,
and the effectiveness of the process in reaching the IT goals, in view of the risk score
of the process.

Portfolio evaluation
The COBIT® 4.0 Quick Scan includes an evaluation of the portfolio of IT processes
under investigation, with respect to their relative process risk weight, process
maturity, completeness and effectiveness. This will allow you setting priorities
for improvement.
