1. ORIENTACIONES GENERALES
Present Perfect Continuous, or present perfect progressive, serves to express that an
action that has begun in the past continues to occur in the present. It is formed with the
present tense of the auxiliary verb have, the participle of the verb be and the gerund of
the main verb.

3. CONCEPTUALIZACIÓN Y DESARROLLO DEL TEMA
Present Perfect Continuous is used when you want to highlight an action, which
started in the past and still continues, it is formed with the verb 'to have'
accompanied by a participle and a verb ending in -ing.

For and Since are two prepositions that are used with the present perfect and the
present continuous perfect. For means "since" or "during" and is used with a period
of time, for example: ten minutes, two hours, one day, a month, a year, a long time.

Examples:

o It has been raining for two hours. (Ha estado lloviendo durante dos horas)
o They have been living here for two years. (Ellos han estado viviendo aquí
durante dos años)
o She has been absent for two days. (Ella ha estado ausente durante dos días)
o He has been planning a trip for a year. (Él ha estado planeando un viaje durante
un año)
o I have been sick since Monday. (Yo he estado enfermo desde el lunes)
o It has been raining since two hours ago. (Ha estado lloviendo desde hace dos
horas)
o They have been living here since 2013. (Ellos han estado viviendo aquí desde
2013)
o I have not seen her since February. (Yo no lo ha visto desde febrero)
o He has been planning a trip since a year ago. (Él ha estado planeando un viaje
desde hace un año)

5. EVALUACIÓN

a) Rewrite the text in the present perfect continuous adding information with
since and for.

Jack Forrester is one of the most adventurous people from all over the world. In this
article we will take a look at his jobs, personal life and extreme adventures.
Jack has had several jobs, about 30. Among the most interesting jobs we can highlight
the following: he has been an astronaut, a teacher and a dancer. According to Jack,
his most rewarding job has been to be a teacher in Africa, Europe and South
America.
As for his personal life, we can point out that he has had five girlfriends in his life, but
he has only been married once. He hasn’t had children yet, but he wants to have two
daughters.
Jack has lived in more than 15 countries; his favorite country is Japan. He has gone
around the world twice: the first one in 1999 by boat and the second one in hot air
balloon 3 years ago. Some people may wonder how he has paid for these trips and
adventures; well, Jack is an entrepreneur that has created and sold about 6 successful
companies.
Jack Forrester is a role model for his family and friends.
