General Operating Tips
WARNING
When pressure is applied to the
stud tensioners, remain at least 3 to
5 meters (10 to 16 ft) from the stud
tensioning cylinder. Never stand in
front of the unit, in the direction in which the
tensioning force is being applied. Failure to
follow these recommendations could result
in serious bodily injury or death.
Illustration 9. Use Adapter (13) And Bushing (12) For
Front Two Cylinder Head Studs.
1. Stay 3 to 5 meters (10 to 16 ft) away from
the stud tensioning cylinders when
pressure is applied. Always position the
pump where the pressure gauge and the
stud can be observed during the nut
removal or installation process.

carefully monitored at all times by the
operator. If the pressure reading does not
rise, even while continually applying
pressure, stop immediately. This symptom
may indicate warping or deformation of
the stud. If this problem occurs, it is
essential to check the shape and
dimensional accuracy of the stud and
joint.
11. The stud tensioning cylinders must never
exceed their maximum stroke. When the
maximum stroke is achieved, a red mark is
visible on the bushing.

NOTICE
If the stud tensioning cylinder is operated above
its maximum stroke, it will no longer function.
