The requested service and its specifications and condition are described in the next sections
of this document.
The purpose of Field Drive Test is to provide input for “Model tuning” Service.
Field Drive Test for Model Tuning includes setting up of test transmitter at selected test locations
and collecting measurements from the test transmissions during a period previously agreed with
Nokia. It is required at least 5 routes per model.
2.1.1 Scope
• Installation of Power Transmitter and test antenna in a location previously agreed
with Nokia.
• Antenna for model tuning procedures should be preferably omni. In case project
antennas used for model tuning, drive test should be performed taking main lobe
coverage area restriction.
• Nokia will draft drive test route, but it is responsibility of subcontractor to perform
Drive Test up to the maximum distance from irradiating system that levels the
measured signal bellow the receiver sensibility (usually -110dBm)
• Testing of the measurement equipment (TX and RX), before starting drive test,
including test report with accurate power level measurements and loss
measurements.
• Drive test planning and drive test measurement execution and collection, usually 1
working day per site location, unless another specific orientation from Nokia.
• Drive test data post-processing
2.1.2 Inputs
• Site locations for the carrier wave transmitter
• Drafts for the field drive test routes
• Testing methodology
o Transmitter with frequency defined by Nokia installed close to test antenna.
2.1.3 Deliverables
• Measurement tools verification including measurement results (TX and RX) for each
used configuration (power & loss). Equipment check form containing details of the
basic checks on the drive test equipment that shall be made at the start of each
day
• Measurement concept including method of antenna directing, use of antenna type
and down tilt if applicable (sector antenna)
• Report including accurate photos to the antenna installation (direction, height, etc)
• Log details sheet containing notes of any special events
• Scanner log file for the route in electronic format, GPS data
• Drive test route display including the distance as well as possible line of site area
indications and checking that measurements are done inside the antenna main lobe
2.2 Tools
For the purpose of the execution, subcontracting company shall provide during the model tuning
campaign at its own expense, including any license fee, all resources, tools and any equipment
that are directly or indirectly required.
Subcontracting company shall only use the tools and measurement equipment previously agreed
and approved by Nokia.
Nokia has defined the following maps, tools, test and measurement equipment that shall be
provided by subcontracting company at own expenses and shall be used by partner for the
execution of the Field Drive Test for Model Tuning:
It is composed by 2 main parts: Model Tuning as such (Preparation Phase + Model tuning) and
Field Drive Test.
The purpose of model tuning is to increase the accuracy, thus the confidence level, of a
terrain based planning tool by tuning how the progression of the radio waves is modeled in
relation to the morphologic classification used in the digital maps. In order to obtain an
accurate propagation model, the data collected from the continuous wave measurements will
be used as a reference for tuning the propagation model variables.
The input for Model Tuning is provided by “Field drive test for model tuning” which should be
included in the complete service package offered by the Nokia’s partner as answer of this RFP.
3.1.1 Scope
• Morphologic types to be tuned are
• Dense-Urbam
• Urban
• Sub-Urban
• Rural
• Find representative locations for field drive test measurements. Such locations will
be chosen to reflect most of the conditions of the populations involved in the
request. (3 sites per morphology)
• Find a suitable location for the carrier wave transmitter
• Outline the field drive test routes
3.1.2 Inputs
• Area types to be tuned.
3.1.3 Deliverables
• The model tuning & measurement concept including method of directing the
antenna properly, antenna down tilt, antenna type
• Test site locations
• Outlines for field drive test routes

3.2.1 Scope

3.2.2 Inputs
• Field drive test measurement results
• Number of propagation models to be created
• Definition of propagation model formula to be used
3.2.3 Deliverables
• Model tuning report
4 Service Package
The price for this service item (task) considers costs, risks and margins, so Nokia will not pay
anything extra that is not clear specified in this RFP (as extra, eventual, optional, etc). The answer
Model Tuning report has to be available maximum one week after the drive tests are finished. No
invoice will be accepted before Model Tuning Report approval.
Partner shall present the quality assurance process. The partner must be compliant with the
personal safety procedures defined by the each country legislation and best practices.
The proposal must contain the project structure to execute the task (resources, functions, tools,
etc). Technical expertise should be proved (qualified resources).
Partner shall be flexible to manage customer changes and irregular volumes. The amount of
resources should be kept enough to attend the requirements.
