MEETINGS & EVENTS
At this time and until further notice, parish meetings,
bingo and other events are cancelled. It is suggested
that groups find alternate meeting places should you
wish to meet with your group.
IMPORTANT - VOLUNTEER HELP NEEDED
At the moment, we are in dire need of volunteers to
help clean and sanitize the church. We have a limited
number of our crew that are still able to help - please
consider if you can spare some time once or twice a
month to help keep our church clean and germ free.
Rachel, who does all the Ministry Scheduling and
Responsible Faith Ministry will need to hand over the
reins at some point in the near future. Rachel has been
a very dedicated and committed member of our parish
and while she enjoys her volunteerism, her family and
work commitments need her more. Should you be an
organized person who has some time to dedicate to this
ministry, Rachel can provide training and support
during the transition phase. Please contact Rachel or
the office if you are interested.

to You and in accordance with Your will. My dear
mother Mary, watch over me this day. My Guardian
Angel, take care of me. St. Joseph and all you saints of
God, pray for me.
O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I
offer You my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this
day for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, in union
with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the
world, in reparation for my sins, for all the poor souls in
purgatory, for the intentions of all my relatives and
friends, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy

To forgive as God
forgives means to
intentionally act to
purge the evil that
exists between us
and those who harm
us, to take the first,
second and last steps
toward bridging
divisions, to work ceaselessly to mend broken
relationships and to welcome and accept the forgiven
back into our lives unconditionally, totally and
joyfully.
Forgiveness requires empathy, the ability to place
ourselves in the place of the other to see the situation
from the perspective of their pain and brokenness. To
realize the reconciling peace of Jesus begins with
overcoming our own anger and outrage at the injustice
waged against us and focusing our concern, instead, on
the person who wronged us and ruptured our
relationship with him/her — and possessing the
humility to face the hurt we have inflicted on others as a
result of our insensitivity and self-centeredness.
Before our merciful Father in heaven, every one of us
is an insolvent debtor – but the great mystery of our
faith is that God continues to love us, continues to call
us back to him, continues to seek not retribution but
reconciliation with us. All God asks of us is that we
forgive one another as he forgives us, to help one
another back up when we stumble just as God lifts us
back up.
The Risen Christ calls us to seek reconciliation that
transforms and re-creates: forgiveness that is joyfully
offered and humbly but confidently sought; forgiveness
that transforms the estranged and separated into family
and community; forgiveness that overcomes our own
anger and outrage at the injustice waged against us and
focuses on healing the relationship with the person who
wronged us and ruptured that relationship. Christ-like
reconciliation also means possessing the humility to
face the hurt we have inflicted on others as a result of
our insensitivity and self-centeredness.
LIFE CHAIN GRIMSBY
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4, 1-2PM
Sunday, October 4 from 1 - 2pm we plan to gather at
the intersection of Main St and Christie St in Grimsby
to pray for an end to abortion and for all those who
have been affected by abortion. We will be joining our
prayers with thousands of people in 1600 locations
across Canada and the United States who will be
forming Life Chains in their communities on the same
day!
We will pray silently and hold professionally-printed
signs provided at the site. This is a local witness
intended to generate thought and discussion within our
community and to demonstrate that abortion is not a
closed or settled issue in this country. Due to COVID-
19, we ask that participants physically distance from
those outside of their household while attending Life
Chain 2020.

WEEKLY DONATIONS
Over the last several months, we have been extremely
grateful for your loyalty and generosity during this
time of global pandemic when many are still away from
church! Whether through preauthorized giving or the
use of regular envelopes, your donations received in
the mail, given at church or delivered to the office, have
been a great help to ensure we can meet the parish
expenditures. We have seen a significant decrease in
parish revenues and need your continued support.
Especially if you are unable to attend Mass, please
consider online giving or preauthorized monthly giving.
Ways to give instructions are attached to this bulletin.
If you are attending Mass, since there is no
collection, please drop off your offering in the
collection box at the entrance of the church before
or after Mass.
SACRAMENTS FOR OUR STUDENTS
Since we opened our church (June 21st), half of the
students who were to receive their Reconciliation &
First Communion last spring have received their
Sacraments. Parents of the remaining students are
asked to contact the parish office if they would like
to celebrate these Sacraments this year.
Fr. Chris will be emailing the families of eligible
grade 8 students (who were prepared last spring)
within a week or so with details to celebrate their
Confirmation. Understandably, protocols currently in
place for our worship space will apply and will
determine the number of families able to celebrate at a
given time.
NORTH OF 60 UPDATE
Niagara area SVDP councils are rapidly reaching the
end of our 5th summer of gathering and sharing with
our sisters and brothers in Nunavut. Father Daniel of
Our Lady of the Snows Church eagerly awaits its
arrival. St. Helen SVDP sent rice and 22 pairs of winter
boots. This week the sea container ships to it’s final
destination in Naujaat in October. They are so very
grateful for ALL your continued support to ensure
Nunavut could receive food this summer. They have
been especially impacted by your support this summer.

If you would like to use this convenient method through your bank, please follow these
instructions (some banks charge a fee):
Go online and log into your bank account. Select Interac e-transfer and select a
recipient – the first time you will have to add recipient by putting in
donations@sthelenscatholic.ca (after the first time it will then stay on your list of
recipients). Input amount to send and complete the transaction. Note in the memo area
what your donation is for; Sunday Offertory (SO), Facility Maintenance (FM) and
Building Fund (BF). (Please include your ID# in the memo - contact the office if you
do not have a parish ID.)
Example - SO $20 One transaction can be made for all three if you wish. Such a
notation could look like this: SO $xx, FM $xx, BF $xx. If your transaction does not
work the first time, please try the next day as the Diocese can only receive a set amount
of donations in a 24-hour period. If you have any questions, please email or call the
office.
