Pastor’s Notes

I’m always overwhelmed when the

Holy Ghost comes down and speaks to
give a Word from the Throne Room of God. The Lord
has been speaking to us over the last several weeks and
I’ve tried to give those words to you over and over
again. This past Sunday, the Holy Ghost said the
following: “YE ARE MY PEOPLE AND I LOVE
YOU. IT IS NOT MY DESIRE FOR YOU TO
SUFFER. IT IS MY DESIRE FOR YOU TO
WORSHIP….IT IS MY DESIRE FOR YOU TO WORSHIP, TO HONOR ME, TO
SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD. LOOK TO ME. PUT ME FIRST. I AM A
JEALOUS GOD, AND I LOVE YOU, AND I WANT YOU TO LOVE ME WITH ALL
YOUR STRENGTH, MIND, HEART, BODY, SOUL, AND POWER. I AM GOD. I
WILL….I WILL…..I WILL LIFT UP THE STANDARD FOR YOU.” Did you get
that? God said that we need to love Him with all our strength, mind, heart, body, soul
and power. H said to put Him first. Let me ask you a question….do you love Him with
everything that is within you? Do you put Him first in every area of your life? Be
honest…don’t make excuses….search your heart. There is a difference in “liking” the
Lord and “loving” Him!!!! Remember when Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him? Peter
said, “Yes, I love you”. When Jesus said “do you love Me”, the word “love” meant
“beloved”. In other words, “Peter, are you in love with me and consider me your
beloved?” Peter replies with a different word love. The word he used means “fond of”.
Jesus asked Peter if he was really loved Him and Peter replied, I’m fond of you Lord.
How many Christians today are saying “I love you Lord” but the form of the word they
use means “I’m fond of you, Lord”? Revival changes that. We begin to hear the cry of
God saying I’m tired of my people being fond of me…..I want them to LOVE me,
REALLY love me….with everything that is within them……more than they love anyone
or anything else….. Do you love Him like that?

Our 40 days of fasting started at 12:01 AM Tuesday

morning. I hope that you have committed to join with us
in this spiritual endeavor. Is fasting fun? NO! Is it easy?
NO! Is it worth it? YES!!!!!!!!! I told you Sunday night
that we are fasting for the same reason Ezra called the
people together at the river. They were fasting because
they had a need. That’s why we are fasting! We have a
need. We need REVIVAL!!!! We need physical healing,
financial help, favor on our jobs, our families saved, our
church to grow……and the list goes on! We need God to move on our behalf. I’m
willing to fast to get to the AFTERWARD!!!!! Our Children’s Department has been
teaching on Fasting as well as our Youth Department. This is a church wide endeavor.
Thank you in advance for joining with us.

If you did not get to fill out one of the yellow fasting cards, please get one off one of the
tables in the lobby, fill it out and give it to Pastor Terry. Shortly, there will be blue
“afterward” cards for you to fill out as the Lord begins to answer prayers.

This past Sunday, we had 3 churches (including ours) to baptize converts in our baptismal
pool. Roebuck Church of God came at 2:00 Sunday afternoon and baptized 3 new
converts!!!! Continue to pray for the Roebuck Church and Pastor Guy! Then Sunday
Night, Popular Springs Full Gospel Church joined us in worship and had 4 people to be
baptized. We had 5 to be baptized, too! I’m so blessed to be part of a church and
community that can worship together and share the blessings of God. It gives us just a
little glimpse of what heaven will be like!!!!!

The date for receiving new members into the church is this Sunday!!!. If you would like
to join with our church, please meet with the Pastor at 9:30
that Sunday morning. Come to the door marked “STAFF” at
the Christian Life Center, across the street from the in church
complex. Come straight in and enter the room directly in
front of you. Should you have any questions prior to that
time, please call the church office and Pastor Terry will be
glad to answer any questions you have. In advance, welcome
to our church family!!!!!

There is still time to pick up tithing envelopes! If you haven’t gotten yours yet, get them
off the small table in the hall as you are going towards the restrooms. If you don’t see
your name on a box and would like to join us in the blessing of tithing, see Pastor Terry
and he’ll get the info to the secretary and a box will be secured for you! Thanks for your
faithful and consistent giving!!!!!

I mentioned this information Sunday morning, but you may not have been present. Sis.
Mertice Whitmore has retired as our Church Custodian. She has been a blessing to our
church and took her task not as a job, but as a ministry for the Lord. Her service is
greatly appreciated and she certainly will be missed. Bro. Curtis Lyda has been hired as
our new Church Custodian. He is has been filling in on a temporary basis, but began last
week as the regular Custodian. Welcome to staff, Bro. Lyda!

Sis. Faye Arnold also retired. She retired several years ago but was called back into
action to help the church and pastoral staff. She has continued to serve for several years
and felt the timing right to finally enjoy the retirement life. We certainly will miss Sis.
Faye and wish her nothing but happiness and blessings! She will continue to assist us in
some areas and certainly will continue to worship with us. We are happy to announce
that Andrea Hyman has been secured to serve as our Church Secretary & Bookkeeper.
Andrea will do a great job and will be a blessing to our church family. Welcome to the
staff, Andrea!!!! Please give her a call and welcome her or send an email to the church
email address: wcog@woodruffcog.org.

Finally, Curtis & Betty Culpepper has asked to step down from the J.O.Y. Club and
Senior Adult Ministry. They have thoroughly enjoyed serving in that capacity and hope
to still be involved. I know that all those who have been part of the J.O.Y. Club had been
blessed by their ministry and enjoyed the great times of food, fellowship and travel.
Please be sure to let the Culpepper’s know of your appreciation!

We’d like to announce a new Ministry Position at the church. After praying about what
to do with the vacancy of the J.O.Y. Club leaders, I really felt the Lord saying this was an
opportunity to “MOVE FORWARD” in a most important area of the church. The Senior
Adults had been the most consistent, most faithful and most financially supportive group
of the church. They have paved the way for us to enjoy what we have today. So to insure
that they have the adequate care they need and the continued opportunity for ministry, we
will now have a SENIOR ADULT PASTOR!!!!!!! I am happy to announce that Pastor
James Shealy has agreed to serve as the Pastor to Senior Adults. He will be visiting
with you, ministering to you, planning programs for you, discipling you, involving
you!!!!!! What a blessing this will be to you, to our church and to me personally!!!!!
