To Whom It May Concern:

It is my sincere pleasure to write this letter recommending Jason Lescak for elementary school
teaching positions. Mr. Lescak recently facilitated an innovative music teaching program for my 6-
year-old son, Dexter Geddes, that is culminating in a life-long love of music.

Prior to the start of this personalized program, Mr. Lescak interviewed myself to better understand
my expectations as well as what I believed Dexter wanted to learn. He also discussed the program
plan with Dexter and asked his option of what he wanted to learn. Based on this shared
understanding, Mr. Lescak tailored his lessons to suit the learning objectives and to create a fun
and interactive program.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Lescak had to teach the program remotely via
videoconferencing. In particular, he taught Dexter how to play the guitar, which is certainly
challenging to facilitate remotely. Regardless, Mr. Lescak rose to the occasion and successfully
engaged Dexter to learn about parts of the guitar, how to hold a guitar, strum it, play chords, and
keep rhythm. He even tailored his program so that each lesson built upon the former lesson. As a
parent, I could not have been more impressed by Mr. Lescak’s enthusiasm, patience, and ability to
engage Dexter. It was a pleasure to observe each of his lessons!

Moreover, following each lesson, Mr. Lescak encouraged my participation in Dexter’s learning by
uploading a short video that said hi to Dexter and then reviewed what he had taught Dexter such
as the name of the chord and how to place his fingers on the strings. Mr. Lescak also updated a
slide deck following each lesson with the new chord. These technologies have really supported
Dexter’s learning needs, as well as my own, as I was able to watch the videos with Dexter and then
help Dexter practice what he learned. Overall, Mr. Lescak truly valued and respected my
involvement as a parent and Dexter’s learning.

Based on my experience as a former instructor at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of

Education, and current work experience with educators, Mr. Lescak is an excellent teacher. He was
able to plan engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction, effectively teach in a
challenging remote environment, values the involvement and support of parents, and is
dependable. Based on watching Mr. Lescak teach and seeing how much Dexter loves his lessons,
Mr. Lescak has demonstrated that he is thoughtful, reflective, and genuinely loves teaching
children.
