We use the present simple:


- for FACTS which do not change : “She has got blue eyes”.
- for PERMANENT or habitual actions : “She goes abroad every year”

AFFIRMATIVE: To form the third person (HE, SHE, IT) in the affirmative form you add
an “S” to the verb
- Verbs ending in : “ss, ch, sh, x and o”, add “es”, to form the third person singular: - I
go - He goes
- Verbs ending in “y” following a consonant, change the “y” into “i” and add “es” : - I
study - He studies

NEGATIVE: The negative is formed with the auxiliary DO/DOES in negative.


- I/you/we/they + Do not (Don’t) + Verb
- He/she/it + Does not (doesn’t) + Verb

INTERROGATIVE: Use the auxiliary DO/DOES at the beginning.
