Reflection
Last October 24, 2019, we were assigned to administer the final examination
of the selected sections of Grade 11 Senior High School students of Davao Doctors
College, Inc. It was one of our final requirement in our professional subject-
Assessment of Learning 1. When I first knew it, I was a little bit nervous because I
thought that we will not be accompanied by an instructor but I was grateful because
the teachers were there to instruct us. I was uncertain because it was my first time
conducting a test and to think that it was their final examination. Upon entering the
classroom, we were introduced to the students. The teacher instructed us to
distribute the test questionnaires and answer sheets. After that, we were tasked to
look after them while they were answering. I observed some students who were
trying to ask answers from their classmates. We immediately called their attention by
standing and roaming around the classroom. After they finished the examination in
Filipino, I was assigned to write the answers on the board in Gr.11-Curie. I got
nervous because I was not confident with my handwriting especially on the board. I
observed that the students in the said section were very noisy but when their teacher
instructed them they happily followed him. Administering a test was a new
experience for me. It was a little bit exhausting because we should be alert in case
there were students who were cheating. All in all, I could use this experience in the
future when I become a teacher someday.
Limitations in Administering a Test
After that experience, I concluded that during examinations, there are things I
should be able to improve. These are the following:
When distributing test questionnaires, I should apply the “Get One and Pass”
system in order for me to save time and effort;
During examinations, I should strictly imply the “No Talking” policy to avoid
cheating;
I should also instruct the students that after examination they are not allowed
to stay inside the examination room;
I should also make the instructions of the test questionnaires clear so that my
students could answer the questions at ease;
In writing on the board, I should make my handwriting visible by the students
to avoid confusion; and
I want to an authoritative teacher where students have respect for me as their
teacher.
Being a teacher is one of those challenging jobs I know. I will strive hard to
achieve this noble job. I hope that I could apply these things in the future.
