Managing Tunnel Risk

A critical element of any tunnel project is the effective management of risk & hazards.
MissionOS creates an environment in which all relevant tunnel geological plans and profiles together
with pre-tunnel assumptions, including the geology revealed through drill hole data, can be easily loaded.

It is possible to identify hazards and register them within the MissionOS platform through simple
digitising and classification. Additional relevant hazards & consequence meta-data such as building damage
assessments can also be incorporated.
MissionOS can host all geotechnical and survey instruments installed in a tunnel as well as at the surface.
On-going records of ground movement and instrumentation monitoring can then be carried out both in
manual mode as well as in real-time.

The system hierarchy can be readily configured combining geotechnical, survey and TBM parameters into
single & tables in order to assess correlations.

The unique MissionOS user-interface is extremely intuitive and allows for the creation of a bespoke
dashboard for key instruments or parameters.

Once configured, geological cross-sections and generic canvas screens can automate the reporting process,
manage alarms, safety events and processes using collaborative blogs.

Importantly, this frees up valuable engineer’s time to focus on risk management and mitigation.

Obtaining accurate prediction data becomes quick and easy using MissionOS. The system provides a
range of analytical tools enabling the user to create instant comparisons and the critical analysis of
project data can be achieved dynamically.

With such a high level of built-in configurability, any TBM parameter can be immediately compared
with predictions and instrument data as sections, plots & contours. The ability to combine key TBM
parameters such as face pressure, thrust, cutter wear etc. with geotechnical data provides an important
insight into critical parameters as the TBM progresses through the ground.

A significant capability of the system is the newly introduced automatic 3D model generation feature.
This allows for the interrogation of data to be presented in a 3D rendering in real-time.

Managing Productivity

QS Charts are easy to produce from a range of fixed templates

Easy-to-use interface for the creation of shift reports

MissionOS optimises all input data to generate a common cycle of statistics allowing for cross-comparison
and analysis against the forecast plan.

The system monitors the time records of all site related activities during excavation and throughout the
lining of the tunnel. Each record is then identifiable within the critical path activity.

As the tunnel progresses, data can be acquired from the TBM in real-time and automatically converted
into structured data & analysed using highly configurable graphing & reporting to produce customisable
interfaces combining all key TBM machine data with other measured parameters.

Tunnel geology and hydro-geology information can also be incorporated with the MissionOS system.
Other construction records including temporary works ( Probing, grouting, mapping, support, installation),
QA/QC tests ( Both concrete & steel) plus photographic & CCTV records can all be included.

This provides a platform for more comprehensive collection of data, from probe hole drilling & Pre/Post
excavation records to photographic records of jobs and structures.

MissionOS was awarded a “Productivity Improvement Project” award by the Singapore Building Authority
in 2015.

Managing Safety

System users can easily operate the software through its intuative user-interface.
MissionOS allows the user to monitor all critical aspects of tunnel activities & safety in real-time.

The system automatically prompts Alerts and Actions to a heirarchy of users for assessment and further
interrogation of data. These warning notifications can be sent by e-mail & SMS-text automatically, or
alternatively, by the engineer responsible after verification. Reports can also be produced in PDF format.

The Blog feature gives user group members the opportunity to add their own comments and feedback
to any given topic. Attachments can be included to a Blog comment and easily viewed.

Users can search specific topics, check for updates as well initiate their own new threads. The system
automatically archives all Blog information ensuring that the data history is fully maintained throughout
the duration of the project and afterwards providing a valuable accesible library resource if required.

MissionOS is a highly configurable, structured operation system, which monitors and controls all the
various activities a tunnel project generates, reducing risks and managing safety.

TBM Process Control

Tunnel process control is the feedback between the observed behaviour of the TBM and
supporting plant with data records, predictions and observations. The objective is to tunnel
safely and effectively, maximising productivity, whilst minimising any harmful effects, such as
settlement. This feedback requires numerous streams of data to be connected and compared
in real-time and MissionOS is the most complete and configurable system to do this.
System users can freely interrogate data and provide enhanced levels of supervision, knowing
that MissionOS is managing the data processing.
