WHEN MONITORED
The bus is awake and the turn signal switch is on.
SET CONDITIONS

The Door Module senses a short to ground on the Mirror Turn Signal Driver circuit for more than two
seconds.
DEFAULT ACTIONS
The Turn Signal Lamp in the Mirror is inoperative.
POSSIBLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSTIC TEST
1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION

1. Cycle the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
3. Turn the drivers side turn signal on.
4. Turn the park lamps on.
5. Turn the rear defogger on, if equipped with heated mirror.
6. Press and release the Mirror Select switch to select the Driver Outside Rearview Mirror.
7. Operate the Mirror Adjust switch in all directions several times while monitoring the scan tool for
DTCs.
NOTE: After adjusting the mirror in one direction wait at least two seconds
before adjusting the mirror in the opposite direction, as this will allow
time for an active fault to set if present.
8. With the scan tool, read the DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as ACTIVE?
Yes
Go To 2
No
Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this
time. For vehicle's equipped with folding outside rearview mirrors, repeat the above test with
the mirror folded. If this DTC is now active, Go To 2. Otherwise, using the wiring diagrams
as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion,

pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.

Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
2. INSPECT MIRROR CONNECTIONS
1. Cycle the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Driver Outside Rearview Mirror C1 and C2 connectors at the Drivers Door Module.
3. Inspect the wiring harness, connectors and the Drivers Door Module.
Were there any problems found?
Yes
Repair as necessary.
No
Go To 3
3. MIRROR OR MODULE
2. With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.
4. Fold And Unfold the mirrors several time, if equipped with folding mirrors.
DTCs.
9. With the scan tool, read DTCs.
NOTE: Check for a change in DTCs.
Yes
With the circuit now OPEN that indicates the short is NOT in the Module. Replace the mirror
in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MIRROR, OUTSIDE REARVIEW,

REMOVAL and MIRROR, OUTSIDE REARVIEW, GLASS, REMOVAL .

No
Replace the Door Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE,
DOOR, REMOVAL .

ANY SIGNAL OR DRIVER CIRCUIT

2. Turn all accessories off.
3. Disconnect the Driver Outside Rearview Mirror C1 (Component Side) and C2 (Component Side)
harness connectors from the Door Module.
4. Measure the resistance between the (P501) Driver Mirror Turn Signal Driver circuit (C2-9) and
each Signal and Driver circuit in the Driver Outside Rearview Mirror C1 and C2 (Component Side)
harness connectors.
Is the resistance below 10K Ohms for any measurement?
Yes
Repair the (P501) Driver Mirror Turn Signal Driver circuit for a short to a Signal or Driver
circuit. If the wiring harness and harness connectors are okay, replace the Driver Outside
Rearview Mirror in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MIRROR,
OUTSIDE REARVIEW, REMOVAL and MIRROR, OUTSIDE REARVIEW, GLASS,
REMOVAL .
No
Inspect the wiring harness and harness connectors for damage and repair as necessary. If the
wiring harness and harness connectors are okay, replace the Door Module in accordance with
the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, DOOR, REMOVAL .

Driver Mirror Turn Signal Return circuit in the Driver Outside Rearview Mirror C2 (Component
Side) harness connector.
Is the resistance below 30.0 Ohms?
Yes
DOOR, REMOVAL .
No

Repair the open in the (P501) Driver Mirror Turn Signal Driver circuit. If the wiring harness
and harness connectors are okay, replace the Driver Outside Rearview Mirror in accordance
with the Service Information. Refer to MIRROR, OUTSIDE REARVIEW, REMOVAL
and MIRROR, OUTSIDE REARVIEW, GLASS, REMOVAL .
B18B5-00-MASTER SWITCH - FRONT LEFT WINDOW SWITCH - STUCK
WHEN MONITORED
This diagnostic runs continuously when the following conditions are met:
The Bus is awake.
The Door Module is configured as the Driver side.
SET CONDITIONS
The Door Module detects a Front Left Window signal from the master power window switch for more
than 30 seconds.
DEFAULT ACTIONS
Incorrect window operation. All other switches operate normally.
POSSIBLE CAUSES

1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, create a Vehicle Scan Report and attach it to the repair order.
3. Operate the Front Left Window up and down several times.
4. Wait 30 seconds.
5. With the scan tool, read DDM DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes

Go To 2
No
The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Operate
the switch several more times. If the switch ever sticks, replace it. If no problems are found,
test complete.
2. MASTER POWER WINDOW/DOOR LOCK SWITCH
NOTE: Anytime this code is active, the switch must be replaced.
Repair
Replace the Master Window/Door Lock Switch in accordance with the Service Information. Refer
to SWITCH, POWER WINDOW, REMOVAL .

The Door Module detects a Front Right Window signal from the master power window switch for more

THEORY OF OPERATION
If both of the Window Driver circuits (Up and Down) are grounded during a window movement command, the
motor will be totally inoperative. To lower the window, voltage is applied to the Window Driver (Down) circuit
and the Window Driver (UP) circuit remains grounded in the module. To drive the window up, the circuits are
reversed.
WHEN MONITORED
This diagnostic runs when the following conditions are met:

The Bus is awake.
A window movement command by the switch is done.
The relay is on for at least 10 ms.
SET CONDITIONS
The Door Module detects the Window Driver circuit(s) Up/Down is grounded.
DEFAULT ACTIONS
The window will move only in one direction.

wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water
intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension and repair as
necessary. If no problems are found, test complete.


2. CHECK THE WINDOW MOTOR FOR A SHORT
1. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
2. Turn the ignition off.
3. Disconnect the Driver Window Motor harness connector.
5. Operate the driver window switch up and down several times.
6. Wait 30 seconds.
7. With the scan tool, read active DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
Go To 3
No
Replace the Driver Window Motor in accordance with service information. Refer to
MOTOR, WINDOW REGULATOR, REMOVAL .
3. CHECK THE (Q21) DRIVER WINDOW DRIVER DOWN CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO
GROUND
2. Disconnect the Driver Door Module C4 harness connector.
3. Check for continuity between ground and the (Q21) Driver Window Driver Down circuit.
Is there continuity between ground and the (Q21) Driver Window Driver Down circuit?
Yes
Repair the short to ground in the (Q21) Driver Window Driver Down circuit.
No
Go To 4
4. CHECK THE (Q11) DRIVER WINDOW DRIVER UP CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Check for continuity between ground and the (Q11) Driver Window Driver Up circuit.
Is there continuity between ground and the (Q11) Driver Window Driver Up circuit?

Yes
Repair the short to ground in the (Q11) Driver Window Driver Up circuit.
No
Go To 5
5. CHECK THE (Q21) DRIVER WINDOW DRIVER DOWN CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO THE
(Q11) DRIVER WINDOW DRIVER UP CIRCUIT
1. Check for continuity between the (Q21) Driver Window Driver Down circuit and the (Q11) Driver
Window Driver Up circuit.
Is there continuity between the (Q21) Driver Window Driver Down circuit and the (Q11) Driver
Window Driver Up circuit?
Yes
Repair the short between the (Q21) Driver Window Driver Down circuit and the (Q11)
Driver Window Driver Up circuit.
No
Replace the Driver Door Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to
MODULE, DOOR, REMOVAL .
B18BA-12-WINDOW CONTROL - CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY


THEORY OF OPERATION
If either one of the Window Driver circuits are shorted to battery, the motor will operative in one direction only.
If the current remains on when the window is in its full travel, the circuit breaker will open. To lower the
window, voltage is applied to the Window Driver (Down) circuit and the Window Driver (UP) circuit remains
grounded in the module. To drive the window up, the circuits are reversed.
WHEN MONITORED
The Bus is awake.
SET CONDITIONS
The Door Module senses the Window Driver circuit(s) Up/Down are supplied with voltage.
Possible battery draw by the Door Module not going into sleep mode.
DEFAULT ACTIONS
Incorrect window operation.

Replace the Driver Window Motor in accordance with service information.

3. CHECK THE (Q21) DRIVER WINDOW DRIVER DOWN CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO
VOLTAGE
2. Disconnect the Driver Door Module C4 connector.
4. Measure the voltage between the (Q21) Driver Window Driver Down circuit and Ground.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
Repair the (Q21) Driver Window Driver Down circuit for a short to voltage.
No
Go To 4
4. CHECK THE (Q11) DRIVER WINDOW DRIVER UP CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
1. Measure the voltage between the (Q11) Driver Window Driver Up circuit and Ground.
Yes
Repair the (Q11) Driver Window Driver Up circuit for a short to voltage.
No

THEORY OF OPERATION
If either one of the Window Driver circuits are open, the motor will be totally inoperative. To lower the
window, voltage is applied to the (Q21) Window Driver (Down) circuit and the (Q11) Window Driver (UP)
circuit remains grounded in the module. To drive the window up, the circuits are reversed.
WHEN MONITORED
The Bus is awake.
The relay is on for at least 10 ms.
There is no short to battery detected.
SET CONDITIONS
The Door Module senses no voltage on one or both Window Up/Down circuits.
DEFAULT ACTIONS
No window movement.

Window loses calibration.

3. Connect a 12-volt test light between the (Q11) Driver Window Driver Up circuit and the (Q21)
Driver Window Driver Down circuit.
NOTE: The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to
that of a direct connection to the battery.

5. Trip the driver door latch to the closed position.

6. Operate the driver window switch up and down several times while observing the test light.
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the switch is pressed in both directions?
NOTE: With the express up window, the test light will only flash momentarily
each time the switch is activated.
Yes
Replace the Driver Window Motor in accordance with the Service Information.
No
Go To 3
3. CHECK THE (Q21) DRIVER WINDOW EXPRESS DOWN DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A OPEN
3. Measure the resistance of the (Q21) Driver Window Down Driver circuit between the C4 Module
connector and the motor connector.
Yes
Go To 4
No
Repair the open in the (Q21) Driver Window Down Driver circuit.
4. CHECK THE (Q11) DRIVER WINDOW DRIVER UP CIRCUIT FOR A OPEN
1. Measure the resistance of the (Q11) Driver Window Driver Up circuit between the C4 Module
connector and the motor connector.
Yes

Repair the (Q11) Driver Window Driver Up circuit for an open.

The window motor is continuously requested to move repeatedly without a sufficient cooling time (1-2
seconds).
SET CONDITIONS
The Door Module logic has determined the temperature has exceeded 80°C (176°F).
DEFAULT ACTIONS
Window is inoperative.

1. Run the window to the full up position and continue to hold the switch for an additional two
seconds.
2. Run the window to the full down position and continue to hold the switch for an additional two
seconds.
3. Again run the window to the full up position and continue to hold the switch for an additional two
seconds.
4. Lower the window to the full down position then press and release the switch to the express up
position.
Did the window move to the full up position?
Yes
No
Go To 3

THEORY OF OPERATION
The driver electrochromatic mirror is controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM). The BCM receives the
dimming control from the sensor in the Interior Rearview Mirror. The BCM send a Bus message to the Driver
Door Module (DDM) which turns the dimming on and off. At night the dimming will be cancelled when the

vehicle is in reverse.

Whenever the module is awake and the park lamps are on.

Whenever the Body Control Module sends a command to the Door Module to turn the Day/Night dimming on

1. Disconnect the Driver Door Map Pocket and Handle Lamp harness connectors.
2. Measure the resistance of the (M33) Driver Door Ambient Lamp Driver circuit between the DDM
C5 harness connector and the Driver Door Map Pocket Lamp harness connector.
3. Measure the resistance of the (M33) Driver Door Ambient Lamp Driver circuit between the DDM
C5 harness connector and the Driver Door Handle Lamp harness connector.
Is the resistance below 2.0 Ohms on both the (M33) Driver Door Ambient Lamp Driver circuits to
the Map Pocket and Handle Lamps?
Yes
Go To 5
No
Repair the open in the (M33) Driver Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit.
5. (M34) DRIVER DOOR LIGHTING RETURN CIRCUIT OPEN
1. Measure the resistance of the (M34) Driver Door Lighting Return circuit between the DDM C5
harness connector and the Driver Door Map Pocket Lamp harness connectors.
2. Measure the resistance of the (M34) Driver Door Lighting Return circuit between the DDM C5
harness connector and the Driver Door Handle Lamp harness connectors.
Is the resistance below 2.0 Ohms on both the (M34) Driver Door Lighting Return circuit to the Map
Pocket and Handle Lamps?
Yes
Replace the Driver Door Ambient Lamp(s) as necessary.

No
Repair the open in the (M34) Driver Door Lighting Return circuit.
