The #OnePilipinas Quiz Bee is one of the activities organized by Positive Youth
Development Network in support of the celebration of the 122nd Philippine
Independence Day. The Quiz Bee is a competition for individual participants ages 10
to 24 years old.
A. Participants:
1. The contest is open to any participants ages 10-24 years old.
2. The quiz bee is individual in nature.
C. Elimination Phase:
1. The Elimination Phase shall utilize FB live as the main platform. Answers to the
questions shall be submitted as comments.
2. The Elimination Phase shall be conducted on June 11, 2020 (12:00-1:00 pm)
There shall be thirty (30) questions to be answered by the participants within
fifteen (15) minutes.
3. There shall be (3) ROUNDS. Each round shall have 10 questions.
4. The Quizmaster will ask the 10 questions per round. At the end of each
question, the participants shall be given 10 seconds to submit their answers.
5. The top fifteen (15) participants shall join in the Final Phase
D. Final Phase:
1. The Final Phase shall be conducted on June 12, 2020, at 11:00-12:00 pm.
2. There shall be three (3) rounds: Round 1, Round 2, and Round 3.
3. There shall be ten (10) questions in Round 1, ten (10) in Round 2, and five (5) in
Round 3. Three (3) questions shall be given in cases of ties.
4. Point system for any correct answer: Round 1 = 1 point/correct answer; Round
2 = 3 points/correct answer; Round 3 = 5 points/correct answer
5. A Quiz Master, a Timer, and a Scorer shall be assigned to facilitate the
competition.
E. Quiz Bee Proper:
1. The Quiz Master shall read the question while the question itself will be flashed
on a screen for the contestants to see.
2. All answers must be written on the slate boards. It shall be raised when the
allotted time is over. Failure to do so will signal a warning for the first offense
and disqualification for the second.
F. Declaration of Winners:
1. The participant that garnered the highest marks shall be declared as the
winner.
2. In cases of ties, three (3) clincher questions will be raised to break the tie. The
mechanics for the Clincher Round will be the same as that of Round 1.

4. Contestants shall provide their own oil pastels, brushes, illustration board, and
other materials that they need for the contest. The contestant’s artwork shall be
painted on a landscape 10” by 15” (1/8) illustration board, using any brand of oil
pastels.
5. The theme of the contest is “One Pilipinas: Working together, winning together.”.
The expression of the theme must revolve around love of country or love for Filipinos.
All artworks must be done on-the-spot, and must be completed within the allotted
time of two hours. Unfinished artwork will be disqualified and will not be included in
the judging.
6. Participants shall take a photo of the finished artwork and send it to the PYDN
page.
7. The winner shall be judged using the following criteria: Originality and Creativity
(60%), Relevance to the Theme (30%), and Neatness of Art Work (10%) for a total of
100%
Originality and Creativity (60%). What is the main idea behind the artwork? How
novel is the design? Does the artwork make use of the medium and materials in a
creative way? Judging must also take into account the artist’s use of color, texture
and other elements of art to communicate his overall concept.
Relevance to the Theme (30%). How does the artwork convey the theme? How does
the artist convey the love of country or love for Filipinos? How does it inspire the
viewer? Does the artwork have any emotional resonance and does it stay with you
after viewing it?
Neatness of Artwork (10%). How is the overall production quality? How much skill
was employed to produce the entry?
8. There will be two sets of prizes and medals. The three major winners will be
selected.
9. Winning and non-winning pieces may be used for the continuing advocacy
campaigns of Positive Youth Development Network.
Guidelines/Mechanics:
4. The piece must be delivered/recited by the writer in 2-3 minutes video. The writer
can wear any appropriate attire, these are but not limited to formal attires,
indigenous/cultural attire, etc.
5. An English or Filipino subtitle must be included in the video for pieces that are
written in other regional languages.
7. Submit a soft copy of your piece and the video on or before June 10, 2020,
Wednesday, 11:59PM, to youthcan@pydn.org with the subject: #OnePilipinas
Spoken Poetry Contest.
