THE LIFE STORY OF AN ORDINARY GIRL

I’m just an ordinary girl, my name’s widiana, my friends usually call me only Dee.
Living on the earth among my lovely family and friends is the greatest gift I ever had.
Now, Just sit and spend your time to read my story.
On year of 1990, my parents sent me to join the “Balita Competititon”. At that
moments, I learned a lot of things like the way to eat politely, the way to sing well, the
way to dance gracefully, and many more. I was the youngest participant in that
competition. Finally, I was the 3rd winner and my parents was so happy.
I remember my first disappointment about school. I was four years old and I had
just started kindergarten which is near to my home. I was excited. I expected a magic
garden and strange animals like the one in my storybook. At that time, I admired a
Cinderella story so much. I wished I could have played with elves and sung a song
everyday. I walked into class in my new yellow dress and stiff, and new shoes. After I got
an explanation from my mother that the elves and the strange animals are only live on the
storybook, I could accept the situation. Luckily, I got 1st rank and be the best student on
my graduation.
After kindergarten, I went to elementary school where I spent 6 years to learn a lot
of things. I also learned various school subjects like mathematics, social science, and
english. By now I knew that the teachers give the homework every single day and we had
to make and collect it on the table. The elementary school is non-government school, so
my parents should pay more for the school fee. They will do the best for their children’s
education although they are just civil servants. My elementary school has their own
custom to celebrate a graduation. My friends, my teacher and I walked around the
“Simpang Lima” and worn white moslem clothes. Before that, we had to finished our
reading of Al Quran and juz ‘amma.
Then I went to secondary school. The moments which I spent my time in SMP 2
Semarang are the greatest thing of my life. I love every step and everything about my
junior high school. I did learn a lot about the meaning of friendship and I found my
bestfriends, we have shared the laughter and the pain and even shared the tears. I had to
be both a good student and a good friend which was not very easy. I also learned about

having a sweetheart that made my life more colourful. But, don’t try to help your friend
for a bad thing like separate a couple of love (of course I did).
Senior high school has a very different impact on me. But of course I’m still a
teenager who has a lot of expectation to explore everything. I’m getting interested in
english since I was in 1st grade. I learn it much just through looking at the printed page
and listening to the language. I seem to do most of my learning through practice. After
the teacher teaches me a new expression, I usually need to practice it, act it out with
friends and put myself in a situation where the expression is used. Of course I make a lot
of mistakes but when my teacher corrects them, I try to imitate my teacher. However, I
get to know myself better and realize that this was the one thing I couldn’t learn from
school. This was self-education.
Now, I’m 17 years old and I’ve got more than a girl could wish for. I love the way I
am, I have a perfect family that makes me stronger everyday. I realize how rich my life
has been and how much richer it can still be made. I hope I can get my dreams come true.
