Chapter one
Introduction
1.1 Introduction to Gaurigunj Milk Co-operative
Gaurigunj milk co-operative is an association of speciation,
agriculture, economist, social and market specialist. It was
established in 2049 B.S. under the act 2048. It is a non-
government institution, which is giving regular help in
agriculture sector. Being an agricultural country, many people
are engaged in farming. 81% of the total population of Nepal is
dependent in agriculture for a living.
The main work of agriculture is product of milk. It is also main
economic source of farmers. Providing much more facility to
farmer of cattle is the great help for them. In our
underdeveloped country, there is rapid increase in population.
Not all, but some of the portions of problems created by over
population like starvation and poverty can be solved by
adopting cattle.
Due to the lack of economic source many people have
distressed feeling towards agriculture. By adopting cattle and
utilizing them in the right way they can generate income.
Gaurigunj Milk co-operative is established to somehow
contribute in getting rid of this condition of farmer. If we
produce, milk and milk products by using this co-operative, of
cource, there will be decrease in unemployment problem.
Gaurigunj milk co-operative regularly involves in the
development of agriculture sectors. It has explained its area for
collecting milk up to the 4-kilometer range of its office. The
main aim of the Gaurigunj Milk Co-operative is to utilize the
local skill and resource to develop and change the life-style f
poor people and to make people dependent. From this milk co-
operative is the best source of economic development.
Gaurigunj milk co-operative has regulary worked for
development of agricultural sector. It only does not collect milk
form farmer also develop the socio-economic condition of poor
people by organizing different program such as providing
grains. It has also supplied fresh milk, curd, cheese, and ghee to
all people. In chitwan, there are many people who are
dependent in agriculture. In agriculture, providing milk is main
work of farming.
This firm has helped agriculture sector as well as providing
satisfaction to all customers. Gaurigunj m ilk co-opereative,
which is located in bharatpur-8, has given regularity for thirteen
years. It has tried to provide quality food to cattle, producing
high quality milk, which awareness to farmer.

1.2 Background of the fieldwork

There are a lot of milk products firm chitwan. Gaurigunj milk co-
operative firm is located in Gaurigunj-8. It covers the area of 2
ropanis. Gaurigunj milk co-operative has direct effect to
farmers and non farmers of chitwan and in direct effect to the
non-farmers of other district.
A group of 60 people established the milk collection center
under the co-operative act of 2049 8th magh. There are five
building with one garage. Due to the lack of farmer members,
the firm was in loss but nowadays it is in profit. Now it is
running in a profit of atleast 6 million yearly. The ratio of
earning is medium because it is a service-oriented firm. It is
mainly focused on quality production and helping the farmers.
it has distributed its products not only in chitwan but also in
many parts of the country. The village farmers and the people
of different part is fully satisfied by the work of the firm. It has
become one of the examples because It has provided
qualitative ghee, curd, cheese etc.

1.3 Problem Identification

Many years ago, there was only one market player in the
Nepalese milk market and promotional advertising was not felt
necessary for milk market at that time. However, today the
situation has changed. In the Nepalese milk market there are
many things manufactured up of milk in the country at present.
Hence, to get the effective result from promotion all the
promotional tools should be treated as part of promotional
strategy and should be coordinated with each other. Only
advertising may not be enough. Today, those manufacturers
who are spending huge amount of money one other tools of
promotion like sales promotion, public relation, events,
publicity and personal selling along with advertising only are
getting good market for their products even in our country.

1.4 Objectives of study

Project is outcome of the activities that are running in certain
time, budget and procedures. So, the project must consider as
the activity that must perform with in this standard of
constraints but in Nepal the result are opposite. The concept of
sales is relatively new in Nepal and we can rarely find the
project, which meet the standard and the activity as well as
output relating to its budget, time and work procedures. A
report shows that project in Nepal average 3 year’s delays that
it is standard. There are many things to research and find out
on the practice of sales promotion. Therefore, the main
objective of the fieldwork is to study the market of Gaurigunj
milk co-operative to point out the problem and the proper
solution as well.

1.5 Limitation of study

The research is only been done for study purpose. The
research, being a student, has very limited time and resources.
This study confined only to Bharatpur ward no. 8. Therefore, it
may not be representing all Nepalese milk market. The sample
size taken for study is small in Comparison to the population of
the study. In relation to the Limitation, this study hindered form
below mention factors.
I) The degree of validity of the information provided totally
depends on the provider of the information.
II) Only people of the organization provided information.
Hence, overall people of the company were taken into
consideration.
III) To most important and emerging issue of today, the
comparison of hysterical data and present data with
considering time value of money and price level change
but this has not considering it in this report.
IV) This report has been prepared within the time prescribed
by Aroma Secondary English School and in the certain
area; hence it is not complete study of every aspect.
V) This fieldwork assignment in based on the cash inflow and
overflow; hence overall component is pointing needed for
the study is ignored.

1.6 Chapter plan

Well planning should be done before doing any work because
planning helps us to know, where, when and what to do during
the study. Here, limitations mean the planning, which is below.
The whole study has been divided into 4 chapters. The first
chapter contains introduction, content research methodology
and second chapter contain of data and third content summary
and conclusion and recommendation.
According to point wise description at first ‘introduction
chapter’ background of field work, literature survey, statement
of problem, objectives of field work, field work procedure,
method of data collection, limitation of the study and chapter
plan, ‘research methodology’ consist of research design,
analytical tools, procedure of the fieldwork and method of data
collection.
The second chapter co ‘presentation and analysis of data’
consist of presentation of data, analysis of data’’ analysis of
data and study result. In chapter third summary and conclusion
and recommendation’’ design into three chapter summary
conclusion and recommendation.

1.7 Review of literature

Simply market means a place where people get
together for buying and selling goods but in items of economy,
it has broad sense. “market is a grouping of customer which
consist of all existing and potential customer who buys goods or
service to fulfill all existing and potential customers who buys
goods or service to fulfill their potential needs and desire.’’
Similarly, market segmentation is process where whole market
is divided into several segment according to the buyer, needs,
want and desire. It means to satisfy and fulfil the demand of
the buyer is the market segmentation.
There have been many definition books by different authors.
Some are as follow:
‘’Market segmentation is the act of identifying and
profiting distinct group of buyer who might prefer or require
varying and marketing mixes.’’(Phillips kotler)
In conclusion, what we understand is that, to divide
several market segments to sell goods and service are the
market management or market segmentation.

Chapter Two
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
For the purpose of completion of this project we have obtained
data from Both the primary and secondary source. The data
collected are evaluated effectively and converted into
information. The primary sources of data consist of obtaining
information from the concerned department by interviewing.
The secondary source of data consists of the journals, article
and other forms of data that directly or indirectly helped us in
the preparation of report.
2.1 Research design
Research design refers to the framework of the study i.e.
the structure of research, which was maintained for this study.
The study is mainly focused upon the sales study applied by
Gaurigunj multipurpose milk co-operative. In this study, various
problems relating to the sales study were assessed and
suggestion was made for the improvement of the system. The
study was divided into four chapters. This first chapter contains
introduction of the co-operatives in which the field report had
conducted, background of the study, objectives and purpose of
the study, statement of the problems, methodology and
limitation of the study. The second chapter contains research
methodology and research design and fieldwork procedures.
They had been personated and analyzed in third chapter and
finally summary as well as conclusion was inserted in fourth
chapter.
2.1.1 Fieldwork procedures
While preparing this fieldwork report, the following procedures
and activities were adopted:
A. Pre-fieldwork activities
Under these activities, the following steps are taken for
preparing fieldwork report.
 Selection of topic and organization.
 Selection of proper study schemes.
 Consult with the concern person.

B. Fieldwork activities
After completing all pre-fieldwork activities, the future steps
are taken into account, which are stated as below:
 Meeting with concerned person of organization to take
permission and collection data.
 Overview of the organization.
 Questionnaire of administration.

2.1.2 Method of data collection

There can be adopted different methods to collect the data.
While studying something, we have to depend on nature and
objective of relative’s subject. To identify the planning of the
project, there are two types of data collection methods. They
are as follow:
A. Primary data collection
The originally collected data are known as primary data. In this
method while preparing report we meet related person and get
the data by interacting with the directly related personal. For
the collection the primary data some available several
procedures are:
 Interview
 Question
 Observation
 Firm’s daily book
 Visiting with relative person
 Investigation
 Phone & e-mail

B. secondary data collection:

There are many methods to collect secondary data. It was
collected from annual report and organization has provided
other publication and necessary data. It can be collected
indirectly.
2.1.3 Analytical tools
For the proper analysis, the data is requires to be presented
through proper method that facilitates healthy comparative
study of data. In this fieldwork report, data is analyzed by the
help of pie-charts, simple bar diagrams and as same, different
accounting, financing and statistical tool have been used for the
analysis and interpretation of data which has vast presence of
data which his vastly presented in chapter 3.
Chapter Three
Presentation and Analysis of Data

3.1 Presentation of Data:

Gaurigunj multipurpose milk co-operative was established in
the budget of 500000.00 (five hundred thousand) of which
15000.00 is spend for building and rest of amount was spend

changeable. Distribution of medicine could not be measured in
kg. Therefore, it could not be in distribution chart. Sales
activities should be done according to market condition; in the
above figure two years production program is shown. By
observing the above table we can say that it has increased its
product distribution to consumer of firm and it has created
positive effect on society. By introducing new method of
distribution, necessary fare for customers given by firm, What
type of effect does it have in community, can it maintain its
position or not, these type questions may arise. Therefore, for
the solution of this question, we have detail investigated by
different business holder people and consumers. What type of
perspective the consumer about the firm? To know the real
perspective, we have a bar graph on the case of sales down

3.2 Findings
By observation above the chart sales of milk is only 80 %, which
has been, creating positive effect in a society. For more
satisfaction, we have performed farmer survey. This survey is
conducted with 540 people. From the study, we can say that
they have accepted or not.
GMPMCL had distributed its milk, ghee ,curd and cheese
directly through Gaurigunj milk product and Gaurigunj milk
department Bharatpur and indirectly to many district of Nepal
