WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
A synonym is a word or phrase that has the same or nearly the same meaning as another
word or phrase. It comes from the Greek “syn” and “onym,” which mean “together” and
“name,” respectively. Synonyms can be any part of speech, as long as both words belong to
the same part of speech.
Example:
Albert was certainly funny. His comical nature meant that
his amusing stories were almost always hilarious.
