Club Mission
We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to
develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal
growth.

Meeting Theme: Take Action Word of the Day: Catalyst

A substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself undergoing any
permanent chemical change. A person or thing that precipitates an event.

Time Role / Agenda Item for September 23, 2020 Member

6:30PM President inspires positive tone and calls meeting to order Avishek Roy Chowdhury
Pledge of Allegiance. Possible New members induction. Encourages guests to share
their name and what drew them to the meeting. Hands over the meeting to The Toast-
master of the day.
6:35PM Toastmaster continues energizing momentum as Theme Introduced Akin Oni, CC
Warm inviting tone with high energy welcome keeps the audience positive momentum
going forward. Toastmaster is the MC of the day, guiding participants according to
planned agenda. Will modify agenda slightly if timeline is off. With the hel of executive
board members, keeps flow going throughout the encouragingly toned meeting.
6:37PM General Evaluator Introduces The Evaluation Team Camille Morales
The General Evaluator evaluates anything and everything that takes place throughout
the meeting. The GE is responsible for the Evaluation Team including Evaluators, Ah
Counter, Grammarian, and Timer.
6:38PM Grammarian Introduction Jessica Sun
The Grammarian introduces new word of the day for all to use as often as possible. Be-
gins catching positive phrases used by all and watches for grammatical corrections to
positively guide speakers in a report given toward end of the meeting.
6:39PM Ah Counter Introduction Rafia Safi
The “ah counter” notes the use of words and sounds used as a “crutch” or “pause filler”
by anyone who speaks during the meeting. Words may be inappropriate interjections
such as “and, well, but, so, you know;” and sounds may be “ah, uh, um, er,” or other non-
words used by the speaker.
6:40PM Timer Introduction
The Timer is responsible for keeping track of the time for each segment and participant in
the meeting. The Timer signals the participant with a green card when qualifying time has
been reached; then at the mid-point with a yellow card; and a red card will signal when
30 seconds remain. After 30 seconds the participant is disqualified.
6:41PM Ballot Counter Introduction Susan Ally
The Ballot Counter collects the ballots after all speeches and evaluations have been de-
livered, and tallies the results for the club.
6:42PM Speaker #1 Introduced By Toastmaster Kathy Kest, DTM
A major portion of each Toastmasters meeting is centered around one or more speakers
who have prepared their speeches based on manual project objectives. These speeches
last from 4-6 minutes for the Icebreaker; 5-7 minutes for most projects in the basic Com-
munication and Leadership Program manual; and different times for projects in various
Advanced Communication and Leadership Program manuals.

Table topics master asks theme aligned questions for audience to practice impromptu
speaking skills. Will adjust time to end on planned time for ballots to be cast at 7:20.

Tabletopics Master asks Timer who qualified. Give guests 30 second mercy. Vote for all
qualified.
7:21PM General Evaluator introduces Speech Evaluators Camille Morales
7:22PM Speech Evaluation #1 Jorge Alba
Evaluator combines official evaluation form, a structure and personal impression, to pro-
vide specific praise for points speaker got right and positively toned options for improve-
ments in either Content, Delivery or Connection. Goal is to encourage confidence in the
Speaker and overcome negative self-talk, while also providing practical coaching to im-
prove their public speaking skills.

meeting back to the President
