1. Introduction

1.1 Preamble
This document is intended to act as a guide for use in the planning of subsea inspections of Origin’s
Kupe Wellhead Platform (WHP), so that all future inspections are carried out in a safe, efficient and
consistent manner.
These guidelines are not intended to over-ride or supersede approved project-specific or contractual
documents, but rather to act as a source of supplementary information on how the Kupe WHP jacket
and subsea appurtenances are to be inspected.
Guidelines regarding subsea inspection of Origin’s Kupe Subsea Raw Gas Pipeline and
Electrohydraulic Control Umbilical are contained in a separate document (NZL-K400-ENG-GDL-
00001).

1.2 Overview
This document has been prepared to provide guidance on inspection and data recording activities for the
Kupe WHP.
This includes:
 The inspection of the WHP jacket structure
 The inspection of risers, spools and J-tubes
 The inspection of all other WHP appurtenances
 Data acquisition during WHP inspection
Sufficient information should be collected to allow the WGIM Nexus IC Inspection software baseline
model to be reviewed and corrected as necessary.

1.3 The Kupe Field

1.3.1 General Description
Kupe is located approximately 30km off the South Taranaki coast of the North Island of New Zealand.
Kupe is operated by Origin Energy and is a joint venture between Origin 50%, Genesis Energy 46% and
New Zealand Oil & Gas 4%.
The Kupe facilities consist of an offshore platform with three production wells, a 30km long 12 inch raw
gas pipeline running from the platform to the shore, an onshore production station near Hawera, and
light crude storage and export facilities near Port Taranaki in New Plymouth.
At capacity, the project provides approximately 20 petajoules of natural gas and 1.5 million barrels of
light crude oil and LPG each year. Condensate is exported to refineries in Australasia and the South
Pacific.
The water depth in the Kupe field is up to 40m.

Figure 1 - The Kupe Field and Assets

1.3.2 Seabed
The near shore seabed from the shoreline to 4km off the coast is covered by boulders up to 1.5m
diameter with some isolated patches of sand.
Beyond this boulder section the seabed is defined as sand/silty sand, with isolated patches of iron sand
and peat.
1.3.3 Rock Berms
In the near-shore area, the pipeline and umbilical are laid on pre-constructed rock berms to elevate them
above the boulder field. A total of 86 rock berms were installed in two groups separated by a 250m sand
lens located between Berms 65 and 66.
1.3.4 Piggyback Clamps
The umbilical is secured to the pipeline with 358 “Trelleborg” Piggyback Clamps in the boulder zone,
where they are both exposed. The Piggyback Clamps were replaced with an improved version during
the 2013 Phase III Project.
1.3.5 Stabilising Mattresses
During installation the pipeline and umbilical were stabilised with concrete “Anchormat” mattresses in
areas where target trenching burial depth was not achieved, over the pipeline on the top of each rock
berm, and over the combined pipeline and umbilical in the “sand lens” area.
Further mattresses were placed over the pipe and umbilical during the 2013 Phase III Project.

ROV Surveys carried out in 2014 and 2015 showed that straps were loose or broken in some locations,
and that some of the 2013 mattresses had moved or become displaced.
1.3.6 Prevailing Weather
The Kupe Field is exposed to long period swells from the Southern Ocean, which occur most of the year,
as well as severe storms in the Tasman Sea.
The prevailing winds are South-easterly to Westerly.
The prevailing current direction is South-East/North-West.
1.3.7 Water Depth and Tidal Range
The water depth is 34.1m LAT at the WHP (KP0.000) and 14.0m LAT at the HDD subsea exit
(KP28.000). The tidal range level data is based on predicted tides relative to MSL. The tidal water level
data for the WHP location is applied to the pipeline route design.
Table 1 below shows tidal ranges for each of the end locations.

KP28.000
HAT 2.012 1.890
MSL 0.000 0.000
LAT -2.012 -1.889

Table 1 - Tidal Ranges

1.3.8 Field KPs
The KP distances used in the Kupe field are linear, and separate KPs exist for the pipeline (Pipeline
KPs) and umbilical (Umbilical KPs).The umbilical is 356 metres longer than the pipeline due to
overlength installed at the WHP end.
Pipeline KPs are used as the primary reference system for the pipeline, pipeline mattresses and
piggyback clamps. Pipeline KP0.000 is at the spool flange/pipeline interface (Flange 2) at the WHP
end.
Umbilical KPs are used for assets associated with the umbilical. Umbilical KP0.000 is at the centre of
the J-Tube bell mouth on the WHP.
1.3.9 General Access
The WHP has unobstructed access on all four faces.
Visibility may be considerably reduced if the seabed is disturbed. Scour has previously been reported
around the mudmat and piles at the base of the platform. Seabed spud can depressions from the Ensco
107 Jack-up rig used during the installation and drilling phases may still exist in the area.
Hard marine growth fouling may be significant in shallow water and may obscure detail or restrict ROV
or WROV movement within the confines of the jacket.
References to the platform orientation will be relative to plant north as shown on the drawings.
Clock positions and other conventions used for orientation are shown in the drawing contained in
Appendix-A.

1.4 Inspection Documents

This Inspection Guide outlines Origin’s preferred methods of executing the works and must be read in
conjunction with the Kupe Subsea Inspection Procedures (OEUP-NZK400-PRO-ENG-001), which
contains standards and procedures employed for underwater inspection and reporting with the use of
WGIM NEXUS IC/IC Inspection software.
It should also be read in conjunction with the Subsea Intervention Plan - Kupe Field Marine Operations
(NZL-K300-OPS-PLN-00001).
Origin will organise future IRM programmes based on the philosophy contained in these documents.

1.5 Inspection History

There has been one complete Level II Survey of the Kupe WHP by ROV since completion of the
installation and commissioning phases in 2007-9. This was carried out in accordance with Origin’s
KWHP Integrity Management Plan, as approved by Lloyds Register and this took place in April 2011.
In March 2013 a further platform inspection was planned as part of the Phase III clamp remediation
works, but due to time restrictions this inspection was limited to high priority FMD (which was 87%
completed due to access restrictions) and a scour survey (which was 50% completed). The rest of the
WHP Level II Survey inspection tasks were not completed.
The pipeline and umbilical inspections were 100% completed in March 2013.
There have also been several ROV inspections and three remedial surface diving interventions on the
exposed sections of pipeline and umbilical since 2007.
In 2014 an interim inspection of the newly installed clamps and matts was carried out, along with an
inspection of the subsea suspended wells.
In 2015 a high definition baseline MBES sonar survey was carried out on the Rock Berm area, for
comparison with future surveys.
In 2016 a level II inspection of the platform was completed, as well as a suspended well survey and a
second high definition MBES survey which was processed and compared with the 2015 data.
In 2017 surface divers were used to clean and inspect umbilical sheathing and core damage at
KP26.233. The damage was then wrapped with Denso and vinyl tape and secured with cable ties to
prevent further seawater ingress.

1.6 Communications
To ensure a consistent and coherent approach to inspection works throughout the project, all
communications regarding inspection and data collection should be directed through the Inspection
Coordinator.

2. Roles and Responsibilities

2.1 Introduction
The Master remains in overall charge of the safety of the vessel and crew at all times.
Weather and operational constraints can have a major effect on access to various worksites.
The CSR and IC, in consultation with the Master, will determine the most effective way to utilise the
vessel to expedite the works. In the event the weather is unsuitable for shallow water Diving, or ROV
operations, the vessel may relocate to a site where operations can continue. Contingency plans should
be prepared and ready to execute if the inspection or remedial work scopes are moved to a different
site.
The project Organogram outlines the chain of command. Various departments are expected to
cooperate in achieving a safe, efficient and cost effective operation, while maintaining a high standard
for data collection.
The following outlines key roles along with a description of their areas of responsibility. Note that,
depending on the Scope of Work, some roles may not be filled.

2.2 Client Site Representative (CSR)

The CSR is Origin’s senior operational representative on the vessel.
The CSR monitors work activities to ensure alignment with project and HSE objectives, oversees in field
work permitting via the Kupe Production Station supervisors, interfaces with the vessel crew, carries out
incident reporting, participates in daily planning meetings, preparing daily reports, and managing change
as required.

2.3 Client Site Engineer (CSE)

The CSE’s role is to provide engineering oversight and support throughout the project. The CSE has
been involved in the detailed planning and preparation works prior to the campaign and is present
offshore to oversee the execution of the workscope.
He assists the Contractor’s Project Engineers (and other personnel) in ensuring tasks are performed
safely, efficiently and in line with Origin’s engineering objectives for the project.

2.4 Inspection Supervisor (IS)

The Inspection Supervisor’s role is to monitor the data being collected for quality and accuracy. The IS
has access to field records which allows them to compare historic data with the data being collected. If
data is of poor quality he can request the components to be re-inspected at the contractor’s cost.
The IS will be nominally qualified as a CSWIP 3.4U Underwater Inspector Coordinator and have
significant inspection and/or pipeline experience with Nexus Integrity Centre (IC) software packages.
The IS is normally involved in the WGIM Nexus IC Inspection database planning and development
phase, prior to the offshore project execution.

2.5 Diving Supervisor (DS)

A Diving Supervisor will be employed if the project has a diving component.
The Diving Supervisor is responsible for all diving operations and associated over the side work,
including liaising with the ROV Supervisor during simultaneous operations. The Dive Supervisor will
ensure that diving operations are carried out in accordance with statutory regulations and industry
standards. They will also be responsible for all over the side vessel crane operation directives laid out in
the Dive Plan.
They will work in conjunction with the online 3.4U Inspector to facilitate the collection of accurate data
during construction tasks. This data will be used in future engineering assessments and development of
maintenance procedures.

2.6 Inspection Coordinator (IC)

The Inspection Coordinator will be CSWIP 3.4U Underwater Inspector qualified and have experience
with pipeline survey and Nexus IC Inspection software. The Inspection Coordinator is expected to
prepare the inspection database during project preparation and planning.

CDN/ID 3238021: NZL-K400-ENG-GDL-00002

The Inspection Coordinator has the pivotal role of leading the inspection and ensuring the following
departments form a cohesive team, working together to bring the contract to a successful conclusion.
This will include but not be limited to the following:-
 Liaise with the CSR with regard to planning the most effective way of expediting the work scope.
 To ensure that all personnel are fully briefed as to the client’s requirements.
 To ensure that all online survey and events data is collected in accordance with the procedures.
 To keep track of all completed and pending work and be able to advise the CSR of outstanding
tasks in case the vessel should be moved to a different location.
 To ensure that all offline survey and events data processing tasks are being carried out in
accordance with the procedures.
 To prepare the daily progress report and ensure it is appropriately distributed.
The IC will ensure that time is not lost through duplication, bad planning or poor quality work.
The IC will ensure findings are thoroughly reviewed, along with the associated video clips and grabs, so
that the data to be included in the final report is clear and easily available.
All data required for the final report should be in the possession of the report writer before the end of the
contract and the demobilisation of the vessel and inspection equipment.

2.7 ROV Personnel

ROV personnel are required to be experienced in pipeline and platform survey and inspection operations
and have operational experience with the type of vehicle in use.
It is expected they will proactively guide the online inspection personnel in operational matters as
necessary and that they will participate fully in the data collection process.

2.8 Online Inspection/Data Recorders

The online inspection personnel are responsible for conducting the various platform inspection tasks
data in the most efficient manner.
A clear record of which components have been completed shall be kept and communicated to the IC
and on-coming shift personnel.
Commentary will only cover the present inspection. Open microphones and ROV direction over the
commentary are unacceptable.
Unsuitable commentary or unacceptable background chatter on encoded video will require audio
dubbing of that encoded file, or re-survey of the affected components with sufficient overlap at the
Contractor’s cost.
The IC will determine the optimum method of carrying out the inspection/survey and it is the
responsibility of the online personnel to comply with his instructions.

2.9 Offline Review/Data Recorders

If there are sufficient online personnel to allow rotation during a shift, the persons not working online will
be required to review their own work to carry out corrections and report expansion.
Work will be peer reviewed by the IC and Company IS.

2.10 CP Engineer
Origin may require that CP surveys are carried out by a specialist CP sub-contractor.
The CP engineers, who may also be certified CSWIP 3.4U Inspectors, must be familiar with the
requirements of the inspection.
All calibrations are to be done in accordance with the contractors approved procedures.

2.11 FMD Engineer

The FMD Survey will be carried out by a specialist FMD Contractor.
The FMD engineer is in sole charge of the radioactive source and will ensure that all regulations and
procedures regarding transport, storage and use of the source are complied with.

2.12 Support Vessel Bridge

The bridge personnel will inform the IC, ROV supervisor, and CSR (and other parties as have been pre-
agreed) of impending vessel moves dictated by unforseen changes in environmental conditions.
This is intended to avoid delays that may occur due to poor communication during unplanned vessel
moves, and ensuring the production station/platform is aware of vessel intentions.
Routine working moves requested by ROV or diver need not be communicated to the CSR unless they
stop the inspection or are likely to be time consuming.

3. WGIM IC Inspection Software

Procedures for using the WGIM IC Inspection software within the Kupe field can be found in Kupe
Subsea Inspection Procedure (OEUP-NZK400-PRO-ENG-001), which contains standards and
procedures employed for underwater inspection and reporting with the IC Inspection software at Kupe.

3.1 General Use

The components and events that comprise the Kupe WHP inspection works have been entered into
WGIM Nexus IC and used to create the workpacks that form the basis of the inspection. It is anticipated
that each workpack will encompass an area of the structure and generally be broken down into the four
faces of the platform, each level and then any other components, such as the riser and J - Tube.
Some components might appear in the drawing for a particular area, but not be incorporated in the
workpack as they are included elsewhere. No component should be duplicated or missing.
The Inspection Coordinator should be informed if errors are found, and to offer suggestions for system
improvement, which may be able to be incorporated in this or future projects.
A Nexus IC administrator will be available by telephone to support the software and will liaise with the IC
to resolve any issues. If the issues cannot be corrected offshore, the IC must inform the Origin IS or
CSR, who will decide and advise on the course of action.
It is essential that inspection personnel review the drawings and familiarise themselves with the
workpacks in order to plan an efficient approach to the inspection.
In the event data cannot be gathered due a breakdown in the inspection system, a fault report will be
required, which will be generated by the IC.

3.2 Component Details

Each component has several attributes attached to them when they are created, such as depth and
access. These may not always appear to be correct, the most common difference occurring with the
depth range. All depths are taken from the construction drawings and are related to LAT.
Due to tidal change, depths may not always coincide with the readout from the ROV. When fixing the
depth of any component, anomaly or inspection site, depth must be given relative to a known component
on the structure and not taken directly from the screen.
If any of the component details, such as depth or dimensions, require updating contact the system
administrator through the coordinator. In the event a component is missing or not as per the drawings,
raise a Variation to Specification (VS) Finding as described in Appendix E, giving the required
amendment details. Also include video and frame grabs from relevant angles and, if necessary,
sketches to allow the database to be updated.

3.3 Associated Drawings (Appendix B)

This inspection will be used to confirm drawings are correct or need to be updated. Enough information
should be gathered to enable this.
In the event that drawing errors are identified, contact the Origin IS through the IC. They will be
responsible for facilitating the updating of the drawings after the inspection has been completed, and
having firsthand knowledge of an event is invaluable.
The drawings in Appendix-B are the minimum required for the inspection. The IC will have a complete
library of field drawings, which are available for use to assist in the inspection works and for ROVs and
divers to move around the Kupe Field assets safely and efficiently.

3.4 Special Instructions (found in Task Description)

Some components may have Special Instructions attached to them in the Task Description. These
should be read carefully, understood and adhered to. They contain information, which is important and
pertinent to the inspection. If required, request clarification from the Origin IS or CSR through the IC.

3.5 Anomaly Register

An Anomaly register has been compiled, stored and maintained within the NEXUS IC system.

3.6 Finding and Anomaly Reporting

A Finding is defined as “an Event record of significance which requires further scrutiny and assessment”.
Findings are raised automatically when Event data is outside defined parameters, and can also be
raised manually.
The IC will provide guidance regarding the raising of Findings.
Findings should have full details recorded, including but not limited to an accurate, concise description,
dimensions in at least two planes, the location relative to the pipeline including KP, Eastings and
Northings and CP readings.
Findings will be reviewed and assessed by the IC and the IS, and may be escalated to an Anomaly, or
linked to an existing Anomaly. The final classification will be made by the IS after consultation with
appropriate parties, and feedback will be given to the IC.
If a Finding is considered critical it should be immediately communicated to the IS or CSR, who will
determine what action is to be taken.
The Findings report for the previous 24 hours from 00h00 to 23h59 daily should be available the
following morning for distribution.

4. Kupe WHP Subsea Inspection

4.1 General Visual Inspection

The GVI of each component should be carried out using the colour camera, with approximately 70% of
the screen filled by the component. A monochrome low light camera can be used if it offers another
perspective to help achieve a better understanding of the component.
Each component is to be fully surveyed. Most horizontal and diagonal members will require 2 passes to
achieve 100% coverage. Leg sections should have sufficient passes to achieve 100% coverage, which
is likely to be a minimum of three.
If access to a component is restricted or it is buried, the video recording must show the restriction or
burial. Priority should be given to the area of the component most likely to be affected by dropped
objects or collision.
A stand-off video is preferable to no video at all.
It is important to ensure that the component has been correctly identified. If incorrect component ID text
is overlaid on the recording, contact the Inspection Coordinator and a decision on re-recording will be
made. Generally re-recording will not be required unless there is a Finding or an Anomaly. Ensure that
the correct component number is identified in the comments against the appropriate video recording.
Comments should be entered against video recordings where appropriate in the video log, particularly
when components have been inspected using multiple passes.

4.2 Anodes
There are 89 sacrificial anodes fitted to the structure. The location of the anodes (as designed) is shown
in the following drawings in Appendix A.
 PR006008-300-DW-3621-0215 (41 face anodes)
 PR006008-300-DW-3621-0216 (36 elevation anodes + 12(4 x3) pile sleeve VDM anodes)
Raise a Finding for any deviation for anodes as shown on the drawings.
Anode wastage should be grouped into 25% bands for reporting purposes.

Anode stub attachments are to be inspected for integrity and the anode body where splits and material
loss can occur.
If the wastage of an anode exceeds the anomaly limits, a report must be generated. The Finding
generated will include a video recording of the anode; a frame grab from one end of the anode showing
as much as possible of the anode body; details of the anode location including any metallic debris in
contact with the component; the condition of any visible coating. A contact CP measurement should only
be taken if further degradation or damage will not be caused on the component.
Remaining anode life can be assessed from the Field Gradient (current density CP) measurement, if it is
included with the CP system, and the results recorded in the CP report.
Additional contact readings taken on any anode or component are to be recorded in IC Inspection.
Below is a guide to assist with the anode wastage estimation and to keep the assessment consistent.

Figure 2 - ANODE DEPLETION

4.3 CP Survey
The most recent CP survey of the WHP was carried out by New Plymouth Underwater during the 2016
ROV inspection campaign. Refer to Kupe 2016 ROV Wellhead Platform Jacket Level II Inspection
Report NZ-K400-45-RP-0007. It is recognised that establishing a ground wire to the WHP if it is
unmanned for the purpose of taking proximity CPs might not be possible, therefore the focus is on
contact CP readings.
The two FBE coated DSS spools that connect the WHP riser to the pipeline should be inspected as part
of the WHP survey to Flange 2. Contact CP measurements should be taken on all exposed flanges and
at any damage that has resulted in exposed metal.
There are 79 contact CP locations on the WHP structure, and 1 each on the spool flanges, if accessible.
The CP location list is contained in Appendix B.

4.4 FMD Survey

FMD operations, if part of the Scope of Work, will be carried out under the direction of the approved
Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) from the FMD survey company at all times.
It is the RPS’s decision to fit the radiographic source and launch the vehicle, having taken into account
the environmental conditions. The online inspectors are to act as a second observer, participating in the
operation and recording the results of the FMD of each component on video.
A short video will be required to confirm the correct component has been selected and to record the
results of the FMD. It is important the online Inspectors ensure that the video overlay is correct for
member is being examined.
If a member is found to be flooded, the CSR or IS must be contacted immediately, through the IC, for a
decision on the next level of inspection to be carried out. The associated Finding report that is generated
must include a video recording to confirm that the correct member has been identified.

There were 79 members In the 2013 Inspection Campaign FMD scope, 68 of which were completed
representing 86% completion. Restricted access members made up the incomplete workscope. For the
detailed Tracerco FMD report from the Summer 2013 Campaign, refer to Appendix A – Tracerco FMD
Report of the Kupe Offshore Campaign As-Built Report NZ-K400-95-RP-0013 Part 2.
FMD was not scheduled in the 2016 ROV platform survey.
The drawings used for the FMD survey are the same as the general inspection. A listing of all the
components giving their diameters and wall thicknesses can be found in Appendix C.

4.5 Marine Growth

4.5.1 General
Marine Growth increases drag and weight loading on the jacket. Percentage cover, type and thickness
are to be recorded as an ‘Assessment’ or a ‘Survey’.
4.5.2 Assessment
A Marine Growth Assessment estimates the percentage cover of hard and soft marine growth, which can
exceed 100% when combined. The thickness required is the maximum value of a representative area,
not an isolated individual shell or item of soft coral.
A good gauge to use for thickness assessment would be the CP probe (a known diameter).
An assessment forms part of the general commentary of component inspection and differs from the
‘Survey’ section below.
4.5.3 MBES Measurement
In 2015 an ROV mounted MBES sonar was used to image Marine Growth, and specifically Mussel
Growth at 32 locations, and then overall measurements taken off the sonar images. The Marine Growth
thickness was calculated by subtracting the known leg member diameter from the overall measurement.
Measurements were not taken at depths below -13m, because it had been observed that the mussel
density is decreasing to almost non-existent from that depth.
The accuracy of carrying out measurements in this manner was proven in harbour tests by comparing
MBES sonar measurements with known dimensions on steel members.
MBES sonar diameter measurement calibration can also be done by standing off from a clean section of
jacket leg (of known diameter) by a known distance, and comparing this to a measurement of a growth
covered leg from the same standoff distance.
The MBES technique is only suitable for vertical members. The image measurements were taken
immediately above or below a node away from the influence of horizontal members, looking centrally at
a leg along a cardinal line.
These measurements were repeated in the 2016 ROV inspection campaign. Refer to Kupe 2016 ROV
Wellhead Platform Jacket Level II Inspection Report NZ-K400-45-RP-0007.
The 36 locations described in Section 4.5.4 should also be surveyed.
The Figure 3 below shows the Measurement points. The measurement values are from the 2015 survey.

4.5.4 Visual Survey

A Marine Growth Survey is specific to location, will be entered as an Event into IC Inspection and
requires the use of an approved gauge.
Images of the marine growth gathered during the survey may later be analysed by marine biologists to
assess type and variety.
36 members at a variety of elevations on each of the four faces (9 per face) have been pre-selected for
marine growth survey. These are regarded as the minimum scope of a visual marine growth survey.
If MBES measurements of marine growth thickness at are not performed as per the previous section,
marine growth observations should also be performed on the jacket legs at -3m, -6m, -9m, and -13m.
The drawing below shows one face of the Kupe WHP with 9 Marine Growth Survey Points. The WHP is
symmetrical, and each face requires Marine Growth Survey on equivalent members.

4.5.5 Removal
There may be a requirement to remove marine growth to SA1, where all marine growth is removed
without causing any damage to the coatings. Likely is the removal of marine growth such as mussels to
reduce dynamic loading on the structure, or to allow an inspection to take place.

No previous attempt to remove WHP Marine Growth has been made in the splash zone or subsea, thus
it is unknown what the most effective method of MG cleaning might be.
Diver and ROV options include scraping devices, hydraulic rotary wire brush, CaviBlaster, water blaster
The WHP has paint and anti-corrosion coatings to -3m LAT and the riser has a neoprene and HDPE
coating that extends -4.6m below LAT.
Damage to the coatings caused by an aggressive cleaning technique must be avoided. The most
suitable removal technique will be determined at the time.

4.6 Scour and Debris Survey

4.6.1 Scour Survey
The scour survey is performed using video and depth and/or altitude values.
The depth reading locations are determined by the layout of the platform and cardinal lines taken
through the pile sleeves. All cardinal points are relative to platform north.
A reference depth must be taken on a named component at the start and end of the survey at each pile.
In the event the visibility prevents a reference depth being taken at the mudmat, a reference depth can
be taken at a named component at a shallower level. If the survey moves to another pile within two
hours, the first reference may be used. However, a new reference depth must be taken after two hours
and the component used logged in the comments box of the new bathymetry event. The new event is to
be added into IC Inspection by the online inspector.
After the reference reading, a seabed depth reading is required adjacent to the mid-point of each face.
Depth readings are required at 3m and 5m radii from each pile sleeve along the cardinal lines for each
face.
A single depth reading is required adjacent to each pile sleeve.
A single depth reading is required at a 10m radius on the NW, NE, SE and SW positions relative to that
pile sleeve along the diagonal cardinal line taken through the pile sleeves. eg. 10m NW of the NW pile.
Note that the design scour allowance underneath the platform mudmat is 2.0m, and scour depths have
to be monitored to determine if they are approaching/exceeding this limit. (Refer to OF0401-BOD-30-S-
0001 Rev 3 ‘Structural Design Criteria - Wellhead Platform’, and OF0401-CAL-30-S-0001 Rev 1 ‘Jacket
in-Service Analysis – In place’.)
4.6.2 Debris Survey
The debris survey consists of a video survey covering a band 5m wide from the edge of the mudmat that
runs between the piles. If visibility is poor, the video survey can be substituted by a sonar survey, with
significant targets investigated and identified.
If practical, any debris found in contact with the mudmat is be picked up and moved outside the 5m
band.
If debris is removed, a debris task must be added to the component and closed off when the debris is
removed.
Debris removal is not a requirement, but should be carried out if possible to enable an inspection to be
completed.

The piles are grouted within the pile sleeves. There is no information available to confirm if there is any
continuity between the pile and pile sleeve.
The piles are exposed below the mudmat historically and contact CP readings for comparison between
the pile and the pile sleeves are required.

4.8 Access Ladders and Boat Rail Inspection

An access ladder and mooring rails are located on the south side of Leg JA1 and extend below the
water line. This structure is small enough to inspect as an individual component, and is likely to be
obscured with marine growth.
There is a central stub attachment from the ladder frame to the Leg JA1 located at about - 1.5m.

4.9 Caisson Inspection

4.9.1 Waste Pipe
The overboard discharge caisson is 168mm OD and terminates at EL-7.530m, on the inboard side of
and adjacent to Leg JB1.
There are welded stub type Pipe Supports (PS) on HM -1.0 - JB1/JB2 at EL-1.0m and HM-7.6 – JB1/JB2
at EL-7.6m. These are likely to be obscured by marine growth.
Refer to Drawing PR006008-300-DW-3621-0106 in Appendix B.
Proximity CP readings should be taken on the caisson body mid-elevation and at the termination level.
Check that there is no occlusion at the termination and take a stand-off video grab to confirm.
If the caisson is occluded or restricted at the termination, cleaning may be required. The IS must be
informed and give approval prior to cleaning.
Contact CP measurements and video frame grabs will be required pre-cleaning and post-cleaning.
4.9.2 Grout Caissons
There are two redundant Grout Caissons with welded stub supports. One is located on the inboard side
of jacket leg JB1 with ID Grout Caisson no. 1. The other is located on the inboard side of jacket leg JB2
with ID Grout Caisson no. 2.
These terminate at approximately EL-12.2m and each feed eight grout pipes which travel along the
structure to each of the separate piles and legs.
Refer to Drawings PR006008-300-DW-3621-0302 and PR006008-300-DW-3621-0305 in Appendix B.
Determine if a diaphragm plate in place at each caisson termination, if not obscured by marine growth.
No cleaning is required.
Both Grout Caissons and all grout pipes (packer inflation lines) should be inspected with the
components to which they are attached. No FMD is required on the two sets of caisson support stubs
unless gross damage is seen and lack of integrity is suspected. Marine growth is likely to obscure details
of the components, especially at the shallower elevations.
The marine growth assessment is to be part of the component GVI and need only be assessed verbally,
forming part of the video commentary. No values need be recorded in the inspection software.

4.10 Conductor Survey

4.10.1 General Inspection
There are a total of six conductor slots; one in each of the four jacket legs and two installed in the slots
within the centre of the jacket.
Access to the conductors’ seabed entry point is restricted by the mudmat, which is located between the
legs and piles and. Previous surveys have shown an estimated 1.0m to 1.3m scour at the base of the
pile sleeves so the entry points may be visible. If possible confirm which slots have conductors installed
by checking where conductor casings enter the seabed.
Any exposed conductor casing due to scour below the mudmat should be raised as a Finding.
The amount of exposed casing is to be estimated and a contact CP measurement taken on the
conductor casing as close to seabed, as access permits. All visible conductor casing sections must have
a proximity CP reading taken midpoint between each elevation.
Refer to Drawings PR006008-300-DW-3621-0105 and PR006008-300-DW-3621-0402 in Appendix A.
3 wells only were drilled from the 6 conductor slots provided on the WHP, as shown by the Well ID

4.11 Riser and Spool Inspection

4.11.1 General Inspection
The Riser Spool exits the structure on the north side of the platform. Access may be restricted by the
adjacent structural members. Where access is limited, a standoff video must be completed to show the
limitations.
4.11.2 Kupe 12” Gas Export Riser
The riser comprises three welded Carbon Steel pipe sections and a welded DSS 90°bend. It is paint
coated from the topsides to +6.8m, where it is coated with 12mm thick neoprene to -4.6m below LAT. It
is then 3LPP coated from -4.6m to the DSS bend at -28m, where the coating changes to FBE.
The riser is located inside the structure on the north face and extends from the surface to the mudmat,
where it is bolted via a flanged connection to the first DSS spool.
It is possible that access is restricted and a riser inspection will have to be conducted from outside the
platform. Try to obtain two diametrically opposite passes from the two least obstructed faces to get full
coverage.
The various clamp support stubs will have been included to the Flooded Member Detection (FMD)
workpack. Restricted access may preclude completing this part of the FMD survey, in which case a DVI
of the support must be carried out.
Refer to Drawing PR006008 - 300 - DW - 3621 – 0207 for Riser Clamp Details.

Table 3 - RISER CLAMP IDs

The security of the riser clamps is to be assessed, which includes checking closure and hinge bolts for
washers and lock nuts, presence of a liner, and anode condition if fitted.
It is not expected cleaning will be possible, due to restricted access, and if it proves to be the case it
should be included in the commentary and report.
The riser is thought to be electrically isolated from the structure, although this has yet to be positively
confirmed from as-built records.
The Riser Clamp (Type 1) Hanger Flange is above surface and is fitted with a bonded 12mm neoprene
liner. Clamp Types 2 and 3 also possess a neoprene liner, and Clamp Type 4 (at elevation -1.036m) is
isolated by the riser 12mm neoprene coating.
No contact CP readings will be carried out on the riser body, unless exposed metal is found.
Proximity CP readings should be taken mid-elevation on the riser sections between each elevation, and
the maximum and minimum values recorded in IC Inspection. All proximity readings must be taken at a
constant distance from the riser, normally 50mm, access permitting.
The depth of the riser flange, given as EL-33.2m, is to be verified.

If a flange protector has been installed, a full DVI of the shroud should be carried out. Any leaks,
damage or deformation must be reported to the CSR, or IS immediately for further instructions.
Contact CP measurements will be taken on the riser flange and the riser spool flanges. Depending on
the CP Sub-contractor’s procedures, the contact CP measurement on the riser flange will be used as the
reference for the proximity readings on the riser sections.
Note: The CP values obtained will be on stainless steel.
4.11.3 Spools
Although considered part of the pipeline asset, the two offshore spools will be incorporated in the WHP
inspection, which will include Field Gradient CP (FG-CP) if specified in the SOW. Two passes, with a
single camera, may be used to obtain the maximum coverage of the spools.
There are three anodes on each of the WHP spools, situated either side of the intermediate spool
flange. Anode wastage and bonding cable assessment is required. At the last survey these anodes were
estimated less than 25% depleted.
The riser spool is connected to the riser inboard of the mudmat member and to the intermediate flange
of the pipeline closing spool, which is connected to the pipeline. A DVI is required at all flanges and any
leaks, damage or deformation must be reported to the CSR, or IS immediately for further instructions.
Check for signs of thermal expansion, recording their location and the amount of deflection.
There is a 45° vertical bend 3.5m from the riser flange where the lower side of the vertical bend has
been previously reported as unsupported. If the spool is in suspension, the survey must continue to the
touch down point and a fix taken, especially if it extends on to the pipeline closing spool. In this event the
Finding is to be raised as one Finding attached to the riser spool.
Fixes are to be taken at either end of mattresses as they are encountered. Confirm whether the spools
are supported, unsupported or covered by the mattress.
All unsupported sections greater than 2m need to be logged, raising multiple Findings if necessary. A
minimum of 1m must exist at the end of the span, or it will be referred to as a touchdown and the overall
span will be classed as intermittent.
Should the closing spool and pipeline tie-in flange be unsupported then inspect along the pipeline until
there is a touch down point. A fix should be taken at either end of the span and length and height
recorded.
Refer to Drawing PR006008 - 400 - DW - 3521- 0019 in Appendix A.

4.12 J-Tube Inspection

4.12.1 General Inspection
The J-Tube is located on the north side of the platform and can be inspected as a single component. If
access is restricted, a video must be completed to show the limitations.
Transponder buckets are fitted to pile SKP-SB1 and SKP-SB2 1m above the mudmat and protrude 1m
horizontally north, and may present a hazard to the ROV.
Special attention should be given to the umbilical entering the bell mouth at -33m. It is unclear if a seal
assembly was fitted between the J-tube and the umbilical at the bellmouth. Video obtained during the
DVI will be used to update/create new drawings and to brief future inspection teams.
The mudmat support will also require a full DVI.
A contact CP reading J-tube bellmouth is required, which will be used as the reference reading for the
proximity readings on the J-tube. These readings are to be taken on each section, mid-elevation, with
the maximum and minimum readings recorded in IC Inspection as an event.
4.12.2 Electro-Hydraulic Control Umbilical
The umbilical is to be inspected, starting from the J-tube bellmouth at the mudline brace, running out
20m to allow for an overlap with the umbilical survey. If the umbilical is still in suspension after 20m, the
survey must continue to the touch down point and a fix must be taken. Fixes are also to be taken as
mattresses are encountered.
Any span greater than 2m must be reported as a Finding, raising multiple Findings if necessary. A
minimum of 0.5m must exist at the end of the span, or it will be referred to as a touchdown and the
overall span will be classed as intermittent.

Appendix C FMD Listing

General Note
FMD is required on all 61 Structural Members. As the 18 Support Stubs (for Conductors, Riser and J-
tube) are of a similar diameter to Structural Members, these components will also have FMD done. Bear
in mind that should the sea state on the day of inspection be other than calm, no shallow water stubs are
to have FMD done, as the risk of equipment damage is unacceptable.
