I DID NOT MISS SCHOOL IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS BECAUSE.......
Examination finished and I am enjoying a happy life with the planning for class 7. Suddenly, due to the spread
of Corona Virus there was lockdown and our school was closed. I started missing my school and my friends at the
beginning. But, I was also feeling lucky for having a WhatsApp group with my classmates. Many students were feeling
lucky because of the news about the school being closed due to this virus. I don't know about others but, for me it
was a bad news. Nobody knew the future and soon our online classes started and most probably this is the core
reason behind me not missing my school for the last two months.
In online classes there was double the work in the school. Literally so much work to do. Teachers and many
others used to say, "No mobile inside the school." But today, not just a classroom but the entire school is inside the
mobile. Listening to this poor mobile probably must have become infuriated, which could explain why it exhausted
its battery and data so quickly even before we could notice! In the beginning when I attended the first online class
through Zoom, it was a Hindi class and it felt jaw dropping to watch more than 70 students along with the teacher
interacting face to face. After few days, more teachers pitched in and conducted more number of online classes.
However, due to network problem many were not able to do. Three weeks passed away and our online classes
continued with strict time table. Many students were not joining due to network problem, I heard.
Due to this COVID-19 many things changed like- Classrooms changed to online classrooms, taking down notes
from the blackboard changed to taking down notes from the mobiles and laptops, asking for notebooks for writing
transformed to asking for the pictures of the notebooks for writing, physical games with friends became online games
with friends. Yes, yes, yes, online games with friends! It also started during these series of online classes (not me
though). In class we had to take permission to say something; whereas, in online class one needs to just mute their
mike and say anything.
There were many threats to continue using the Zoom app and so, it was replaced by Microsoft Teams. Now,
anybody could mute anybody in this app, even the teacher. So, yet again it was replaced by Google Meet. Many
students in SST class participate in strength of about 80 to 90, but before the class ends, they would simply leave the
class reducing the strength to 40 or 54. I think as SST is divided into three parts, students aren’t interested in what to
study today. Even me! If it is a Civics class, then some will not attend the class and if it is a Geography class, then I
would.
In the beginning of a Math class the strength would be 32 to 50. But by the end of the class what would have
been the situation you can imagine. Yes, yes, yes also Tests = Online Tests and for it the Google FORMS were used.
And then, there used to be rows of cheating done by some students. But whatever may be the situation, honest
never shows the quality of dishonesty. And I believe that in our school there are more than 95% honest students.
All these things made me forget about school. BUT, it was this competition, for which I am writing, that
reminded me of our school. I miss you school.
