CARTOON ANALYSIS ON THE EVOLUTION OF COMMUNICATION

The cartoon made by the cartoonist shows not just the evolution of communication but also
the evolution of humanity towards the communication itself. By the use of symbols like the clothing,
the mediums used and the curve path, shows the connection of the evolution of communication and
us humans.

The first image shows how resourceful people are. They used their available resources such
as stones as a means of communication. The second image shows some technological advancement.
It shows how creative humans are to invent such things for faster and more convenient means of
communication. The third image shows that humans are being highly educated because of the mass
publication. This image of a man holding a book is at the peak of the curve of the evolution and the
most distinguishable one. This is because people during this time is actively engaged in using printed
materials like journals, books, and newspaper to gain and spread information. Also during this time
people are provided with good, informative, and valuable information. The fourth image is
somewhat similar to the second image with their clothes and just different on the technology used.
The person holding a laptop is slightly crouched down, which shows how he is so engrossed with the
use of internet to communicate. It also shows that people are becoming lazy and dependent on the
internet and forgot about the good use of the traditional means. The fourth image’s clothing is
similar to the first image and instead of holding a mallet the last is holding a mobile phone. Though
the image shows how expressive humans are with the use of social media, the cartoon shows that
the true purpose of communication is degrading. Communication should be used to inform people
of good and educational information not just some random nonsense thoughts that will not
contribute to the improvement of our society.

The cartoon shows how the advancement of technology quickly changed how people
perceived the use of communication. This cartoon wants us to be responsible in any means we
communicate and to never abuse the use of social media to share false information. Let us be a
responsible person for the continuous improvement of the use of communication.
