1.0 RESEARCH DESIGN

1.1 PURPOSE OF STUDY

The purpose of the study is explorative in nature. Focusing on the continuous improvement

capability development with reference to previous research.

1.2 RESEARCH STRATEGY

Case study approach was adopted for research strategy.

1.3 EXTENT OF RESEARCHER INTERFERENCE

The extent of researcher is minimal in most instances.

1.4 STUDY SETTING

It remained non-contrived through-out the research.

1.5 DATA COLLECTION METHODS

1. Direct observation

2. Interviews

3. Documentation

4. Participant observation

1.6 UNIT OF ANALYSIS

2
The organization is the unit of analysis in the study.

1.7 SAMPLING DESIGN

One organization is selected among several. It is based on non- probability sampling.

1.8 TIME HORIZON

The study is conducted for 10-month period. It is cross-sectional.

2.0 VARIABLES

2.1 INDEPEANDANT VARIABLE

Top to bottom and bottom to top improvement structure.

2.2 DEPENDANT VARIABLE

Capability development through continuous improvement

2.3 MODERATING VARIABLES

4.0 HYPOTHESIS

4.1 ALTERNATE HYPOTHESIS

There is relationship between top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top improvement structure and

capability development through continuous improvement.

4.2 IF THEN STATEMENT

If there is top to bottom and bottom to top improvement structure then organization can achieve

capability development through continuous improvement.

4.3 NON- DIRECTIONAL

Capability development through continuous improvement is not significantly related to top to

bottom and bottom to down improvement structure.
