1. Overview
This program aims to allow each LCP service point to perform the following.
(1) To readout the DR data from the old MA Board Assy of a failed LCP and save them as a file on PC.
(2) To write the DR data from PC to the new MA Board Assy of the LCP.

2. Operation Environment
2.1 PC System Requirements

Supported models Applied to those model listed in the Technical Information.

- The communication cable depends on the models.

3. Set up CAT_V**
3.1 Limitations and Cautions
3.1.1 IRIS Control

This program uses the IRIS control. Be sure to install IRIS001 before installing CAT_V**.
-The destination folder of IRIS control is as follows.

* IRIS control may be installed other system drive than C drive depending on the PC.
* Even after IRIS002 is installed, IRIS001 is still needed when the program (XXX.exe) requires IRIS001.

3.1.2 Cautions on Setup

To allow the local users other than the "Administrator" authority to execute CAT_V**, switch the Windows
user before starting to set up according to the following steps when installing CAT_V** and IRIS001.

Disconnect the communication if the PC is still connected to the other LCP serially (such as using
"Teraterm" or the like).

3.2 Installation
*Cautions on Setup
To allow the local users other than the "Administrator" authority to execute CAT_V**, switch the Windows
user before starting to set up according to the following steps.

CAT_V** program uses the IRIS control. If IRIS001 is not installed on the PC, be sure to install IRIS001
before installing CAT_V**.

3.2.1 Installing IRIS001

(1) Log in the Windows as the "Administrator" authority.

(2) Execute "Setup_IRIS001_Rxx.EXE".


- After the installer starts, the following window is displayed.

(3) Click [Next].


-The following window is displayed.

(4) Verify the destination folder where IRIS is installed.

(5) Click [Next].


-After IRIS is installed, the following window is displayed.

- The window is closed, and the installation is finished.
- Install CAT_V** next.

3.2.2 Installing CAT_V**

(1) Log in the Windows as the "Administrator" authority.


(2) Execute "Setup_CAT_V**.exe ".
- After the installer starts, the following window is displayed.

(3) Click [Next].


- The following window is displayed.

(5) Click [Next].


- After CAT_V** is installed, the following window is displayed.

- The icon for " CAT_V**" is added on the desktop.

(7) Copy IRIS_MENT.zip on the destination folder where CAT_V** is installed.

(8) Log off from the Windows as the "Administrator" authority.


-Do not execute CAT_V** for the first time as "Administrator" authority.

(9) Execute CAT_V** after logging in the Windows as the local user. (The first time only)
- Once executing CAT_V** as the local user, this program becomes executable as the "Administrator"
authority.

3.3 Removing the program


*Cautions on removing the program
When removing CAT_V**/IRIS001 program, be sure to log in the Windows as the "Administrator"
authority to remove the program.

The IRIS001 control is commonly used to execute both RESCUE and CAT. Do not remove IRIS001 when
removing either CAT_V** or RESCUE.

3.3.1 Uninstallation of CAT_V**


(1) Log in the Windows as the "Administrator" authority.
(2) Click [Start] of Windows and then select [Settings] => [Control Panel].
(3) Double-click [Add/Remove Programs].
* For Windows Vista, click [Programs and Features].
(4) Select [EPSON IRIS CAT_V**], and then click [Delete].
* For Windows Vista, Click [Uninstall]

3.3.2 Uninstallation of IRIS001


(1) Log in the Windows as the "Administrator" authority.
(2) Click [Start] of Windows and then select [Settings] => [Control Panel].
(3) Double-click [Add/Remove Programs].
* For Windows Vista, click [Programs and Features].
(4) Select [EPSON IRIS ActiveX Control], and then click [Delete].
* For Windows Vista, Click [Uninstall]

4. Starting and terminating


4.1 Starting
- To start CAT_V**, follow the steps 1) or 2) below.
1) Double-click the registered CAT_V** icon on the desktop.

2) Click [Start] of Windows and then select [All Program] => [IRIS] => [CAT_V**].

The main window of CAT_V** is displayed.

4.2 Terminating
Click the close window button (Upper-right x button), then the following message is displayed.
Click [OK] to terminate this program.

5.4 Communication Settings


-Displays current communication settings. Also adjust the communication port number and the speed.

COM+ Add 1 to the current port number.
COM- Subtract 1 from the current port number.
SPEED+ Increase the speed up to the higher level.
SPEED- Decrease the speed down to the lower level.
OK Save current settings.
Cancel Close the window without saving current settings.

* The communication speed is increased/decreased between the values of 9600 <=> 38400 <=> 57600
<=> 115200.

5.5 Parameter Version


-Displays the version of parameter file (IRIS_MENT.ZIP).

The version of parameter file


(IRIS_MENT.ZIP) is displayed.

Release date is displayed.

6. Selecting an LCP model and Communication settings


6.1 Connecting an LCP to the PC
6.1.1 Connection types

They are usually connected serially, but some models require the USB connection since they only have the USB
terminal. In that case, use USBVCOM (USB connection) instead. Before executing CAT, turn the LCP's power
on after the connection is completed.

6.1.2 Power On in USB connection

To use USB connection, do the following steps.


(1) Connect the AC cable while pressing [Enter] button of the LCP.
(2) Turn on the LCP power.
(3) Connect the USB cable.
(4) Start CAT_V**

*Cautions on the USB connection

-The driver software to support USB connection from the LCP is not included in the setup file
(Setup_IRIS001_Rxx).

- If the driver for the USB connection is not installed on the PC, download the driver from the EPSON's
Web Site and install it beforehand.

6.2 Selecting the LCP model

To set up the LCP model on the PC side, do the following steps.


(1) Click [SETUP] in the main window.
(2) Click [SELECT MODEL] in the [SETUP MENU] window.
(3) Select an LCP model and then click [OK].
The LCP model is set up on the PC side and then return to the main window.

6.3 Communication Settings and Connection Test


6.3.1 Communication Settings
To set up communication between the PC and the LCP, do the following steps.
(1) Click [SETUP] in the main window.
(2) Click [COMM PORT] in the [SETUP MENU] window.
(3) Select a port number and the speed, and then click [OK].
The port number and the speed are set up and then return to the main window.

6.3.2 Connection Test


To check communication between the PC and the LCP, do the following steps.
(1) Click [SETUP] in the main window.
(2) Click [CONNECT TEST] in the [SETUP MENU] window.
(3) After the test is complete, the result is displayed as shown below

7. Backup and Restoring the DR data


7.1 The DR data folder
This folder is used to save the DR data file to restore or to make a backup.
(1) Click [Start] of Windows and then select [All Program] => [IRIS] => [DR DATA].
The DR data folder is displayed on the desktop.

* CAUTION: The DR data folder may be created in other system drive than C drive depending on the PC.

7.2 Backup the DR data


The backup function is used to take the DR data from a failed LCP and save as a file on PC.
You need to match the model settings both the product and this program before starting to backup the DR data.

* CAUTION: Even when the LCP is in failure and cannot turn to the POWERON status, the backup
operation is still executable as for some of products. Refer to the Model Group List in the
Technical Information to find those applicable models.

7.2.1 Preparation for Backup


(1) Connect the AC cable and then turn on the LCP power (Lamp lit).

(2) Connect the LCP to the PC with a communication cable.


* CAUTION: An available communication cable depends on the LCP. (RS-232C cable or USB cable)
(3) Start CAT_V** and then click [SETUP].
(4) Click [SELECT MODEL] and then select the model in SELECT MODEL window.

(5) Click [COMM PORT] and then verify or set the communication environment in COMM PORT window.
(6) Click [CONNECT TEST] and make sure that the connection between the PC and the LCP is available.

7.2.2 Execution of Backup


(1) Click [BACKUP]. The following message is displayed.

(2) Click [Yes] to start executing backup. Click [No] to cancel the backup operation.

* CAUTION: If the model settings of the connected product don’t correspond with this program, the
error message is displayed in the main window.

* CAUTION: If the DR data file exists in the DR data folder, the following message is displayed. If you
want to overwrite the existing DR data, click [Yes]. Otherwise click [No] to cancel
making backup data.

(3) The backup from the product is put into effect.

(4) When the backup operation is complete, the following message is displayed.

(5) Click [Start] of Windows and then select [All Program] => [IRIS] => [DR DATA].
- Make sure that the DR data file is saved in the DR data folder.

(6) Click [OK].

7.3 Restoring the DR data


The restoring function is used to write the DR data from PC to a MA Board Assy of an LCP under repair.
You need to match the model settings both the product and this program before starting to restore the DR data.

* CAUTION: Before starting to restore the DR data, you should save the DR data file correspond to the
LCP engine serial number in the DR data folder.

7.3.1 Preparation for Restoring


(1) Connect the AC cable and verify that the power LED lights.
(2) Connect the LCP to the PC with a communication cable.
* CAUTION: An available communication cable depends on the LCP. (RS-232C cable or USB cable)
(3) Turn on the LCP power.
(4) Wait until the power LED stopping to flash and the LCP lit.
(5) Start CAT_V** and then Click [SETUP].
(6) Click [SELECT MODEL] and then select the model.
(7) Click [COMM PORT] and then verify or set the communication environment.
(8) Click [CONNECT TEST] and make sure that the connection between the PC and the LCP is available.

7.3.2 Execution of Restoring


(1) Click [RESTORE].
(2) Enter the engine serial number. You can find the engine serial number in the barcode put to the engine.
Enter 11 digits in alphanumeric characters.

* CAUTION: Enter single "*" character and then click [OK]. The latest engine serial number entered
correctly is displayed. Verify the engine serial number and click [OK].

* CAUTION: Following message is displayed if there is no DR data file corresponding to the engine serial
number entered. Be sure to save the DR data file correspond to the engine serial number of
the LCP, and then click [Retry]. Click [No] to cancel restoring the DR data.

* CAUTION: A file select window is displayed, if there are two or more DR data files for the same serial
number correspond to different DR data versions.

- Click the DR data file button to restore and skip to next. Click [No] to cancel restoring the DR data.

(2) Verify that the DR data file to restore is correct. Click [OK] to start restoring the DR data. Click [No] to
cancel restoring the DR data.

(3) The restoring the DR data to the MA Board Assy of the LCP is put into effect.

(4) When restore is completed, the following message is displayed.

8. Adding the supported models


8.1 Updating the parameter file
The parameter file (IRIS_MENT.zip) lists information on the models supported by CAT_V**.
When adding supported models, make sure to overwrite exiting parameter file with new parameter file on
the destination folder where CAT_V** is installed.

8.2 Verifying the Parameter Version

To verify the version of the parameter file (IRIS_MENT.zip), do the following steps.
(1) Click [SETUP] in the main window of CAT_V**.
(2) Click [PARAMETER VERSION] button in the [SETUP MENU] window.
The Parameter Version is displayed. Click [OK] to return to the main window.

9. Error Message List


The error messages that are displayed in this program are listed below. If one of the messages below is
displayed, perform the corresponding troubleshooting referring to the remedies given below.
