READING COMPREHENSION EXERCISES

TEMA

Una de las mejores actividades para aprender inglés es la

CONOCIMIENTOS lectura. Leer textos en inglés te ayudará a mejorar tu vocabulario
PREVIOS en contexto, a repasar estructuras gramaticales complejas en
contexto y a aumentar tu conocimiento sobre expresiones
idiomáticas. En este taller desarrollarás lecturas de textos en
pasado simple y responderás preguntas relacionadas al texto
leído.

OBJETIVO DEL  Me apoyo en el vocabulario utilizado en lo escrito para

APRENDIZAJE comprender mejor lo que se dice.
 Reconozco y diferencio las categorías gramaticales para
expresar mis ideas con mayor claridad.
En este taller vamos a aprender algunas estrategias que nos
permitirán entender mejor los textos en ingles mediante diferentes
EXPERENCIA DEL APRENDIZAJE actividades
Previewing : esta estrategia te invita a revisar títulos,
encabezados, fotos o cualquier otro elementos de este tipo para
poder tener un sentido de la estructura y el contenido del texto.

Predicting: Utilizar conocimientos previos del tema para hacer

predicciones.

Gessing from context: Usar conocimiento primordial de la materia

y las ideas del texto como pistas para entender el vocabulario
desconocido ya que en oportunidades no se podrá tener a la

 mano un diccionario.

Paraphrasing: Detenerse al final de cada sección para estar

seguros de haber entendido y recrea con nuestras propias
palabras.

También debes tener en cuenta las siguientes recomendaciones:

Elige el momento del día cuando estés más alerta

Determina tu objetivo de lectura
Asegúrate de estar cómodo y tener mucha luz
Crea una lista de vocabulario antes de empezar.
No definas cada palabra.
Usa pistas de contexto
Busca raíces de palabras, prefijos y sufijos que conozcas.
Desglosa las oraciones en partes más pequeñas.
Busca palabras e ideas relacionadas.

EVERYDAY PEOPLE CHANGING THE WORLD

1 Thulani Madondo started an educational programme to help children

living in the slums of Kliptown, South Africa.
When Thulani left primary school, his father told him that he didn’t
have enough money for his high school fees. Thulani washed cars and
carried boxes to earn his own money to pay to go to school.
The Kliptown Youth Program helps other young people in Kliptown to
get an education and improve their lives. It gives them uniforms, books
and money for their school fees.

2 Pushpa Basnet runs a day care centre

for children who are growing up in

prison in Nepal.
Pushpa studied social work at
university. One day when she
visited a women’s prison, she saw
children living there. She was
shocked by this situation and she
opened a children’s day care
the lives of Colombian teenage mothers.
Catalina worked as a volunteer in a hospital
in Cartagena. One day, a twelve-day-old
boy died in her arms because the baby’s
teenage mother didn’t have money for 5
