TFLOW29 Revision Notes

This document describes program changes and bug fixes since the original release in March 2020. All
changes described here are included in the currently installed software, identified by the date shown on
program startup and via the [Help] - [About…] menu in all Thermoflow programs.

GT PRO / GT MASTER
GTPM – The interactive process of converting the GT PRO design to a GT MASTER off-design model was
revived. This was not included in the original release of Version 29.

GT MASTER: Auto Pump Resizing – A method to automatically resize a pump and its driver is now
available from the [Pumps] tab of the [Pipes, Pumps, Etc.] topic in GT MASTER. As shown below, the
sizing inputs are overall pressure rise and sizing flow.

Reciprocating Engine Graphic Output – A new graphic output showing engine details for reciprocating
engine cases is available.

Save Text Report as CSV – This feature was inadvertently left out of TF29, and is now restored.
GT PRO – a new ‘No LTE’ choice was added to the LTE Specification list on the [Water Circuit] topic. This
can be used in lieu of the historical method of setting desired DA operating temperature to a value
lower than the feedwater supply temperature.

Desuperheating source – may now be HPE0, HPE1, or HPE2 in addition to HPE exit which denotes the
economizer feeding water to the HP evaporator. These choices are included on the Desuperheating
source pulldown list when the HX exists in the HRSG.
Fogger Offline – the fogger may now be explicitly switched to offline in both GT PRO and GT MASTER.
While it has always been possible to achieve this operating state, this new switch provides a direct and
easy-to-interpret program input. The switch is available in each program as shown below.

New Inputs for Wartsila Gas Engines (#468-471) - If one of the Wartsila engines is selected, the panel
shown below containing two additional inputs will appear at the upper right-hand corner of the GT
Inputs screen:

Minimum temperature and Maximum temperature

represent the expected ambient temperature limits for the
engine. These inputs will dictate the engine’s performance:
Minimum temperature, whose default value is 41°F/5°C,
impacts the cooling system design. A lower value requires a higher concentration of anti-freezing agent
in the coolant, resulting in lessened heat transfer performance of the cooling system. As a consequence
of this modification to the coolant, the efficiency and power output of the engine will be reduced at a
higher ambient temperature; Maximum temperature, whose default value is 107.6°F/42°C, influences
the turbocharger design. A higher value necessitates booster fans with higher capacity, such that the
power output can be maintained at a higher ambient temperature. This results in a booster fan design
that will lead to more auxiliary power consumption and lower overall efficiency at normal conditions.
THERMOFLEX
Plate HX – The design, off-design, size, weight, and cost models were revised and improved. The
component will operate more reliably under a wider range of conditions and provide a more reasonable
cost estimate for typical applications.

Electrolyzer Output – now includes electrolyzer module dimensions, weight, building area, and
estimated plot plan.

under GT Pro section.

Multiple-Programs
GT Heat Rejection 3 and 4 – Two extra heat rejections are now available for User-defined Gas Turbine
Model (ID=-1) and GT Template Defined Gas Turbine Model (ID=-2). These heat rejection quantities may
be used together with cooling stream source and return location in GT PRO and GT MASTER. In
THERMOFLEX these heat rejections may be connected to heat adders.

Link to Siemens Energy eAGT supersedes Siemens eTRENT – The Siemens Energy aeroderivative gas
turbine calculation program for the TRENT has been expanded and renamed. The new program, eAGT, is
now integrated with GT PRO, GT MASTER, and THERMOFLEX. It allows you to compute performance for
Siemens Energy aeroderivative engines (SGT-A35, SGT-A45, and SGT-A65) using the Siemens Energy
calculation program directly from within Thermoflow programs. If your computer has the latest TF29
revision and Siemens eAGT installed, you will be able to use this feature.

On the [GT Selection] menu you’ll find the topmost choice is ‘Siemens Energy aeroderivative engine
computed with eAGT’. When selected, the associated button [Configure Siemens Aeroderivative Engine]
is enabled. This starts eAGT in the mode where you select and configure the specific engine, and define
its fuel. During cycle calculation, Thermoflow software will run eAGT to compute engine performance.
The results will be used in your cycle calculation directly. Output reports will include the performance
computed by eAGT.

Please contact your Siemens Energy sales representative for access to eAGT.

Thermoflow sincerely appreciates the support and cooperation provided by Siemens Energy / Montreal
in developing this powerful feature.

GT Template

Two new optional output variables, Heat rejection #3 and Heat rejection #4, are added to the GT
Template model. Please note that the total number of optional outputs is still limited to five (5).
GAS TURBINE DATABASE
 ID’s 727, 728: New data defined models added for Siemens SGT-A65E DLE with ISI 50Hz and
60Hz, respectively.
 ID’s 729: New data defined models added for Siemens SGT-A35 (GT61).
 Performance was revised for the four Wartsila reciprocating engines, ID 468, 469, 470, and 471.
The revised models run down to 10% load. The performance is sensitive to the newly introduce
input for expected Site temperature range, editable on the [GT Inputs] topic. Better
performance is achieved when the maximum site ambient temperature is lower.
