From the outset of her time in my classroom, Victoria demonstrated an eagerness to undertake far more than was laid
out in her Uni expectations.
She showed that she had a good understanding of how students learn and the complex learning abilities of the students
in the classroom. She took these into account when planning and implementing her program, she adjusted her program
as the practicum went on to become as inclusive of individual learning styles as possible.
Victoria used many 'hands on', concrete experiences when implementing her program, which assisted the students to
further understand their learning.
She used the storage cupboards in my classroom as an opportunity for the students to develop their maths skills of
sorting, categorising and pricing. This (in part) became a tool for developing many other experiences in the classroom.
she extended these experiences into our ITC lessons whereby the students needed to recreate some of the equipment
in the maths cupboard, price and advertise it.
Victoria introduced a basic music program as part of her teaching, which the students loved and which I myself will be
continuing.
During our HASS lesson, specifically geography, Victoria assisted the students in starting to understand the difference
between continents, countries and Australian states.

As stated above, Victoria used her developing knowledge of how students learn to develop her teaching and learning
program to best fit the needs of students. She created some pre-assessment activities to understand prior knowledge of
subjects she was to introduce and used this information to base her further planning on. She used further assessment
techniques to check how they understood particular concepts, fed this information back sensitively with the students
(usually individually as necessary) and did her best to address misconceptions.
At SDPS, we utilise Play is the Way as our main social-emotional learning program. This is based around core values
and expectations regarding how students deal with themselves and class/personal activities and issues, Victoria utilised
these values and understandings in her teaching as time went along.
She researched, discussed with me, then implemented a program that deals with Cyber-Bullying and it's effects. The
students came to recognise Victoria as a co-teacher and as time went on, became more willing and able to approach
her with any issues (personal and academic) that they might have been experiencing. Victoria privately discussed any
student personal issues with me, we then discussed the best way to approach assisting the student(s) in how to go
about solving them, using our school values and expectations.
Victoria has a strong Growth Mindset herself, which was very welcome in my classroom, as it is also one of the
underpinning ways in which I teach students myself. She ensured that she continued this and developed some
interesting activities for the students to understand the ability to further understand and extend their knowledge
regarding this important area of individual growth.

Victoria attended our Student-Free day with Wilson McCaskill, exploring the way that our school implements and
incorporates Play is the Way strategies as the main social-emotional strategy that addresses behaviour education and
values in SDPS.
She attended all staff meetings along with other learning opportunities that the school offers it's teaching staff on a
regular basis.
Victoria ensured that she engaged with all relevant staff within the school and was available for parents to chat to should
the need arise.
She was always willing and able to seek out other staff to help her further her knowledge of other areas around the
school. Victoria personally sought out opportunities to work alongside other staff members in different areas of the
school, which gave her the opportunity to experience different year levels, approaches to teaching and specialist
teaching and learning areas of the school.

6) Professional Experience Context

Salisbury Downs is a medium sized metropolitan R-7 school with 13 classes (approx. 340 students) - category 3 of
disadvantage. There are approximately 34% of students on School Card, 22% identify as coming from non-English
Speaking Backgrounds (EALD) and about 7% of students are Aboriginal (ATSI). On site there is a Better Behaviour
Centre which offers intervention programs for students with challenging behaviours. Students come from a variety of
different backgrounds with a very multicultural feel. Salisbury Downs is a school of moderate complexity with students
from over 30 countries (1st and 2nd generation). Poverty is a significant issue with its associated problems. Teachers
work in an open space unit setting. The teachers work as a collaborative team with students moving between classes
and teachers. Teachers work and plan together with shared responsibilities and roles.

7) Summative Comments by Supervising Teacher/s

I enjoyed working alongside Victoria in my classroom for her Professional learning Experience. She settled well into our
classroom and demonstrated that she is willing and able to take the time to understand students and how they learn,
whilst teaching them at the same time.
Victoria ensured from the beginning a desire to get to know each individual student and their personal feelings about
their schooling. She became aware that different students have very different learning styles and began to develop the
ability to plan and incorporate these styles as much as possible into her teaching and learning program.
Victoria has demonstrated that she has the desire, determination and ability to become an asset to any school and
classroom that she will undertake in the future.
I wish Victoria every best wish and good luck for her bright teaching future.

8) Summative Comments by Site Coordinator

Victoria had an excellent professional experience during her time at SDPS. She formed strong relationships with both
staff and students and was confident in the manner she went about her work. She reflected on advice she was given
around being aware of different personalities and being catering for this when she is working professionally with them.
The lessons she provided were engaging and were differentiated to cater for the wide range of learning abilities found
within her classroom.
We would like to with Victoria all the best for her future teaching career and hope to see her back at SDPS in the future.
