1. There is/There are, ALONG with its connection to simple present.

There is/There are is used to express whether something is there or not. this language is a virtual
subject in English.

There is/are + Noun/Pronoun/Noun Phrase


in practice, there is / there are not only refers to a singular noun (singular) but also a plural noun,
this can be seen from the verb in the form of / is / or / are / which is in the form of BE-present or
word present form structural work.

So that :
There is – singular noun
There are – plural noun

There is in Indonesian it means "ada" but to be "is" there shows that the object shown is only ONE
or it can be called a singular. Before the object, it is usually marked with an a / an to show 'a' or 'a'.
Example:

 There is a delicious new brand chocolate 


 There is a dog 
 There is a little  cake 
 There is a red hat 
 There is a beautiful long dress in the boutique 
 There is a cute baby with her mother 
 There is an orange fall down from its tree 
 There is an empty box for put all your old cassettes 
 There is a monkey eating a starwberry 
 There is a beautiful girl sitting in the bench alone 

Example using simple present :

(+) There is a door in the house

There is an apple on the table

There is a muscle car in the parking lot

As in the present tense sentence, it turns out that there is a negative sentence and an interrogative
sentence.

Example :

(-) There is not any door in the house

There is not an apple on the table

There is not any muscle car in the parking lot

(?) Is there any door in the house ?

Is there any apple on the table ?

Is there any muscle car in the parking lot ?


There are in Indonesian means "disana ada" but to be "are" there shows that the object shown is
MANY / MORE THAN ONE or it can be called plural. and behind the noun, the letter s / es is added to
indicate plural or many words.

Example sentences using there are:

 There are players of  badminton  


 There are many fruits. 
 There are cows on the field 
 There are models for teen magazine 
 There are  cabbage 
 There are many people going to the mall during the weekend
 There are only ten students in this class now. 
 There are jasmine flowers 
  There are three boys sitting on the bench. 
 There are two chairs outside the class. 

Example using simple present :

(+)There are some doors in this house.


There are some apples on the table.

2. Passive – do/does and be

Do or does could be used to make a question or a future tense.Be is used with a present particular to
form continuous tenses.Be used with a past perticiple to form the passive mood.

Example:Do you always drink coffee every morning?


Do you like to drink soda?
Do you like watching Harry potter?
Do you like eating vegetable?
Do you prefer to eat fruits or meat?

He does not like when people come to his room.


What difference does it make?
She does her homework before she goes out to play.
He does not want to eat vegetable.
Who does he think he is?

This might be the most difficult decision she would ever make.
I’ll be back by ten.
She must be upset.
You can’t be serious.
He must be going now it’s already dark outside.
